Although Shu had learned of his fate from the Destiny Keeper long ago, he never expected it to come so soon, especially in the wake of his complete failure.
For someone as proud as Shu, this outcome was far from ideal.
Just like the scene before him, Shu had never imagined that despite pouring all his strength into a single strike, he would inflict no damage on the Dragon Lord. This was a significant blow to him.
Looking at the arrogant Dragon Lord before him, Shu felt all his magical energy had been completely exhausted. Yet, the Dragon Lord seemed utterly unaffected by Shu's efforts.
"Big Brother!" Yao Guang called out worriedly from below.
The situation unfolding before them was something the other Big Dipper Star Lords had not anticipated. Even though they were aware of the vast gap in power between themselves and the Dragon Lord, they never expected it to manifest in such a way.
In the face of absolute power, the strength of the Big Dipper Seventh Star truly felt insignificant.
Yao Guang stared at the Dragon Lord with deep-seated fear. She had always believed that even if her own power was lacking, it would still be sufficient in this context. But now, standing before the Dragon Lord, she truly understood what absolute power meant. In comparison to him, she felt not only small but also invisible.
"Yao Guang, don't move!" Xuan grabbed Yao Guang's hand firmly.
Yao Guang had been ready to rush forward to help Shu.
"Why? Let go of me! I need to help Big Brother!" Yao Guang exclaimed, agitated.
But Xuan held onto Yao Guang's hand tightly.
No matter how hard Yao Guang struggled, she couldn't break free.
"Yao Guang, don’t panic! Let's wait and see. Perhaps Shu has his own plan!" Quan reassured Yao Guang.
How could he not be anxious? Now, Shu's magical power had been completely exhausted, yet he had not shaken the Dragon Lord even a little! On the contrary, the Dragon Lord seemed completely unaffected by Shu's efforts! And let’s not forget, the Dragon Lord hadn’t even made a move yet!
“Yao Guang, let’s wait and see. Shu probably doesn’t want us to help him right now!” Quan spoke up from the side.
In truth, he was also quite nervous; he had never seen Shu in such a desperate state. However, he understood that Shu likely did not wish for them to intervene.
Yao Guang looked up at the other Star Lords, who all nodded in agreement with Quan's words.
At this moment, Yao Guang could only suppress his unease and tension as he turned his gaze back toward Shu's direction.
Shu glanced over at where Yao Guang and the others were standing.
“What’s wrong? Is that all you’ve got?” The arrogant Dragon Lord raised his massive dragon head proudly, mocking Shu.
He had thought this child might possess some great abilities, but it turned out that with just a single blow, he was left without any means to fight back. What a waste of effort! Indeed, over the years, the talents in the court had become increasingly inferior. In the past, he could still exchange a few moves with the Jade Emperor. But now, those under him were simply lacking!
Thinking back to those few exchanges with the Jade Emperor stirred a wave of excitement within the Dragon Lord! If only he could soar into the sky now! Perhaps the Jade Emperor sitting in the Celestial Palace would have to take action against him.
With this thought in mind, the Dragon Lord was eager to quickly resolve his confrontation with Shu so that he could meet with the Jade Emperor!
All these years of dedicated cultivation were merely to find an equally matched opponent when he emerged from seclusion!
If it weren’t for this reason, how could he possibly choose to come out at such a sensitive time? When the Four Seas Dragon King came to summon him from seclusion, he understood that it was merely a trick by those four children to lure him out.
However, after so many years, it was time for him to stretch his limbs; otherwise, people would have long forgotten about this ancient divine beast!
Additionally, it was time to conclude his agreement with the Jade Emperor’s son.
The heart of the Dragon Lord was consumed by the impending battle with the Jade Emperor, and he had lost all interest in the figure before him.
For a member of the dragon race, if something no longer piqued their interest, it was best that it did not appear before them at all.
Thus, the Dragon Lord executed a Dragon Tail Sweep, his long and powerful tail sweeping toward Shu. Although Shu sensed it coming, his current speed could not match that of the Dragon Lord's tail, and he was sent flying to the side.
The Dragon Lord comfortably retracted his tail, only to inadvertently discover that Shu had not been knocked away but was instead clinging tightly to his tail.
Shu felt as though his insides had been rearranged from the impact of the Dragon Tail Sweep. Yet, at the last critical moment, he summoned all his strength to grasp the Dragon Lord's tail, preventing himself from plummeting from the clouds.
"Let go of my tail, or I will send you to your doom!" the Dragon Lord declared without hesitation. The tails of dragons were not to be touched by nameless beings, especially that of the Dragon Emperor.
At this moment, Shu had no strength left to speak. Blood poured from his mouth as he clung to the Dragon Lord's tail with sheer willpower; this was his final chance!
"Elder Brother!" Yao Guang, Kaiyang, and several other Star Lords shouted in panic upon seeing Shu's condition.
If it weren't for biting down hard on her lip, Yao Guang feared she would rush forward without a second thought.
The blood spilling from Shu's mouth stung Yao Guang's eyes. She had never seen her elder brother in such a desperate state.
Just a single tail from the Dragon Lord had caught Shu off guard. The sheer power made Yao Guang feel a wave of despair wash over her.
Could they truly defeat the dragon race? Faced with this Dragon Lord, Yao Guang deeply questioned her once unshakeable belief.
It was time! This was his last opportunity! As blood dripped from his mouth while he clung to the Dragon Lord's tail, Shu made up his mind.
He cast a deep glance at Yao Guang and Kaiyang, who stood together as part of the Big Dipper Seventh Star; they had always been family. They were his siblings whom he would protect at all costs!
"No!" Xuan exclaimed as she looked at Shu.
Yao Guang quickly glanced over, only to see Shu giving them a deep look before closing his eyes!
What was Shu doing with that glance? An uneasy thought crept into Yao Guang's mind.
No! No! Yao Guang silently chanted in her heart.
She might have already realized what Shu intended to do!
Suddenly, the light emanating from Shu intensified, even more dazzling than the Dragon Lord's golden form!
The immense radiance illuminated the entire surface of the sea. Shu's body radiated light from within, enveloping him completely in a brilliant glow.
"What?" The Dragon Lord was taken aback by the brilliance surrounding Shu, feeling pain in his eyes from the intensity of the light.
What was happening? How could this person suddenly emit such a powerful glow that it blinded him?
The Dragon Lord was filled with astonishment; he couldn't comprehend how someone he had just defeated could suddenly display such fighting spirit!
Whatever it was! The Dragon Lord looked at Shu and felt a flicker of curiosity. Indeed! After years of seclusion, this was the first opponent he encountered upon emerging, and they had not disappointed him.
It seemed he had underestimated this Star Lord before him; he found himself eager to see what other surprises Shu might bring!
The Dragon Lord circled in the air, observing Shu's current state.
In that radiant light, Shu's body became increasingly transparent. His expression was not one of pain but rather one of liberation and understanding.
"Don't!" Yao Guang exclaimed as she saw Shu's current state, and she immediately understood what he was doing!
This was exactly what she had been worried about—Shu was burning his own Starlight!
Shu's entire body transformed into a massive golden flame, enveloping himself completely within it. In this golden fire, he felt immense pain. Shu Xing Jun knew that this pain was the result of burning his own Starlight, but he did not regret his decision.
In the current situation, only by burning his own Starlight could he hope to confront the enormous Dragon Lord before him.
Within the golden flames, Shu could clearly hear Yao Guang's heart-wrenching cries, "Big brother, no! Please, don't! Big brother!"
His senses gradually dulled; slowly, he could no longer see Yao Guang or hear her voice calling out to him. He felt himself merging with the flames, and although it was painful, Shu understood that once this was over, he would have the chance to defeat the Dragon Lord standing in front of him.
The Dragon Lord watched Shu's transformation; his initially relaxed expression slowly turned serious.
If he wasn't mistaken, this opponent he had previously dismissed seemed not to be destroying himself but rather burning his own Starlight!
Suddenly, he recalled that this celestial being before him was not an ordinary deity but the Chief Greedy Wolf Star Lord among the Big Dipper's Seventh Star!
The Dragon Lord remembered an ancient legend: when the Big Dipper's Seventh Star obeyed fate, the Seven Stars would fall and return to one.
This saying had never been verified, so its truth remained unknown. However, it seemed that this Shu Xing Jun was indeed burning his own Starlight. If he burned out his Starlight, then it would lead to his fall! (To be continued.)
