Carmillon had arrived, sneaking into Huaxia all by himself.
"Uh..." Looking at the blonde-haired, blue-eyed foreigner with a prominent nose outside the door, Li Hong was momentarily at a loss for how to greet him.
Should he say hello or hi?
"Oh, dear Boss, I speak Chinese!" The truck driver replied fluently in Chinese.
"Oh, okay, come in then." Li Hong couldn't help but chuckle; who would have thought this guy spoke Chinese?
With a curious expression, Carmillon stepped into the rental apartment. Li Hong poured him a glass of water.
"Thank you!"
Old Car took the cup and his eyes roamed around Li Hong's room.
"Do gods really live in places like this?" Carmillon muttered.
He understood why a Supreme God from the East had sought him out to serve in a Divine Abode under another Supreme God.
However, Carmillon knew this was a great opportunity. A Supreme God from a divine faction and the chance to work in their Divine Abode—this was indeed a significant opportunity for him.
Using online slang, he thought to himself that he needed to hold onto this big leg tightly.
"Uh, it's quite simple here, so please don't mind!" Seeing Carmillon looking around, Li Hong assumed he was dissatisfied with the rental apartment.
After all, he was an international director; perhaps he had never been to such a place before?
Li Hong had already learned from 404 that Carmillon was coming, so he wasn't too surprised.
Although he found the choice of the Supreme God a bit strange, he had experienced so many oddities that he was used to it by now.
"You know why you're here, right?" Li Hong asked tentatively.
Carmillon nodded and smiled, "The great Supreme God has informed me. I will serve you."
"Alright, looks like you're just a temporary worker."
Carmillon seemed to have been misled by the Supreme God, Shiny Bald Head, into taking on this role without even considering the pay.
However, Li Hong couldn't be bothered to remind him; after all, he was an international director and probably didn't need the money. Going to the Supreme God's world would be a good opportunity for some new experiences.
"Then wait for me a moment; I need to write something first," Li Hong instructed before returning to his computer.
This time he was physically crossing over, and he didn't know how long it would take, so it was best to get some writing done in advance.
"Writing? What is that?" Carmillon asked, confused. Was this when the god would start casting divine spells?
"It's not an object; it's a kind of work. Well, it's like writing online," Li Hong explained. After all, it was understandable that someone from abroad wouldn't grasp the essence of online literature.
"Oh, so it's like writing sacred words. It truly is work from the Divine Abode," Carmillon said in surprise.
Are gods now writing scriptures online?
"Can I take a look?" Carmillon asked, his curiosity piqued about the mysterious Divine Abode and the scriptures it contained.
Li Hong rolled his eyes, pulled out his phone, and brought up the first chapter of Breaking Through the Sky, handing it to Carmillon.
"Just swipe with your finger to read."
Then he ignored the curious truck driver. Clearly, subscribing was more important than entertaining Old Car. He wasn't in the entertainment industry, so there was no need to please Old Car.
As for becoming a star? Li Hong had no such plans.
Carmillon took the phone, and with his fluent command of Chinese, he immediately saw the four large characters on the screen.
Breaking Through the Sky!
"What a great name!" Carmillon's eyes lit up. Was this the scripture written by Divine Abode?
It looked impressive!
"Chapter One: Fallen Street Performer!"
"…"
Time passed without him noticing. When Li Hong saved the tenth chapter he had just typed and was about to invite Carmillon to dinner, a message suddenly popped up from the QQ icon on his desktop.
"Carmillon's trip to Huaxia suspected of abduction; assistant claims he has been missing for three hours."
“Internationally Renowned Director emotionally frustrated, retreats from the world.”
“A famous model cries publicly, regretting rejecting Carmillon's confession.”
Li Hong turned around and looked at the old man on the sofa, who was intently focused on his phone, momentarily stunned.
Is this guy really Carmillon?
Indeed, Li Hong had always been skeptical. He thought this guy was just a foreigner with the same name as some director. Perhaps he was an alien that 404 had somehow found; it was hard to tell if he was even human.
But now, a guy named Carmillon had come to his home, while the real Carmillon had gone missing.
Li Hong opened the chat window with 404 and asked, “Boss, that Carmillon can’t really be the real Carmillon, right?”
“Who else could it be? Didn’t I tell you?” 404 replied quickly.
“But I still find it hard to believe. That’s Old Car, after all. You didn’t find some parallel universe stand-in, did you?”
“Believe it or not, just so you know, our Main God Technology Co., Ltd. is quite powerful; one Carmillon is nothing. Now hurry up and take him to carry out the mission.”
With that, 404's River Crab avatar turned gray.
Li Hong stood there in a daze. Damn it, bringing Old Car here is one thing, but why did it have to be a kidnapping?
Just thinking about the missing Old Car being in his rented room made him anxious; if discovered, he would surely be sentenced to a life without a wife.
Li Hong hurried to Carmillon's side and asked, "Old Car, were you kidnapped?"
"Kidnapped?" Old Car looked confused, clearly unaware of what Li Hong was talking about.
So, Li Hong took him to see the reports on the computer.
"Oh, Shet, they are just sensationalizing this!" Carmillon cursed angrily and then began dialing his assistant's number.
As soon as the call connected, Carmillon shouted furiously, "Didn't I tell you not to pull these stunts? Get it sorted out right now. I just went to meet an old friend I haven't seen in years; tell them not to misunderstand."
After hanging up the phone, Carmillon was still seething with anger and smashed his phone down onto the floor.
Li Hong: …
Carmillon came back to his senses and looked at the shattered remains of his phone on the ground before glancing at Li Hong.
The two exchanged silent glances; Carmillon's face turned slightly red while Li Hong remained expressionless.
"I'm sorry, I just have a habit of doing that. You know my temper can be a bit short..." Carmillon tried to explain his behavior.
Li Hong raised his right hand, palm up, revealing nothing.
"Oh, you forgive me? That's great!" Carmillon quickly grasped Li Hong's outstretched hand and smiled.
Li Hong rolled his eyes dramatically, shook off Carmillon's hand, and said irritably, "Who shook hands with you? I'm asking you to pay for that, Soulmate!"
"I'm sorry? I... I don't have any money on me," Carmillon said awkwardly.
Li Hong could hardly believe his ears. What did Carmillon mean? He had no money? Wasn't he supposed to be able to use a card if he didn't have cash? Couldn't he just call his assistant if his card was empty?
Carmillon rubbed his hands together, looking embarrassed. "I originally had some dollars on me, but the Supreme Deity said you don't need to bring money here, so..."
"What did that Shiny Bald Head pay for?" Li Hong gritted his teeth in anger.
What did he mean by not needing to bring money? What kind of place did he think this was?
"He will take care of everything for me and will give me a very generous reward," Carmillon said, growing more cheerful as he spoke.
Li Hong was already in shock.
A reward? Taking care of everything?
