Yama's Wedding
Yao Guang and Xue returned to the house.
“Xue, do you think Xiao Yao Yu is really a bad person?” This question had been on Yao Guang's mind for a long time during their journey. She couldn't come to a conclusion; she only felt sadness at the death of someone who had harmed her, rather than any sense of happiness.
Xue handed Yao Guang a glass of water and said, “There is always something hateful about a pitiful person.”
“There's always something hateful about a pitiful person.” Yao Guang repeated Xue's words. Perhaps this was the epitome of Xiao Yao Yu's life; hatred had caused him to lose his heart. He could see nothing, yet he wasn't the kind of person who took pleasure in killing. In the end, such a death could be considered a form of liberation.
“Yao Guang, we should bid farewell to Xiao Yao Hao tomorrow!” Upon hearing Xue's words, Yao Guang felt the same way. She no longer wanted to stay in this villa; too many people had died here. Watching so many disappear around her, there was nothing left for Yao Guang to hold onto. She remembered how curious she had been when she first entered the villa, often arguing with Xiao Yao Jia. Although it sometimes annoyed her, it also brought some liveliness. However, she never expected that this once bustling villa would now be empty.
“Alright, Xue.” Yao Guang thought for a moment and then said, “No, Xue, we can't leave tomorrow.”
“Why not?” Xue had already sensed Yao Guang's desire to leave; why was she changing her mind?
“Liu Qing.” As soon as Yao Guang mentioned Liu Qing's name, Xue understood.

"Yao Guang, you know I am the King of Underworld, governing the life and death of this world," Xue said, looking at Yao Guang.
"I know, but why are you bringing this up all of a sudden?" Yao Guang was puzzled as to why Xue would suddenly mention this; she was well aware that he was the King of Underworld.
Seeing that Yao Guang did not grasp what he wanted to convey, Xue had to repeat himself. "Yao Guang, Liu Qing is already dead!"
"I know... Liu Qing..." Yao Guang's voice trailed off. Yes, she had forgotten that Liu Qing was indeed gone. Why was she still thinking about her and Xiao Yao Hao? They could never be together now. No wonder Xue had only asked her if she wanted to see Liu Qing one last time; after that meeting, Liu Qing would be gone for good.
"Xue, will you send Liu Qing to Underworld for reincarnation?" Yao Guang asked him.
"Yao Guang, that is my responsibility." Without elaborating further, Xue knew that Yao Guang would understand. Liu Qing had lingered in this world for far too long without being reincarnated in Underworld. Moreover, Liu Qing's soul could no longer undergo reincarnation. Of course, this was something he could never tell Yao Guang.
"Can't there be any leniency?" Yao Guang still held onto a glimmer of hope as she asked Xue. She knew she was being selfish and putting him in a difficult position, but Liu Qing was a good friend she had met in this mountain villa, and she had seen her past struggles. Looking at Xue, who made her feel so happy now, she wished for Liu Qing to find happiness as well. She believed that her ending with Xiao Yao Hao should not have been like this.
Xue remained silent at Yao Guang's words, simply watching her quietly.
In the silence from Xue, Yao Guang understood his meaning. Was it really impossible? She did not blame him; as the King of Underworld, he had his own responsibilities. Her own situation had already made things difficult for him; as for Liu Qing... it was futile. In this lifetime, all she could do was hope that in the next life, Liu Qing would find happiness.
Seeing Yao Guang's sadness, Xue stepped forward and embraced her. "Yao Guang, it's okay." He offered no more comforting words; he had witnessed many such partings and reunions. While he could not fully empathize with Yao Guang's sorrow, he did not want her to feel so sad while being with him.
"Xue, am I being too selfish? I just want Liu Qing to be well and happy," Yao Guang buried her head in Xue's chest, her voice choked with emotion.
"Yao Guang, you can be selfish in front of me." Xue gently patted her shoulder, helping her calm down gradually.
Perhaps it was the warmth of Xue's embrace, or perhaps it was his tenderness, but Yao Guang actually fell asleep in his arms.
Xue ld Yao Guang close, this child whose heart was so kind. Such a Yao Guang was both wonderful and troubling. Xue looked compassionately at the sleeping Yao Guang, wondering how much longer he could remain with her like this.
