Everyone shut their eyes in fear; the sight of a beautiful woman dying before them was too horrific to bear. A loud "bang" echoed, but it didn't sound like a blade piercing flesh. 0

Yao Guang cautiously opened her eyes, and nothing had happened. Jun Ruo no longer wore his serious demeanor; instead, he was grinning as he sheathed his sword. 0

Old Five knelt beside the woman, shielding her with his body, and neither of them bore a single scratch. The crowd looked at Jun Ruo in confusion. 0

"Head of the Family, what is this?" Old Five asked as he released the woman. 0

"It's nothing. I just wanted to see if she was really mute," Jun Ruo replied casually. 0

Yao Guang was taken aback by Jun Ruo's method of testing. Who wouldn't be terrified by such a stunt? Wasn't this playing with someone's life? She silently thanked her luck that she wasn't the one being tested; otherwise, Jun Ruo would have surely scared her to death. 0

"You nearly gave me a heart attack! I thought you were really going to kill her," Old Five said, wiping the sweat from his forehead as he stood up. He felt a wave of relief wash over him and smiled at Jun Ruo. 0

"Get up. I just wanted to confirm whether you really can't speak," Jun Ruo said. It turned out the girl was indeed mute. If she were pretending, few would remain silent during such a life-and-death moment. Seeing her merely close her eyes in fear led Jun Ruo to believe she was innocent, and he softened his demeanor toward her. He personally helped the girl to her feet, but she looked at him with fear and allowed him to lead her away, likely terrified of him. As soon as she stood, she quickly hid behind Old Five. 0

"Well, Old Five, it seems this girl is no longer afraid of you," someone remarked as they observed the scene, realizing that Jun Ruo had merely been testing the girl. The atmosphere lightened considerably. 0

Jun Ruo chuckled at the girl's fearful expression and waved his hand dismissively at Old Five. "Then this girl is in your care now. Take her down to rest." 0

"Ah," Old Five groaned in dismay. 0

"What do you mean 'ah'? Hurry up!" Jun Ruo pretended to scold him seriously. 0

Old Five could only resign himself to bringing the girl down, who timidly clutched his sleeve as she followed him. 0

"It seems that girl thinks Old Five is a good person," Yao Guang whispered to Xue. 0

Watching Old Five and the girl leave, Jun Ruo resumed her serious demeanor and took her seat at the head of the table. Some things were better left unseen by them. 0

"What’s going on now?" Jun Ruo's sudden change of expression left Yao Guang puzzled. 0

"You'll understand if you keep watching," Xue replied, already formulating a plan in her mind. This was when the real interrogation began. 0

What’s this? More cryptic hints, Yao Guang muttered to himself. 0

"Bring them over," Jun Ruo commanded, pointing at the group of captives from earlier. 0

The captives were quickly brought forward, and Jun Ruo's gaze fixed intently on them. 0

"Except for him, take everyone else away," Jun Ruo indicated a man among them. The moment he was singled out, a flicker of panic crossed his face. I wonder when you'll slip up. 0

"Now, be honest and tell me where your master is," Jun Ruo said as she reclined in her chair. 0

"My lord, I’m truly innocent! I don’t know anything!" The man immediately knelt down, desperately pleading with Jun Ruo. 0

"You’re putting on quite the act, but it’s a pity," she remarked as she descended from her seat. "Who is this girl? Why did you lock her in a box?" 0

"I..." 0

Before the person's words could escape, they felt a cold object pressing against their neck. 0

Jun Ruo held the dagger in her hand, gently sliding it across the person's throat. "You know, this dagger doesn't have eyes, so you better behave." 0

Jun Ruo's threat caused the person's expression to change dramatically. 0

"My lord, I really don't know..." 0

Jun Ruo's gaze turned icy as she swiftly slashed the person's face with her dagger. 0

"Ahhh!" The entire hall echoed with the person's screams. 0

"I don't have that much patience. You didn't really think I couldn't bring myself to do it, did you?" 0

Jun Ruo watched as blood flowed continuously from the person's face. 0

"I truly... I truly don't know." The pain from the previous cut was evident in the person's voice. 0

"Ahhh..." Another scream erupted as another slash marked the person's face. 0

"Whether you want to kill or torture me, it's all up to you. What you're doing now is nothing but a cowardly act," the person groaned in agony. 0

"I'm not a hero or anything like that. You need to think carefully about whether you want to cooperate or not." Holding the knife, Jun Ruo's fair skin contrasted sharply with the bright red blood before her, making Yao Guang realize for the first time how terrifying Jun Ruo could be. Perhaps it was precisely because Jun Ruo had means that she could become the Head of the Family here; otherwise, how could she command respect? 0

The man simply shut his mouth and said nothing more. 0

Jun Ruo pointed the tip of the knife toward the wound she had made earlier. "Fourth, Old Ten, come here and help me hold him down." 0

Yao Guang was still curious about why they were suddenly capturing this person, but in the next moment, he understood why. The pain was unbearable, and he feared the man would not withstand it. 0

Jun Ruo inserted the knife tip into the wound, slowly pushing it deeper, following the contours of the injury as she advanced. 0

The man writhed in agony, letting out a scream that was even more piercing than before. Yao Guang could even see the white bones beneath the flesh, a testament to how brutal Jun Ruo's methods were. It was easy to imagine how excruciating this punishment must be. 0

"Have you made up your mind now? Or not? Your half of a face depends on your answer," Jun Ruo paused her torture and looked at the man before her. 0

The man's face had contorted in pain; combined with his previous injuries, it was impossible to tell what he had originally looked like. 0

"Alright, I will," he finally begged for mercy, unable to endure the torment any longer. 0

"Should have done that sooner; why suffer so much? Someone, take care of his wounds," Jun Ruo ordered. She did not wish to kill him; although he deserved it, he could not die before she got what she wanted. 0

"Is it good now?" Jun Ruo asked. (To be continued.) 0
