Even on a clear day, the brilliance of the stars struggled to pierce through the layers of clouds in the Lost Secret Realm. Occasionally, a Breeze would sweep by, bringing with it a hint of salty air that carried a trace of sunlight.
Ye Yu gazed at the lifeless body of the Star Beast on the ground, feeling a stir in his heart. He turned to Long Ling'er beside him and asked, "Ling'er, would you like some roasted meat?" Having lived in Arrow Camp for a long time, far from the normal life of the Federation, he had trained and executed missions in a survival-focused environment where resourcefulness was key.
Long Ling'er nodded, her concerns typical of any girl. The people from Silver Dragon Star were more martial than those from other regions of the Federation, and girls here were not afraid of the terrifying appearance of the Star Beast.
"We have ten people; two Star Beasts should be enough," Ye Yu continued as he looked at the Star Beast before him. "It's said that there is advanced energy within a Third-Stage Star Beast, which might be beneficial for us Martial Arts Practitioners."
Without further hesitation, Ye Yu sprang into action, leaping to retrieve two relatively intact Third-Stage Star Beasts and heading toward their convoy. He then jumped onto the roof of one Multi-Purpose Vehicle, securing the Star Beasts on top.
"Let's go!" Ye Yu spoke into the vehicle's communicator and started the engine. "According to the map, there's a Freshwater Lake marked as number 26 about two hours' drive at three o'clock. We'll set up camp there for now."
The journey was uneventful for two hours as dusk began to settle. Perhaps due to their proximity to Freshwater Lake, mist began to envelop the area around the vehicle, obscuring their view ahead. The fog stirred by their movement seemed almost ghostly, swirling around them in an eerie dance.
Even with the high beams on, visibility remained poor. Ye Yu had no choice but to expend some Mental Power to sense any unstable elements hidden within the mist.
Before long, he detected a cold energy within his Psychic Power perception and realized they had arrived at Freshwater Lake number 26.
Ye Yu then noticed a button in front of him and pressed it. A burst of red and green light emitted from one side of the Multi-Purpose Vehicle—special fireworks designed for the Lost Secret Realm environment.
The illumination from the fireworks was brief but allowed everyone to see a dark expanse of water less than a hundred meters away at ten o'clock from their convoy. A section of the lake reflected the light from the fireworks.
Taking advantage of the remaining glow, Ye Yu quickly turned the vehicle around and parked about fifty meters from the lakeshore. Shortly after, Shao Susu followed closely behind but suddenly veered away as she approached Ye Yu's vehicle. Her vehicle came to a stop, forming a triangular arrowhead shape alongside Ye Yu's vehicle.
"Set up the tent!" Ye Yu took out the inflatable tent from the trunk and laid it on the ground. He then retrieved the inflation device, and soon a two-person tent was fully formed. The material of this tent was military-grade, capable of defending against common snakes, insects, and rodents, as well as withstanding attacks from ordinary wild beasts, making it extremely suitable for camping in the wilderness.
The others were not slow either, though there were some minor complications. Originally intended for two people, the tent was meant for those who had a relationship. However, after everyone paired up, it became clear that Gale and Nasha could not stay together. In the end, Nasha simply said, "I'll just rest in the car," and that resolved everything.
"Boss, so you had me bring a whole box of alcohol for your sister-in-law!" Wang Jiu appeared beside Ye Yu at some point, saying this with a hint of jealousy. Naturally, he was the one who wanted to share a tent with Nasha the most, but unfortunately, such things could only be wished for; he didn’t have the courage to bring it up.
"I heard Nasha can't hold her liquor," Ye Yu chuckled at Wang Jiu and then ignored him, jumping onto the roof of the car while carrying two already drained Third-Stage Star Beasts toward the lake.
Ye Yu had been young during his time at Arrow Camp and hadn’t participated in many operations; most of the time he stayed in the safest places. Of course, Arrow Camp wouldn’t keep useless people around, so during those times, Ye Yu had to help his comrades process the food they brought back from hunting.
At this moment, Ye Yu wasted no time. Standing by the water's edge, he accurately sliced through the soft part of the Star Beast's neck with his short knife. Then, as if guided by an unseen force, the blade followed the flesh's veins and peeled away effortlessly. In just a few minutes, he had skinned one Star Beast.
"Nice technique; you can help me chop vegetables in the future," Jin Shan joked as he stood in front of Ye Yu holding a two-meter-long wooden stick about the thickness of an arm. Ye Yu took the stick from Jin Shan and promptly inserted it into the Star Beast's body.
Meanwhile, a roaring bonfire had already been lit in the center of the tent area. Wooden racks for grilling had been set up on either side of the fire, their shadows dancing in the flickering light.
Ye Yu approached the bonfire and was greeted by a wave of long-lost dry air that felt indescribably comfortable. The humidity in Lost Secret Realm was too heavy, especially by the lake; at this moment, only the flickering flames could briefly drive away that chill.
Then Ye Yu skillfully placed the Star Beast on the rack while holding one end of the stick and began to rotate it.
"Wang Jiu, spices!" Ye Yu reached out and took a spice packet from Wang Jiu's hand. After that, without any visible action from him, the spice packet opened automatically as if drawn by an invisible force, and its contents flew toward the Star Beast.
In an instant, a bizarre scene unfolded: those spices seemed to be commanded as they evenly coated the Star Beast's body. At this moment, Ye Yu closed his eyes slightly trembling; clearly, all of this was under his control through Mental Power.
"Boss is impressive!" Wang Jiu exclaimed, his eyes fixed on the Star Beast that was starting to sizzle, unconsciously licking his lips.
"Add some fruit wine to mask the Star Beast's gamey flavor." At that moment, Ye Yu resembled a gourmet as he took out a bottle of pale green liquor. He then evenly splashed the liquid over every part of the Star Beast with his Mental Power.
Before long, a unique aroma of meat mixed with the fragrance of the wine wafted from the Star Beast, accompanied by a hint of sweet fruitiness. The combination of these scents made everyone's mouths water and their appetites surge.
With a "bang," Wang Jiu retrieved a bottle of fine wine from his Ability space and uncorked it. Instantly, the rich aroma of the wine mingled with the meaty scent, spreading along the lakeshore. Along with the flickering firelight and the rhythmic sound of waves lapping against the shore, an indescribable sense of tranquility enveloped everyone.
