In early summer on the Federation Homeworld, the cheerful chirping of cicadas filled the air, lacking the gentle warmth of the spring breeze. Some students seemed to have forgotten that summer had arrived, still dressed in thick spring clothing. As they hurried past the afternoon sunlight, they instinctively tugged at their clothes and squinted, only to realize that summer had indeed come.
Initially, the Arrow Camp was stationed on a desolate planet, where one could hardly feel the vibrant energy of nature transitioning from spring to early summer. With classes now over, Ye Yu had intended to head to the training grounds for more practice, as he felt on the verge of a breakthrough. However, on this lazy summer afternoon, even a training fanatic like Ye Yu couldn't help but slow his pace and stroll along the shaded path.
The First Military Academy resembled a miniature society; although students were strictly prohibited from going out, the services here were comparable to those in the outside world. Unbeknownst to him, Ye Yu wandered into the school's commercial street, which offered nearly all services related to student life.
"Ling'er should just be finishing her morning class; I should look for her!" Shopping alone was always dull, especially when one had a partner—doing so seemed almost inappropriate. The next moment, Ye Yu took out his Quantum Communicator and began calling Long Ling'er.
"Beep beep beep—" Ye Yu looked at his communicator, noticing that Long Ling'er's avatar remained gray.
With a helpless shake of his head, Ye Yu felt a twinge of disappointment but decided to cheer himself up and continue browsing.
Suddenly, a flash of red caught Ye Yu's eye as a striking figure appeared before him. The newcomer wore bright red lipstick and had long hair cascading down her shoulders. A red dress hugged her curvaceous figure, and a hint of white peeking through added an alluring charm.
" Xia Chiu —" Ye Yu instinctively swallowed hard; who else could it be but Xia Chiu? This was his first time seeing her dressed so maturely. Her once doll-like face was concealed beneath exquisite makeup, giving her an entirely different allure.
"What's wrong? Don't you think your sister looks beautiful today?" Xia Chiu raised her fair arm and patted Ye Yu's shoulder. In an instant, that subtle beauty she exuded seemed to vanish.
"Um... you always look beautiful," Ye Yu had initially prepared to retort but suddenly recalled that he had never been good at flattering girls. He found himself complimenting her without thinking.
"Slick talker." At that moment, a cool voice rang in Ye Yu's ears, laced with disdain. He felt his face flush with embarrassment.
Ye Yu hadn't expected that his first attempt at complimenting someone would earn him the label of a slick talker. He stood there awkwardly until he noticed that behind Xia Chiu stood another girl dressed in white.
The girl had airy bangs, and her long black hair was casually tied back. Her delicate face bore no makeup, yet it exuded a fragile beauty. Her eyes, resembling black gemstones, were like a serene and beautiful galaxy in the night sky—calm and distant. She wore a cream-colored blouse with a slightly open collar, paired with fitted long pants, and light-colored flats on her feet. Overall, she gave off an elegant and refreshing vibe, with a hint of coolness amidst her spirited demeanor.
"Cousin, you can't discourage him like this. It's the first time I've heard him say something like that," Xia Chiu said playfully to the girl in white, noticing Ye Yu's embarrassed expression.
"Oh? What is your relationship?" The girl in white seemed surprised by Xia Chiu's enthusiastic defense of Ye Yu. After all, she knew her cousin was quite proud and didn't particularly like overly flattering people.
Xia Chiu suddenly felt a bit flushed but continued, "We're classmates; he's also the captain of my team."
"Right... his name is Ye Yu, from Silver Dragon Star," Xia Chiu turned to Ye Yu and introduced him to the girl in white. "This is my cousin, Shao Susu!"
Ye Yu felt somewhat stiff—not because he was overly excited to see a beautiful girl, but because he realized who she was at that moment.
"To be your team captain must mean he has some skills," Shao Susu said, her star-like beautiful eyes fixed on Ye Yu, her expression unreadable.
"Yes... of course. His Psychic Power level has reached the Stellar level, and his previous martial arts level was at Rank Four. However, after being severely injured, his martial energy disappeared, and now he has just retrained to Rank One," Xia Chiu explained. Having trained with everyone else, she naturally understood Ye Yu's current situation.
"Is it you?" At that moment, a familiar voice echoed in Ye Yu's mind. He recognized it as coming from the girl named Shao Susu.
"Is it you?"
Ye Yu chose to respond using Mental Power. He didn't understand why Shao Susu pretended there had been no prior connection between them but decided to cooperate with her by using Psychic Power for communication.
"Do you like my cousin?" Before Ye Yu could think of how to respond, Shao Susu's question nearly left him speechless.
"No, I have a girlfriend," Ye Yu quickly stated the truth, fearing further questions from the other party.
At that moment, Ye Yu noticed the other person slightly furrowed their brow, but they soon spoke up, "Stellar level? Then we might have a chance to spar."
Hearing this, Ye Yu's tone became more relaxed as he smiled and replied, "Miss Shao, you're being too modest. Your strength is definitely above mine; how could I dare to spar with you?"
Xia Chiu often mentioned her cousin in front of Ye Yu, so he naturally knew how formidable this seemingly aloof girl was among her peers. His Psychic Power could compete with hers, but her martial arts skills could easily crush him.
"Of course, we should spar using your specialty, Psychic Power. If we were to fight using martial arts, what would be the point?" Shao Susu understood Ye Yu's expression and knew what he was thinking. She also recognized the difficulty of mastering Mental Power; achieving such a level before turning twenty was no small feat.
"Well, if you two training fanatics are together, then I won't have much to do," Xia Chiu exaggeratedly stuck out her tongue and then pulled both of their arms. "Let's go shopping and eat something delicious instead; it's after class and you two are still so serious."
Feeling suddenly hungry from Xia Chiu's words, Ye Yu quickened his pace toward the commercial street.
"Minghou Mountain, let's spar with Mental Power!" Just as Ye Yu lifted his foot to move, a familiar voice echoed in his mind.
