There is an old saying in the Empire: things can only get more troublesome! For most people, if they worry about something, the outcome is likely to be even worse.
Ye Yu knew that the unfavorable situation regarding Xia Chiu was indeed serious. Especially upon seeing Shao Susu personally arrive, it was clear that larger forces were involved.
"Arson? Manipulating others' mental worlds?" Ye Yu asked uncertainly. The two accusations were already severe enough; if Ye Yu couldn't prove his innocence, it would be quite troublesome.
"All of this requires concrete evidence. If we can find evidence, it can be resolved. But the problem is that the person who came in with you is a child of a congressman, and now they are accusing you of human rights violations. Moreover, the Ninth-Level Master who arrested you has voluntarily testified that you used Mental Power to control others to commit illegal acts!" Shao Susu's expression remained largely unchanged, her cold face as if she were discussing an ordinary matter.
"A congressman's child? And they went to commit arson?" Ye Yu's voice suddenly rose, startling two nearby officers who looked over.
Seeing this, Xia Chiu immediately waved her hand to signal that everything was fine, and the two officers did not approach. After all, Ye Yu was still in the evidence collection phase and was not yet considered a true criminal.
"Right now, Sister Nasha is outside with Chen Tang gathering evidence. However, since we are all students, even though some have family resources, there isn't much we can use. By the time they find suitable evidence, it might be too late," Xia Chiu said anxiously. After nearly half a year of getting to know him, she had developed some fondness for this big boy and naturally didn't want to see him wrongfully accused.
"It seems I won't make it for the upcoming exam. I wonder how the academy will view this situation." At this moment, Ye Yu wanted to ask Jin Shan for help; after all, only Jin Shan could quickly locate the surveillance footage from that time to prove Ye Yu's innocence.
However, Jin Shan's abilities had not fully recovered yet. Ye Yu worried that if Jin Shan tried to access sensitive information, it might attract the Federation's attention. Under the shadow of Federal Radiance, privacy data was strictly controlled. If Jin Shan's actions were discovered by them, given the Federation's style, they would definitely investigate thoroughly.
Moreover, this was a special period; a single arson case had already drawn out a super expert from Nine Levels. If Jin Shan touched the Federation's sore spot, Ye Yu believed he might truly be too late.
"The lawyer I brought is currently handling your bail procedures; I hope nothing unexpected happens," Shao Susu said while looking at Ye Yu with an oddly expressive gaze. "I wouldn't want to lose a suitable Psychic Power training partner like you for no reason."
"Cousin, if Brother Yu is so impressive, he’s certainly worth your acquaintance. If you're willing to recommend him, perhaps Uncle will come to help; then it wouldn't be such a hassle!" Xia Chiu chimed in at that moment but lowered her voice instinctively towards the end.
Ye Yu naturally understood the status of the Shao Family within the Federation. If her family members were willing to help, there would be no significant issues.
"My family's elders are quite familiar with that expert from Nine Levels. Even if I wanted to ask for their assistance, it would be impossible," Shao Susu said. Although she was a standout among the younger generation of the Shao Family, her current abilities did not grant her the power to influence the decisions of the family elders.
To outsiders, it might seem that if Shao Susu wanted a planet, her family would fulfill her request. However, she knew that a large family was never short of talent. Despite her excellence, she had yet to fully mature and had no real power to speak of.
"This matter shouldn't trouble Miss Shao's family. The Federation is a place that values evidence. As long as it's not my fault, the truth will eventually come to light!"
At this point, Ye Yu felt a sudden pang in his heart. He had heard those words over a decade ago from his father. Unfortunately, his father never lived to see the truth revealed. Perhaps the brilliance of the Federation could illuminate every corner, but there were always places that remained shrouded in darkness.
Just then, Ye Yu heard hurried footsteps approaching. Xia Chiu and Shao Susu also noticed and turned to see a middle-aged man in professional attire walking toward them with a set of documents in hand.
"What’s going on, Uncle Hei?" Shao Susu asked, her face showing a hint of anticipation. She knew that this dedicated lawyer serving her family was quite capable and should not disappoint her.
The man referred to as Uncle Hei had fair skin, but at that moment, his expression was somewhat grim as he said, "Based on the current evidence and Mr. Ye's status as a military officer, bail should not be an issue. However, the other party has consistently refused to agree. After some inquiries, I found out that members of the council have already intervened!"
Ye Yu was taken aback; he hadn't anticipated things would escalate so severely. He had always thought of himself as just an ordinary person—why would he attract the attention of such significant figures?
"What other options do we have?" Shao Susu asked, surprised by this outcome and how quickly it had risen to such high levels.
"Unless there is direct evidence to support Mr. Ye's claims!" Uncle Hei looked at Ye Yu at this moment, puzzled as to why his sister would suddenly assist someone who seemed rather unremarkable and prone to causing trouble. He simply overlooked the fact that anyone who could attract such high-profile attention could not be an ordinary person.
"Uncle Hei..." Ye Yu began to speak but was abruptly interrupted by another round of hurried footsteps.
The four of them were somewhat surprised and turned their gazes toward the sound. A tall woman in high heels was striding over quickly.
"This... Aunt Shen?" Xia Chiu glanced at the newcomer with a hint of surprise, her eyes filled with confusion.
"Qiu, let's talk later; I have something urgent!" The visitor was indeed Tang Shenshen. Perhaps she was a bit anxious from her hurried arrival, as her chest was rising and falling rapidly, causing those around her to instinctively feel tense.
"Tang Shenshen?" Ye Yu asked uncertainly. He certainly hadn't expected to encounter this intern lawyer again.
"Oh my, you are really hard to find! Luckily, I had my senior help me several times, and I finally tracked you down here!" Tang Shenshen said, catching her breath as she pulled a metallic object from her backpack.
"What is that?" everyone asked almost in unison.
"Of course, it's the video evidence to help Ye Yu clear his name!" Tang Shenshen shot them an annoyed glance, her expression one of good intentions being mistaken for something else.
