Federation Homeworld
The morning light of winter was like the gaze of the goddess of love, calm yet somewhat cold, unlike the Silver Dragon Star, which offered a warm and comforting heat. Ye Yu sat on a sunlit hillside of the First Military Academy, feeling the mysterious thrill brought by the first rays of sunlight. Yet, despite having felt that gradually surging power countless times before, he still could not sense it.
At this moment, Ye Yu could only focus on cultivating his Mental Power, a force that was more elusive and difficult to master than physical techniques. According to the methods taught by Peak, his level of Mental Power should be quite good. Ye Yu continuously absorbed the freshest morning air, while in his mind, a seemingly fragile yet powerful Psychic Power swirled and danced with his breath, as if trying to break through some shackles.
Suddenly, Ye Yu had a thought and guided strands of Mental Power to flow through the somewhat exhausted meridians in his body. At the same time, he maintained a five-heart position, attempting to absorb the energy from the universe. This was Ye Yu's first attempt at simultaneously controlling Mental Power while practicing physical techniques, trying to use Mental Power to regain the energy for physical training.
However, no matter how hard Ye Yu tried to absorb the faint energy drifting around him, his meridians felt like a bottomless bottle, dissipating all that energy without retaining any. Within just a few minutes, beads of sweat began to form on Ye Yu's forehead.
Even though Ye Yu's Mental Power had increased, controlling this Psychic Power so finely to assist in practicing physical techniques was still an extremely risky and exhausting endeavor.
"It seems it still won't work... Am I destined never to practice physical techniques again?" Being young, Ye Yu couldn't help but feel disheartened by this failed attempt. Previously, Long Yin Yue had given him healing elixirs, but they merely dispersed that uncontrollable power. According to Jin Shan's teachings, if Ye Yu wanted to change his situation, he would have to rely on his own breakthroughs.
"Father, Mother..." In this moment of helplessness, Ye Yu thought of his long-gone parents and felt a pang in his heart as he vowed, "No matter what, I will strive to become stronger!"
Ye Yu then refocused his mind; his Mental Power came under control once more and began to slowly integrate into several key points within his body—these were the core areas for controlling power. Following the rules of physical training, Ye Yu guided those invisible forces into his body. This time, instead of trying to push energy directly inside him, he used the power of Mental Power to merge these forces into his meridians and limbs.
"Hiss—" A sharp pain shot into Ye Yu's mind as if countless tiny needles were trying to pierce every inch of his skin. However, this pain was much lighter compared to the previous experience when chaotic power nearly tore him apart.
"Merge!" At that moment, Ye Yu's face contorted with effort; torrents of sweat poured down like rain, quickly soaking him through.
Due to the pain, Ye Yu's entire body trembled involuntarily; even the weeds around him cracked under his shaking.
Through Mental Power, Ye Yu sensed that those critical points in his body felt like they were undergoing torture. That seemingly weak energy placed an immense burden on him. Soon after, he felt a wave of soreness in his head as if he might faint at any moment.
"Break!" Ye Yu nearly bit his lip as he forcefully channeled his Mental Power, pushing that energy into his body through the techniques he had been practicing. The faint energy seemed to be intimidated by Ye Yu's momentum, and just as his words fell, he felt a thread of cosmic energy successfully merging into him.
Suddenly, at that moment, Ye Yu sensed an extreme danger approaching. An invisible force was watching him with hostility, as if it were ready to attack at any moment.
Years of instinct kicked in, pulling Ye Yu out of his training state in an instant. However, the energy that had seemed on the verge of merging with him dissipated as he halted his practice.
At this point, Ye Yu couldn't afford to think too much. Although he believed that the Federation's security mechanisms would prevent any super-class assassins from entering the First Military Academy, it was undeniable that someone within the Federation Homeworld might have received news of the bounty and come to assassinate him.
In a split second, Ye Yu's Mental Power enveloped his surroundings. Yet, having just expended too much Mental Power, he felt somewhat drained. Of course, Ye Yu wasn't foolish; the moment he released his Mental Power, he sprinted toward the teaching building. Although he lacked the enhanced strength from his martial arts training at that moment, his physical fitness was still quite impressive. He ran like a cheetah, swift and agile.
As Ye Yu's Mental Power spread out, he quickly sensed a human presence nearby. He turned to look in that direction and caught a glimpse of a slender figure in First Military Academy student attire flash past.
"Not an assassin?" Ye Yu paused for a moment, realizing that while the presence had initially felt hostile, it had now completely vanished. It was as if it had all been a misunderstanding. However, Ye Yu couldn't help but feel resentment; he had been so close to success only to be interrupted by that person.
But just as Ye Yu was lost in thought, the slender figure had already disappeared. More and more students were getting up to prepare for class, and Ye Yu knew he couldn't search for that person now. Reluctantly, he returned to his single dormitory to freshen up before heading to the Comprehensive Building for his public class.
Despite rushing, he only made it into the classroom—capable of holding five hundred people—just as the bell rang. He found his group members and took a seat they had saved for him.
"Boss, hurry up! Class is starting!" Wang Jiu exclaimed upon seeing Ye Yu, quickly standing up to greet him. Even Nasha, who usually gave off an unapproachable vibe, smiled and nodded at Ye Yu.
Ye Yu nodded back at everyone and thought to himself that although last night's dinner had been quite expensive—even for someone of his financial means—it was worth it. The atmosphere shifted from initial awkwardness to one resembling old friends catching up after years apart. Even Chen Tang, who often seemed gloomy, ended up chatting animatedly with everyone.
Of course, no one forgot the most important thing: as Nasha said, they had to secure first place!
