A glimmer flashed in Long Yin Yue's eyes as he spoke with a serious tone, "The Dragon Family has its responsibilities, and now is not the time for Ling'er to make choices."
"Brother! It's been so many years, why must the Dragon Family bear this responsibility?" Long Ruofei looked at her elder brother, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. She understood well what Long Yin Yue's responsibilities entailed and the sacrifices the Dragon Family had made for them.
"I hope you won't speak like this again," Long Yin Yue said, closing his eyes. In an instant, he vanished from sight. All that remained for Long Ruofei was a faint sigh echoing in her ears.

In the endless void, there was neither space nor time, and no material existence; it was merely a gray expanse. Within this emptiness, life could not be felt, nor any meaning of existence. Yet in the far reaches of this void, a flicker of starlight seemed to shine.
That flicker symbolized the only hope in this desolate place and was the sole exit from the void. At that moment, a faint point of light began to drift toward the exit, and as it floated, it gradually grew larger.
Time passed without measure, and the point of light had transformed into a palm-sized sphere of solid light. However, it still remained far from the exit, as if it would never reach that distant shore.
Suddenly, at that moment, an incredibly powerful aura spread throughout the void. Instantly, warmth filled this lifeless expanse. The light sphere, enveloped by this aura, suddenly expanded and within moments transformed into a glowing humanoid figure.
Then, as if fueled by boundless energy, this luminous figure raced toward the exit. The distance to that seemingly unreachable exit began to close rapidly.
"Ah—" Like a drowning person finally expelling water from their lungs, fresh oxygen surged into Ye Yu's body with a dry heave, filling him with the sensation of being alive once more.
The sunlight remained warm, and he could still catch a hint of osmanthus fragrance in the air. Though Ye Yu kept his eyes closed, he could feel a gentle gaze upon him.
"Welcome back, my hero!" As Ye Yu's eyelashes fluttered lightly open, a melodious voice akin to a nightingale's filled his ears, enchanting him completely.
"Ling'er..." Ye Yu smiled softly as he opened his eyes to see Long Ling'er before him, resembling an ethereal forest spirit. A sense of tranquility washed over him like never before.
At that moment, Ye Yu suddenly felt a warmth on his lips, the faint fragrance wafting from a pair of tender lips that brushed against his, sending an indescribable sense of happiness coursing through his entire being.
"You finally woke up. I was so worried," Long Ling'er said, her emotions finally surfacing as she confirmed that Ye Yu was indeed awake. Tears glistened in her eyes, and she looked at him with a pouting expression that seemed to convey a mix of sweet and bitter feelings.
Ye Yu placed his hand on Long Ling'er's shoulder, noticing the evident fatigue in her eyes. His heart ached as he said, "I'm sorry, Ling'er. It won't happen again."
"Hmph! You think there will be a next time? I don't want to talk to you anymore!" Long Ling'er deliberately turned her head away, pretending to be angry. Yet, to Ye Yu, this display of her emotions only made his heart warm.
Ye Yu chuckled lightly and was about to push himself up from the bed when he suddenly felt a wave of weakness in his arms; even his spine felt powerless at that moment.
"What... is happening to me?" Ye Yu was alarmed. He understood he had been gravely injured and nearly lost his life, but now that he had awakened, with the Federation's advanced biotechnology, even if he were missing limbs, he shouldn't be experiencing such a lack of control over his body.
Hearing Ye Yu's words, Long Ling'er looked flustered. "Brother Jin Shan, you should be fine now that you're awake. Is there anything else wrong?"
"Jin Shan?" Ye Yu's expression changed slightly upon hearing Long Ling'er's words. Jin Shan was a secret he held close to his heart; he wasn't ready to share it with Long Ling'er yet, especially since the Dragon Family was no ordinary family.
"Yes, he's outside waiting for you to wake up before coming in," Long Ling'er said as she noticed Ye Yu's change in demeanor. She immediately stood up, preparing to find Jin Shan.
At that moment, the previously closed silver-white door slid open with a soft sound. A man dressed in a white robe entered slowly.
"Jin Shan!"
"Brother Jin Shan..."
When Ye Yu saw Jin Shan walk in, the anxiety that had been brewing within him settled significantly. He knew Jin Shan's abilities and was certain that the other party would have a way to heal him.
"My esteemed Ling'er, may I speak with Ye Yu alone?" Jin Shan maintained a gentle smile, performing an ancient courtly gesture toward Long Ling'er, indicating for her to step outside.
Although Long Ling'er came from a prestigious family and was not one to be willful, upon hearing Jin Shan's words, she tightly grasped Ye Yu's hand and said, "I'll step out first. When you feel better, let's go eat something delicious!"
It was only after confirming that the door was closed that Jin Shan turned back to Ye Yu and said, "Ling'er... uh... according to your Carbon-Based Life standards, she is quite a good girl."
"Of course, Ling'er is my envoy," Ye Yu instinctively replied, but then looked at Jin Shan with confusion and asked, "What exactly is going on?"
"Nothing much. I won't delay you and the Dragon Lady's future... together forever... is that right?" Jin Shan still wore a calm demeanor, as if discussing something utterly ordinary.
Ye Yu shook his head and continued, "You know I'm not asking about that. I've awakened now, but I still can't exert any strength; this doesn't seem quite normal."
"Your Nanotechnology is indeed impressive. To some extent, your body has already approached perfection. However..." Jin Shan looked at Ye Yu, hesitating to continue.
"But I will ultimately just be a useless person, right?"
Ye Yu's voice was somewhat hoarse as he spoke. He understood Jin Shan's implication; as a practitioner of Fourth-Stage Combat Power, struggling even to rise was hardly different from being incapacitated.
"Although the Phantom Blade preserved your body from being reduced to dust under that force's impact in an instant, that mysterious power still harmed your foundation or your essence. Even with nanotechnology, it is difficult to truly repair your roots..." Jin Shan furrowed his brow, seemingly pondering how to clearly express this to Ye Yu.
