The Federation claims that the brilliance of its freedom and democracy shines upon every inch of its territory, yet the reality is that the Federation still has distinct social classes. The so-called upper class looks down on those beneath them with utter disdain.
Even though Chen Tang and Wang Jiu are students of the First Military Academy, they remain insignificant compared to the already successful elite. Thus, in Ye Cheng's eyes, Chen Tang and Wang Jiu do not even register. As for Xia Chiu, he did not know her at all; although she seemed somewhat extraordinary, Ye Cheng was not in the mood to make her acquaintance.
"Attorney Ye, although Peak is your nephew, you don't need to be so aggressive!" Professor X, who usually maintained a smiling demeanor, now spoke with restrained anger. "If the Gao Family wants to save face, they shouldn't bully a child. I refuse to believe you can cover this up!"
Ye Cheng did not expect this seemingly carefree professor to stand up for a freshman. After all, Peak was seriously injured; did these people feel no guilt at all?
"Professor, I'm just a lawyer, and everything I do is naturally determined by the brilliance of the Federation. If I must cover something up, it will be done reasonably under Federal Radiance." Ye Cheng knew that Professor X held a significant position, but since he was not part of the military, he felt no fear of the former General X. Moreover, he did not need to rely on the resources of the First Military Academy and thus was not intimidated by Professor X.
"What an impressive figure you are, demanding a billion in compensation as if the laws of the Federation are a joke!" Nasha, known for her straightforward nature, scoffed at this man she had only met once before, even though he might one day become her elder.
Ye Cheng wondered if Nasha would end up with his nephew in the future. He looked at Professor X and said, "If the Gao Family intends to pursue this further, Ye Yu might soon find himself facing military police rather than discussing compensation here."
"I know more about Peak's situation than you do. If the Gao Family wants to pursue this matter, it would be a provocation against the entire First Military Academy! The tournament is governed by established rules; if anyone should be blamed, it should be the First Military Academy that bears this responsibility!" Professor X initially believed that any issues arising from such events should be resolved within the confines of the First Military Academy.
However, later on, a friend in the legal department informed him that the Gao Family had actually filed for compensation while the First Military Academy had sent only an intern lawyer to assist in resolving the matter. Although Professor X typically avoided meddling in such affairs, he guessed that the old man from the Gao Family would naturally disdain such actions; however, those with ulterior motives were another matter entirely.
Professor X had always liked Ye Yu as a student; he saw his younger self reflected in him—equally low-key, sincere towards others, and stubbornly unafraid.
Now that he learned his student was being bullied, he could not stand idly by. Moreover, Ye Yu had done nothing wrong in this situation. In martial arts competitions, even fatalities were commonplace; being seriously injured was not even the worst outcome. The First Military Academy was stricter with its students compared to other institutions and essentially trained them according to battlefield rules. After all, when one truly enters a battlefield, regardless of lineage or background, everyone faces death with only one life.
"Professor, you're exaggerating. The Gao Family has three generations who have attended the First Military Academy; how could I dare act so recklessly?" At this moment, cold sweat dripped down Ye Cheng's back. The old man from the Gao Family had not come looking for him directly; however, he knew how much his sister adored her nephew and thus rushed to resolve this issue immediately. Of course, as the current leading family of the Federation, they would not handle matters ostentatiously; hence he came on behalf of his sister to address this problem.
The women who could marry into the Gao Family were certainly not ordinary, but thinking of her son suffering such severe injuries, a mother could hardly remain rational. If it weren't for the fact that Ye Yu was still in the subordinate hospital of the First Military Academy, Madam Gao would have likely resorted to some unconventional methods. Thus, when Madam Gao was furious, her brother Ye Cheng naturally had to share the burden. Although Ye Cheng knew that his actions were against the rules, as long as the other party was willing to compensate, others wouldn't have much to say.
"Peak's injuries will naturally be covered by insurance, and the First Military Academy has a relevant foundation to handle the subsequent rehabilitation costs. I do not wish to hear about any unreasonable compensation again!" Professor X was inherently a kind person, but he despised those who bullied others with power. Therefore, his attitude towards Ye Cheng was far from friendly.
Ye Cheng's expression darkened; the last person who spoke to him like this seemed destined to spend their life in prison. Although he had just recently become a lawyer, most people had given him face due to either his own abilities or his connections with the Gao Family. However, facing Professor X, his inner defenses were crumbling.
"Professor, as a hero of the Federation and a senior professor at the First Military Academy, you don't need to handle these matters personally." Peak knew that flattering someone at the right moment was often more effective than taking action.
"He is my student; he won in my assessment class and is now being asked to compensate. This makes no sense at all!"
Hearing Professor X's words warmed Ye Yu's heart. This time he finally understood the weight of what it meant to be chosen as Professor X's student. Perhaps it was true what they said in ancient times: a teacher is also like a father.
"Professor..." Ye Yu didn't know what to say. Years of military life had made his character extremely resilient, but it also left him unable to express his emotions. At this moment, seeing X stand up for him, he wanted to say something but found himself at a loss.
"Focus on your recovery; I'll handle the other issues!" Professor X looked at Ye Yu with evident admiration. He knew well about this student's physical challenges. Years ago, Ye Yu had no martial arts energy at all, but after some time he reached level one and even unleashed level four energy at a critical moment. With such a student, how could Professor X not like him?
Just then, Ye Cheng suddenly glanced at his wrist communicator and tapped on it. However, the other party did not use holographic projection for their conversation, so no one could tell who he was speaking with.
Fortunately, Ye Cheng's conversation didn't last long—less than ten seconds—during which his expression shifted from confusion to disbelief and finally settled into resignation.
"This matter with Madam Gao ends here; the Gao Family will not pursue it further!" Ye Cheng turned off the communicator and steadied his emotions before speaking.
