“Shu, I think you should know that I am now the King of the Underworld,” Xue said after a moment of silence. 0

“I know.” It was precisely because of this that Xue was the best choice; he could be entrusted with Yao Guang without any reservations. In the impending great battle, Xue was the only one who could be relied upon without hesitation. With the protection of both the Western Buddha and the King of the Underworld, Xue would surely be able to safeguard Yao Guang during this conflict. 0

“That’s why I’m asking you.” Under the glow of the lights, Shu’s gaze was serious. 0

“Greedy Wolf Star Lord, even if you didn’t ask me, I had already promised you before.” Xue was puzzled as to why Shu kept repeating this; hadn’t he already agreed? 0

Shu looked at Xue before him, realizing that he might be worrying too much. There were some things he didn’t want Xue to know. The divine beings do not calculate their own fates; Shu could see that Xue was hiding something from him, just as he had secrets from Xue. Before descending to the mortal realm, Shu had visited the Destiny Keeper’s residence and seen images in the Revolving Mirror. 0

The Revolving Mirror, a mirror that reveals the future and knows the past, showed Shu the fall of Greedy Wolf Star and the dimming light of Big Dipper Seventh Star. He also witnessed the conflict between Xue and Yao Guang, even seeing Yao Guang commanding troops while standing opposite him was Xue. 0

The images in the Revolving Mirror abruptly stopped. No matter how Shu urged his spells, he could not see what happened next. He and the Destiny Keeper initially thought there was an error with the Revolving Mirror, but eventually realized that although it knew about history and geography, it could not display events beyond its reach. 0

Shu was horrified by what he had seen; those futures were ones he could not participate in. Therefore, he could not know those things. His heart was filled with an unknown terror regarding these futures. He did not know if what he saw would truly come to pass—what would happen between Xue and Yao Guang? For the first time, Shu felt lost; this confusion worried him more than knowing his own downfall. He was uncertain if he had seen Yao Guang shining brilliantly in the night only to fade into darkness. Even the Destiny Keeper could not predict how all gods, demons, and immortals would intertwine in their respective destinies during this impending war. 0

However, one thing he was certain of: even if he were no longer present, he must protect the Seven Stars of the Big Dipper well. The Big Dipper Seventh Star had existed since the beginning of time, enduring countless battles between gods and demons and weathering many changes in the Azure Sea. It must not perish in this struggle! It must not fall! 0

“No, I need you to promise me firmly that no matter what conflicts arise between you and Yao Guang in the future, you will protect Yao Guang well and stand by her side.” Shu knew his words would raise Xue’s suspicions, but now he could no longer afford to hesitate. He had no more time to slowly persuade Xue or let Yao Guang know what was happening. All he could do was rely on this man sitting across from him to assure him that he would stand by Yao Guang’s side and protect her well. If so, perhaps Xue would take Yao Guang into consideration and show leniency towards others from Big Dipper. 0

Indeed, Shu’s words alerted Xue to something unusual; it seemed Shu knew more than he let on. 0

“Greedy Wolf Star Lord, what else do you know?” Xue looked at Shu before him; under the flickering candlelight, it was hard for him to discern Shu’s expression. 0

Shu’s face was obscured by shadows in the light; he knew that his words would certainly make Xue wary. As expected, Xue began to question him now. However, Shu did not intend to reveal too much information to Xue; after all, opening up about what he learned from the Revolving Mirror regarding future events violated court regulations. 0

“Wheel King, you only need to tell me your answer, and there are other things you don't need to know. I won't tell you,” Shu affirmed. 0

“Shu, you know that if that's the case, I can't guarantee much for you,” Xue replied. He felt that by not revealing anything to him, Shu hoped to receive enough assurance from him. Xue believed he would never engage in a losing deal. Although he understood that even if Shu didn't cooperate, he would still do his best to protect Yao Guang, Shu's lack of cooperation made Xue feel untrusted. This only reinforced his decision not to share his plans with Shu, serving as a lesson for him to understand that some things are better not kept hidden. 0

Moreover, for some reason, looking at the tone of Shu's earlier words, it seemed that his brother-in-law also had many things he hadn't shared with Yao Guang. 0

“Xue, there are many things you will know in the future, but right now, there are things I cannot share with you,” Shu stated firmly. These matters could remain in his heart; he absolutely could not disclose them to Xue. 0

“Then it seems we have nothing more to discuss,” Xue said slowly, preparing to stand up and see Shu off. 0

“Xue.” Despite Xue's impolite attitude, Shu didn't express any dissatisfaction. He knew that Xue must feel some resentment towards his secrecy. However, the fact that Xue didn't embarrass him in front of others was already enough for him. Xue's current demeanor was already showing consideration for Yao Guang. 0

Shu called out Xue's name; unlike before when he directly addressed him by his title, he now simply used his name. 0

“What is it, my Greedy Wolf Star Lord? Do you have anything else to say?” Xue asked with a smile. 0

“Xue, there's no need for you to provoke me like this. What I can give is already given; what I cannot share with you remains unsaid. The only thing I can tell you is that I hope you will take good care of Yao Guang in the future,” Shu ignored Xue's sarcasm. He no longer cared about anything else; all he hoped for was that Xue would agree to his request and look after Yao Guang well. 0

“Since you are unwilling, then fine. I won't force you. But you should know that if it weren't for Yao Guang, I wouldn't have to do any of this. Yao Guang's matters are my own business, but your Big Dipper affairs aren't necessarily mine,” Xue said while observing Shu's darkening expression. He casually rested his hand behind his head and smiled at Shu. Although he had seemingly agreed to Shu's request, there were still many things he needed to make clear. 0

“I understand; naturally, the matters of Big Dipper are our concerns. All I ask is that even if you become enemies with Yao Guang in the future, you must still protect Yao Guang well and not use your powers against them,” Shu tightened his fists upon hearing Xue's words, realizing he had truly angered him. Otherwise, given Xue's usual character, he wouldn't have spoken like this. 0

“What do you mean by that? What do you mean I will be enemies with Yao Guang in the future?” Xue asked in confusion. He had once used magic to glimpse into the future regarding himself and Yao Guang, but all he could see was the onset of a great battle and the fall of Greedy Wolf Star from the sky. After that point, everything became a blur; no matter how many spells he cast or how hard he tried, he could see nothing beyond that moment. 0

However, hearing Shu's words just now made it seem like he knew something. “Shu, tell me what will happen between me and Yao Guang in the future,” Xue's tone turned serious. When it came to matters concerning Yao Guang, he was always attentive—especially in such a situation where he couldn't know what might happen between their futures. 0

“I can't tell you!” Shu looked apologetically at Xue. It seemed even with Xue's magic, he couldn't peer into what lay ahead; thus, it was even less likely for him to casually reveal anything about those future events to Xue. Doing so could lead to irreversible consequences—everything was predetermined in a way beyond their control. Even gods could not arbitrarily change these fated truths. Gods merely encountered these inevitable events earlier than mortals did; sadly, even when they foresaw such occurrences, they could not alter them but could only watch as everything progressed along its destined path helplessly. Perhaps this was the helplessness of divinity itself. 0

"Shu, even if you don't tell me, it's fine. I can only say that there will absolutely never be such a thing between me and Yao Guang." Xue didn't know how Shu knew that he would become an enemy of Yao Guang in the future, but he was certain that he would never become Yao Guang's enemy. No matter what happened in the future, he would always be by Yao Guang's side, guarding her and protecting her. 0

Shu looked at Xue, and the determination reflected in Xue's eyes moved him. He now understood that even if he really left, this man before him would surely be able to protect Yao Guang as he hoped. 0

"Just hearing you say that is enough; I can rest easy now," Shu said. 0

Having expressed everything he wanted to say tonight and received the answer he sought from Xue, Shu decided it was time to leave. 0

As he watched Shu prepare to depart, Xue raised his head and said to him, "Don't worry. Fate isn't always fixed; everything can take a different turn." After a moment's thought, he continued speaking to Shu. 0

"Fate cannot be solely determined!" Shu paused with his hand on the door. Hearing Xue's words stirred something in his heart for a moment, but then it faded away. After all these years and experiences, he hadn't expected that when it came to his own situation, he still couldn't let go of these matters. Wasn't it something he had long known—that fate is hard to defy? Yet now, what was he still hoping for? 0

"My fate is mine alone," Xue's deep voice resonated behind him. 0

"Let’s hope so!" Shu sighed. He knew that Xue's abilities far surpassed his own; perhaps there were many things that Xue could see more clearly than he could. However, some matters were not so simple. 0

As a deity, one is often like many mortals in this world—there are many things beyond their control, including himself, Yao Guang, and Xue. 0

Shu pushed open the door and gazed up at the bright moon above. The moon was still beautiful; no matter how much turmoil one experienced, it continued to shine brightly in the sky. (To be continued.) 0
