The City Lord's mansion had arranged not just a single room for Ye Yu, but a two-story loft nestled quietly by the bamboo grove, right next to Tangsun Lake in the Central District. The environment was exceptionally serene, and as Ye Yu walked along, he encountered only a handful of people. Upon closer inspection, he could occasionally see a few low buildings with white walls and black tiles amidst the greenery.
After leading Ye Yu to this place, the mansion's steward handed him a pass card and left without further ado, merely informing Ye Yu that his daily needs would be taken care of.
Ye Yu was naturally pleased with the tranquility. Since it was still early in the day, he walked straight into the quaint building. Upon entering, he found a small courtyard with several Osmanthus trees planted within. As soon as he stepped inside, he caught a whiff of the faint Osmanthus fragrance. The climate in the Central District was pleasant, known as an area where flowers bloomed in abundance. Of course, after years of human cultivation, there were far more than just a hundred types of flowers here.
The interior was also exquisitely arranged; it did not resemble an ordinary household filled with technological gadgets but rather had the structure of a noble's residence. Most of the furniture was wooden, and even the windows were intricately carved wooden frames. The first floor was largely occupied by the main hall, with numerous windows allowing soft light to filter in, making the entire room bright and inviting.
Ye Yu greatly appreciated the environment here. Compared to the bloody dormitories in Arrow Camp or the dim and dry prison cells in Wasteland Prison, this place felt like a paradise.
"Not bad; there are no surveillance devices here. It seems that the Lord of the City is quite patient!" Jin Shan suddenly appeared before Ye Yu at that moment, though it was merely an extremely faint virtual image that seemed ready to dissipate at any moment.
Ye Yu looked at Jin Shan with delight and said, "You've recovered?"
"I don't want to keep hiding in my shell while talking to you; it feels strange. Although forming a virtual image wastes some energy, obtaining high-purity energy shouldn't be too difficult for you now," Jin Shan replied.
Jin Shan's virtual image wandered around the room like its owner but could not pick up or examine any curious decorations due to its intangible nature.
"Why do you think I can accomplish tomorrow's task?" Ye Yu had never truly considered agreeing to Long Yin Yue's request; it had always been Jin Shan guiding him on how to face such issues.
Jin Shan strolled around the hall nonchalantly, his faint figure appearing somewhat eerie. Hearing Ye Yu's question, he looked back at him and said, "From the moment I awakened, I began gathering all information about this planet. According to my calculations, this mission is your opportunity!"
Ye Yu looked at Jin Shan with a mysterious expression. Although he believed that Jin Shan must have gathered a lot of information to make such a judgment, he still regarded him with skepticism and said, "Why do you sound so cryptic?"
The Federation was a place of freedom, naturally accommodating different thoughts. There was a group of people who claimed to be descendants of the divine race, believing they could predict everything in the world, including the elusive future. Many supported these individuals, spreading this phenomenon throughout every corner of the Federation. At that moment, Ye Yu looked at Jin Shan as if he were one of those so-called fortune tellers, indulging in mystique.
"Everything has traces of operation; through calculations, it can be deduced. I am not like those fortune tellers you see under bridges who are amazed by your bones and promise you great fortune! I am genuinely analyzing what you need to do based on the rules of the universe."
Jin Shan could naturally sense Ye Yu's doubts from his tone and demeanor. He felt a bit disdainful; this attitude seemed somewhat narcissistic!
Ye Yu shook his head helplessly. When he first met Jin Shan, his tone was quite stiff, but now he seemed to be leaning toward certain personalities. In other words, he was learning to be human; more accurately, he was adopting the lifestyle of Carbon-Based Life.
"My current energy is insufficient; many confidential pieces of information cannot be accessed. However, I have calculated that you will encounter significant difficulties ahead. Fortunately, that city lord has left you enough backup! So I can assure you that your life will not be in danger during this journey, and the benefits you gain can help you turn the current situation around!"
Jin Shan looked at Ye Yu and suddenly smiled shyly, as if finding it hard to speak about something but still said, "There’s one more thing: Withered Source Star has an Energy Ore Mine, which is essential for refining Energy Crystals. I plan to find an opportunity to obtain those ores!"
"I understand. If it weren't for you, I would have already died under the Phase Cannon; how could I even talk about executing a mission? Now that there's such a good opportunity to help you acquire enough energy, it's certainly a good thing." Ye Yu recalled that beam of light and felt a chill in his heart. No wonder no one had ever truly escaped from Wasteland Prison. The Phase Cannon, as an interstellar defense weapon, was immensely powerful; flesh and blood were no match against it.
"My situation is quite special; even with enough energy, I cannot fully recover. My Core has suffered tremendous damage; it cannot be restored simply by energy alone." A flicker of pain crossed Jin Shan's eyes. Although he had lost most of his memories, he could still feel the agony from when his Core had sustained severe blows.
Ye Yu sighed softly. He understood what the Core represented for Jin Shan; it was akin to the human brain and heart—something that could not afford any damage. Once harmed, recovery would be extremely difficult.
"Fortunately, I am not Carbon-Based Life; I have plenty of time to recover!" Jin Shan smiled slightly, revealing a row of white teeth. The gloomy mood from earlier seemed to vanish in an instant.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door from outside, followed by a light voice saying, "Hello, Mr. Ye Yu! Meal delivery number seven for you!"
Ye Yu was momentarily stunned, but quickly realized that people from the Federation did not use pure numbers as names. Nearly ten thousand years ago, when humans began creating robots, each robot was assigned a numerical identifier. These identifiers were the original names of the robots, although their owners could also give them any name they desired.
Clearly, the melodious voice coming from outside the room belonged to a robot, and it was one in its initial state, with only a numerical identifier!
