"Ah, so that's how it is. I mean, who else could it be? I've never heard of any other kid," Fang Jinke said with a smug expression directed at Wang Xincheng and the others, using these words to cover up his earlier blunder.
Claiming to be well-informed, he had never heard of Yang Xiaoyou, and although no one else seemed to care, she herself found it hard to accept.
Now that she had just caught wind of something, she couldn't help but bring it up repeatedly.
So far, he had only seen a Gun Permit on the bodyguards of his family's elder, and those bodyguards were hired from the Red Dragon. He truly understood the difficulty of the procedures involved.
However, if Special Recruitment required someone to cooperate, finding an unremarkable low-profile fellow to help execute a Special Mission could warrant a temporary approval for safety reasons.
"Heh heh, to be honest, if we look at it normally, Yang Xiaoyou's reasoning actually holds up. After all, no one was hurt. It's normal for this matter to escalate into a Major Incident. But then again, the two families he offended aren't exactly pushovers. A temporary worker would definitely be thrown under the bus. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up grounded for half a month and have to endure some hardships during that time," Fang Jinke said seriously as he began to speculate.
Just as he finished speaking, a figure slipped into the tent—it was Yang Xiaoyou. This made Fang Jinke's words die in his throat; he felt utterly embarrassed and forgot to lower his hand.
He then spoke irritably to Yang Xiaoyou, "Aren't you supposed to be grounded for half a month? How did you escape? Don't drag us down with you."
Unwrapping a candy, Yang Xiaoyou popped it into her mouth and ignored this fellow entirely as she walked straight to her bunk and started rummaging through her belongings.
"So you came to get some clean clothes. I see. At least there's some humanity in letting you out for that," Fang Jinke chuckled.
But soon his curiosity bubbled up again as he approached with a mysterious expression and asked, "So, what’s that special mission you were assigned? It even involves firearms—sounds serious."
After pulling out a cage from the bottom of her bag and tucking it under her arm, Yang Xiaoyou turned her head slightly with a smirk and glanced at Fang Jinke.
"Are you sure you want to know?"
Fang Jinke had initially just been curious but immediately sensed something was off. He shook his head vigorously. That would be ridiculous; if he admitted it now, wouldn’t he also end up under suspicion?
Although his own family situation was not bad, facing a military mission that required Special Recruitment and even issued a Gun Permit, he truly felt unable to intervene in any way. If he went in, then he would just have to go in.
In another military camp, watching his lively younger sister, Wang Chong couldn't help but show a sad expression as he spoke to her in a low voice.
"Wang Luoyan, I’m entrusting my life and future to you. If this gets leaked, I’ll definitely be expelled from Huangpu Military Academy. The last disciplinary action hasn’t even been cleared yet."
Wang Luoyan, who was distractedly playing with her phone nearby, seemed to have a vacant look in her eyes at that moment. She mechanically nodded in agreement to the conditions he laid out.
To Wang Chong, this reaction was naturally an indication that she was somewhat stunned by the shocking news he had shared.
However, he understood his sister well enough to know that although she could be a bit mischievous and unpredictable at times, she held family in high regard. The possibility of him being expelled from school was trivial compared to the real troubles he might face, yet it was enough to make her take it seriously and help him buy some time for cover.
What he didn’t realize was that while she nodded in agreement, Wang Luoyan was quickly typing a message on her phone and sending it out.
A few hours later, inside a tent at the training camp, the instructor responsible for Yang Xiaoyou nearly dropped his cigarette as he looked at the few figures standing before him.
He already knew that Yang Xiaoyou was a member of Hive Security Company. However, in his eyes, she was just an ordinary member—still a student and quite young—brought over for this mission to serve as a mere supporting role for Firepower.
But now, the energy from this supporting role's sudden activation seemed to exceed his expectations. Just yesterday there had been an incident; he initially thought that this fellow had disrupted Hive Security Company's plans as well. Yet unexpectedly, they had quickly gathered a group of people.
Although they appeared somewhat carefree—some were grooming their nails while others were playing with guns—the aura each one carried was something he felt completely unprepared to handle.
According to their agreement, Hive Security Company was supposed to act as the final step in the operation. But now this group seemed to have come over due to that student’s personal connections, which made it all seem too incredible.
Given their outstanding abilities, he understood well that if there wasn’t something truly remarkable about them, it would be impossible for such a significant gap between Both Sides to foster any friendship. This seemingly frail fellow must certainly possess some extraordinary qualities.
However, thinking about it, as a member of Hive Security Company, being so young and lacking distinctive traits made it unlikely for them to be recruited.
"I'm Yang. It seems like this mission doesn't involve you much, so why did you suddenly join?" A formal member who had previously executed missions alongside Lucas and Yang Xiaoyou expressed curiosity.
In fact, the Hive Security Company felt some pressure regarding this inexplicable mission. After all, according to military regulations, there was indeed no unique method to pinpoint the target.
This was a completely unfamiliar type; it wasn't even mentioned in their nearly all-encompassing manual.
Just as they were still discussing strategies, they received notification from the military that a target had already been captured, and it was done by one of their own.
Soon after, they received a notification from Yang, who held a somewhat special position. Having experienced the uncanny ability to foresee and coordinate everything during the last incident at the abandoned warehouse, they were more than willing to oblige this invitation.
Building personal relationships with such a character could potentially lead to being subconsciously avoided in high-risk positions in future arrangements.
"Just a casual thing. We've already received intel from our inside sources. We just need to accurately locate the target to identify the next layer of contacts. However, even so, we can't guarantee that we can eliminate all of this Soft Nail operation. As for those already set in motion, that's another story. You all need to prepare for the worst internally. Of course, one thing is certain: if even the strict regulations of the Chinese Empire can be breached, other countries will be even worse off. Whether that's good news or bad news is hard to say."
After turning their phone around in their hand, Yang Xiaoyou grinned and said that this opponent's strength wasn't particularly strong; the main issue was their high level of secrecy. Mobilizing core members felt somewhat wasteful; relying on the formal members from this division should suffice.
Moreover, with their ability to step in when necessary, there was no need to worry about execution capabilities. The real concern lay in whether that supporting thread was strong enough.
