"Brother, I didn't expect you to have such good taste!"
Yao Guang watched as the group that had just been fighting was now laughing and joking with Xue, acting like old friends. He couldn't help but be astonished.
Old Five, who looked burly and strong, was the first to engage in conversation with Xue, displaying a surprisingly hearty personality.
Yao Guang couldn't shake off the memory of what had just happened.
What? Xue actually wanted to join them? He must have misheard; Xue was definitely telling them to step aside, not to join. Yao Guang knocked on his own head, trying to convince himself.
"What do you mean by that?" The Red-Clad Woman jumped down from a height and asked.
"I want to join you," Xue said, spreading his arms with a smile. Yao Guang's eyes widened behind him; was Xue joking?
"Young Master, are you serious?"
It wasn't just the woman who found it hard to believe; even Yao Guang, who was with Xue, couldn't accept it!
Dressed in such expensive clothing, exuding an air of nobility with every gesture—how could he possibly look like a bandit? This wasn't Yao Guang looking down on bandits; it was like imagining an emperor or a prince rolling up their sleeves to do manual labor—it was simply impossible! The thought of such a scene made Yao Guang feel extremely uneasy; it was more unsettling than eating bugs.
"Of course I'm not joking, Head of the Family. I'm just stating my intention," Xue's arrogant words ignited anger among the people behind the Head of the Family.
"Head of the Family, let me deal with this ignorant fool."
"Indeed, Head of the Family, you sit here while we meet him."
With a wave of her hand, the woman silenced the agitated crowd. She turned to Xue, who was chatting and laughing with Yao Guang.
"Xue, do you really want to join them?" Yao Guang asked.
"Of course, don't I look sincere enough? I really want to join them," Xue replied, looking puzzled at Yao Guang.
Your demeanor is anything but sincere; anyone who sees you would think you're joking! Yao Guang could only shake his head inwardly. He knew that Xue must have a reason for suddenly deciding to join them, but could he at least try to appear a bit more genuine? Didn't he see that those people looked ready to come over and fight him at any moment? Rather than wanting to join them, it seemed like Xue was there to provoke them.
"Do you really want to join us?" The woman stepped forward and asked Xue again.
"Naturally."
"Good, come with us."
Is that it? Yao Guang could hardly believe his ears. It seemed that not only was Xue confusing him, but this Head of the Family was equally perplexing.
"Yao Guang, let's go." Seeing that Yao Guang was still in a daze, Xue urged him on.
"Head of the Family, this person’s origins are unclear; should you reconsider?"
"Head of the Family, I think so too." Upon hearing the Red-Clad Woman's decision, the crowd began murmuring around her, constantly speaking ill of Xue.
"Enough. My decision is my own. Besides, who among you can defeat him?" With a single statement, she silenced the crowd.
Yao Guang looked at the woman's aura and couldn't help but admire her in silence. As a woman herself, she felt that this woman exuded much more presence. Just look, as soon as she spoke, everyone else fell silent. This was what it meant to be graceful; when would she ever be like that? Yao Guang pondered with a hint of frustration.
"Yao Guang, you are absolutely unique in my presence. I will listen to whatever you say," Xue suddenly appeared right in front of Yao Guang, startling her. Hearing Xue's words, Yao Guang was taken aback; did Xue use some sort of mind-reading technique? How else could she know what Yao Guang was thinking? Yao Guang patted her chest, realizing that she needed to stop overthinking. Without any magical abilities, she indeed felt at a disadvantage, and besides, Xue had become quite cunning lately.
"Yao Guang, I know you're cursing me in your heart."
"You’re using your magic recklessly to bully me," Yao Guang accused.
Xue waved her hand dismissively. "I didn't use any magic. As for how I know what you're thinking, in the human world, we call it a meeting of minds." Xue said proudly in front of Yao Guang.
Xue had completely turned into someone mischievous in the human realm.
Thus, the scene before Yao Guang unfolded: people kept their distance from her and Xue, their eyes filled with wariness. However, Old Five seemed particularly excited upon hearing that Xue wanted to join them. He rushed over eagerly to talk to Xue, sharing a camaraderie that felt like heroes recognizing each other.
"Young Master Xue, this lady is your wife."
Why ask like that with such disdain? When Yao Guang heard Old Five mention her name, she quickly perked up her ears to listen.
"Indeed, she is my wife," Xue replied.
"Tsk, what a pity! Young Master Xue, you are so handsome and talented, yet you have this lovely wife," Old Five remarked as he glanced between Xue and Yao Guang, sighing repeatedly.
"What do you mean by that? Is there something about our marriage that displeases you?" Yao Guang shot back while giving Xue an annoyed glare. In this moment with Old Five, Xue seemed like an outsider who allowed Old Five to scrutinize her.
Xue silently accepted Yao Guang's glare and smiled back at her.
"What's there to laugh about! It's too late to try to please yourself!" Yao Guang thought, feeling a bit offended.
"Ah, you misunderstood. I was just looking at Young Master Xue and thought you were his... no, I thought you were his sister. I was just thinking that if Young Master Xue doesn't get married, it would be great if he could be with our Head of the Family. They really seem like a perfect match," Old Five explained clumsily, scratching his head in confusion.
What perfect match! She and Xue were deeply in love, weren't they? And don't think she didn't hear that; he just implied she was Xue's maid. How could she possibly resemble Xue's maid? After all, she was Star Lord Yao Guang, a fairy in her own right. Why did it seem like she was worth so little in their eyes? The Radiant Light Bureau felt quite hurt by this and was very unhappy.
"That’s flattering, but I only have my one and only husband in this life. You should look for someone else," Xue said. He could tease Yao Guang for fun, but he had to stick to his principles; he couldn't let Yao Guang get too angry, or he would end up suffering.
Hearing Xue's words about being a married couple made Yao Guang's heart flutter with happiness. Alright then, she forgave him.
Seeing that Yao Guang was no longer angry, Xue smiled with relief.
Old Five observed their interaction and realized that Young Master Xue and Madam Xue must be very much in love. Although Young Master Xue was wonderful, they wouldn't force him into anything against his will.
The three of them shared a laugh and soon arrived outside the Bandit Hideout.
"This is our base. Please," the Red-Clad Woman said as she stopped and gestured toward Xue.
Xue and Yao Guang also put away their playful thoughts, exchanged glances, and stepped into the now-burned Bandit Hideout as described by the locals.
