"I don't want to die," Ye Yu subconsciously thought.
Yes, he didn't want to die; death was a terrifying thing. At that moment, Ye Yu's Mental Power erupted completely, and the mysterious realm in his mind activated all of his Mental Power without reservation.
What is faster than light? Only thoughts! Just as Ye Yu's subconscious began to contemplate that moment, his Mental Power instinctively started to operate.
At this moment, Ye Yu might have forgotten that his Mental Power was nearly depleted. Yet, in his mind, it seemed that a slight change was occurring.
"Crack—" It sounded like an egg breaking, extremely faint. According to logic, Ye Yu should have been able to hear it. Although this instant was extreme and short enough to be described only by numbers, he simply did not hear it.
In that moment, Ye Yu found himself in a strange state. It felt as if he had broken through the barriers of the universe and arrived in a new realm, one that was infinitely larger than before. The original universe seemed like just a grain of sand beneath this new starry sky.
Everything appeared to be frozen at that moment; even the beams of light racing toward the limits of this universe seemed to slow down to a crawl. The expressions on people's faces were almost frozen, and every movement slowed to an extreme.
This wasn't because they had slowed down; rather, at this moment, Ye Yu experienced an incredibly rapid transformation. When that sound of cracking echoed, Ye Yu's body moved oddly to the side by a distance the size of a fist!
But no one could see the trajectory of Ye Yu's movement; it was as if he should have been right there and simply moved over. His entire body shifted without any resistance! Even Ye Yu himself did not understand how it happened.
It wasn't until the Crimson Beam shot past his ear that the scorching heat instantly pulled Ye Yu out of that brief moment of distraction.
In that instant, Ye Yu realized that his Mental Power had broken through and reached a new realm! Although he didn't know why his breakthrough had come so quickly, it felt wonderful.
He sensed that the Crimson Light Beam was racing toward the seemingly ordinary man behind him. Just moments ago, Qin Guan had instinctively aimed his gun at Ye Yu's direction after seeing the figure of death looming behind him.
In that instant, Ye Yu also felt the threat of death; that seemingly ordinary man possessed extraordinary abilities! This was not something achievable through physical skills alone; only an ordinary person's capabilities could produce such an astonishing effect!
He was yet another capable individual, one that Ye Yu was unfamiliar with. But that didn’t matter now; just moments ago, he had been unable to track the opponent's movements, yet now he sensed something unusual.
Fast, very fast!
This was Ye Yu's first impression. He saw a beam of laser shooting towards the man, but just as the laser was about to hit him, the man vanished, leaving only a Virtual Image in sight. As for his real location, Ye Yu found himself unable to pinpoint it for the moment!
At that instant, Ye Yu's already unleashed Psychic Power suddenly spread out, and a shadow abruptly appeared in his mind. Ye Yu's face lit up; he had finally caught a glimpse of his opponent's trail.
In the next moment, Ye Yu twisted his body, and the exquisite Phase Gun appeared in his hand!
“Whoosh—”
Almost simultaneously, a Crimson Light Beam shot towards the trajectory that Ye Yu had captured. In less than a blink of an eye, the Laser Beam struck the opponent’s body!
Suddenly, Ye Yu’s expression changed to one of disbelief. The figure that had been hit quickly dissipated, leaving behind only a few faint illusions.
In that fleeting moment, Ye Yu realized that just as he pulled the trigger, the opponent had already moved away! However, this wasn’t surprising; Qin Guan could also evade Laser Beam attacks! What puzzled Ye Yu was that he hadn’t been able to track the opponent’s movement! By the time Ye Yu noticed him again, the man had appeared from an astonishing direction.
The seemingly ordinary man materialized behind Ye Yu without warning; in Ye Yu's perception, it was as if the man had simply emerged from thin air.
“What kind of ability is this!”
Ye Yu didn’t even have time to ponder this question; he knew danger was imminent. His hands moved swiftly, almost simultaneously completing the actions of retracting his gun and drawing his blade.
The cold light flickered, and an incredibly sharp blade of light slashed down towards the figure behind Ye Yu. However, just as Ye Yu was halfway through his strike, he suddenly stopped.
The person in front of him, who appeared to have a faint smile at the corner of their mouth, was merely a virtual image. The real person had vanished without a trace. Indeed, Ye Yu could not track the opponent's movements; with his mental power, no matter how fast someone was, they should not be able to escape his perception.
Unless, of course, the opponent had no trajectory at all! This thought suddenly emerged in Ye Yu's mind, growing stronger by the moment.
Such a capability could ignore the barriers of space and move directly across it. Only in this way could one evade Ye Yu's psychic power detection!
As a member of the Federation, Ye Yu rarely entertained mystical thoughts. Even though he had encountered many unusual individuals, he always sought reasonable explanations.
For someone to cross the barriers of space and move directly to another location was beyond his expectations! From what Ye Yu understood about Federation technology, achieving such an effect would require an astonishing amount of energy!
Yet in that fleeting moment, Ye Yu felt no energy fluctuations; that person simply vanished from his perception and reappeared somewhere else.
At that moment, a spark of realization flashed through Ye Yu's mind. This was a new sensation following his breakthrough in mental power. His vision was no longer limited to what he could see around him; he could even sense things that were invisible!
In the next instant, thin threads, nearly imperceptible to others, shot out in all directions. While no one else could see anything, within Ye Yu's perception, a dense web had formed around him, covering the entire space!
The seemingly ordinary man reappeared, this time much closer to Ye Yu. A dagger glimmering with dark green light appeared in his hand and was soon pressed against Ye Yu's neck.
A smile finally crept onto the man's lips, but it was a chilling grin, reminiscent of a messenger from hell. Of course, he was indeed here to claim a life!
