No matter how Li Hong explained, Sun Wukong still did not believe him at all.
This led to a strange atmosphere as the group set off again, with Sun Wukong and Peng casting odd glances at Li Hong.
Even the rescued Golden Cicada looked at Li Hong with that same strange gaze, as if thinking, "I didn't expect this guy to be so deep in hiding!"
"Empress, let's go," Sun Wukong said as he untied the ropes binding Golden Cicada.
Golden Cicada shook his head, looking sadly at the bodies of the Yellow Wind Monster and the others. In a tone filled with pity, he said, "Monkey, we should bury them. As the saying goes, death is a great matter; they should rest in peace."
Sun Wukong glanced at the mangled remains of the Yellow Wind Monster and rolled his eyes. "Empress, are you out of your mind? At this point, how can we bury them?"
Peng poked the corpse of the Yellow Wind Monster with his hand and curiously asked, "What did it turn into?"
"A dead rat, what else could it be?" Li Hong replied knowingly.
He remembered that the Yellow Wind Monster was originally a yellow-haired marten from the foot of Spirit Mountain. It had run to Yellow Wind Ridge to become a monster after stealing oil from a glazed lamp and fearing capture by the Vajra.
"A dead rat? That's great! I'm hungry; let's eat it!" Peng suggested.
Li Hong broke out in a cold sweat and stammered, "What the hell? You guys are really going to eat this?"
"What's there to be afraid of? It's just a rat; it's not anything else," Peng said nonchalantly.
Golden Cicada was about to intervene but noticed that Sun Wukong had already picked up some pieces of flesh from the Yellow Wind Monster.
Sun Wukong grabbed a nearby stick and skewered the meat onto it. Soon enough, he and Peng began roasting it right there.
"You all are too brutal, aren't you? No matter what, he is still a demon king. How can you eat him?" Golden Cicada said helplessly.
It was unknown which glutton had used the Three Flames True Fire to roast meat. Before long, the shredded meat of the Yellow Wind Monster had turned into a pile of delicious roasted meat.
"Here, Empress, would you like a piece?" Sun Wukong offered a piece of roasted meat to Golden Cicada.
"Forget it, forget it, I won't eat," Golden Cicada quickly shook his head, refusing Sun Wukong's kindness.
Li Hong watched from the side, his eyes filled with envy. Originally not very interested in rat meat, he suddenly felt an uncontrollable craving.
At that moment, he interjected, "Monkey King, can you give me a piece? I want to try it too."
As for his previous disdain, it had long been thrown out of his mind.
"Here you go, take your time eating. Don't rush; we have plenty here," Sun Wukong said while eating.
"This dead rat is surprisingly plump and juicy; the meat is tender and quite good," Peng praised.
...
After eating and drinking their fill, everyone continued on their journey westward to visit relatives.
As they traveled along the way, it was unclear if something unexpected had happened; in any case, everything was calm and uneventful.
This left Li Hong feeling quite gloomy. Without any demons causing trouble, how was he supposed to deal with Sun Wukong?
"Have you finished it yet? I feel like if this goes on, I might just die trying to deal with Immortal Sun Wukong," Li Hong asked the figure above him, 404.
404 rolled its eyes and replied helplessly, "Just give me a little more time; I haven't fixed it yet."
"Alright then, just be quick about it. I don't have much confidence," Li Hong said anxiously.
He knew he was no match for Sun Wukong and could only ensure his own survival.
To complete the mission, he needed to rely on others' strength. However, Li Hong awkwardly realized that on this Damn it journey to the West, everything was calm, and they hadn't encountered anything at all.
Until he saw the Golden Cicada on horseback being blown away by the fierce wind once again.
Li Hong: "…"
At this point, they should definitely ban the Wind Maiden!
This was too much; every single time, the Wind Maiden seemed addicted to stealing their home base!
Before Li Hong could react, Sun Wukong snapped back to reality and shouted angrily, "Who’s the idiot who doesn’t give Old Sun any face?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Sun Wukong pulled out a few of his monkey hairs and transformed into the Golden Cicada.
But before he could do anything further, the wind suddenly intensified, and both the real Golden Cicada and the one transformed by Sun Wukong were swept away, disappearing without a trace.
Seeing this, Sun Wukong kicked off the ground and vanished from sight in an instant. It seemed he had gone to track down that mysterious hurricane.
Li Hong greeted Peng and Sha Wujing, the two idlers, before following suit.
“Monkey King, wait for me!”
…
Inside a cave, the Yellow Robe Monster stared blankly at the seven Golden Cicadas before him, turning to the Flower Princess beside him and tremblingly asking, “Princess, why are there seven Golden Cicadas?”
“I don’t know either,” the Flower Princess replied.
The Yellow Robe Monster furrowed his brows in confusion. “This Supreme Elder’s Golden Cicada is the second daughter of Buddha, with tender skin and flesh that can grant immortality when consumed. I thought you were still a mortal, so I planned to capture one Golden Cicada for you to eat. I didn’t expect there to be seven!”
“Could it be…”
The Flower Princess suddenly considered a horrifying possibility.
The Yellow Robe Monster’s eyes lit up as he pressed on, “Princess, do you know why there are seven Golden Cicadas?”
“I might have an idea…” the Flower Princess said weakly.
“Hurry!”
After a moment of thought, the Flower Princess finally spoke up, “Well, could it be that eating seven Golden Cicadas is one complete treatment?”
“…” The Yellow Robe Monster fell silent.
Although it was uncertain whether it was true, the Yellow Robe Monster accepted the Flower Princess's method.
Otherwise, how could one explain the seven Golden Cicadas before them?
This wasn't a scene from a children's show!
"Do I need to eat seven Golden Cicadas for one treatment?"
The Yellow Robe Monster pondered and asked, "How many treatments do I need to eat to achieve immortality?"
"Why don't you ask Supreme?" urged the Flower Princess.
The Yellow Robe Monster nodded and used a communication spell to contact Supreme.
"Hey, old man, how many treatments of Golden Cicadas do I need to eat to become immortal?" the Yellow Robe Monster inquired.
On the other end, Supreme was somewhat puzzled.
Golden Cicada was just Golden Cicada; what did it mean to have multiple treatments? Wasn't that just nonsense?
"Are you stupid? Have you taken too many tonics? What do you mean by multiple treatments? Can't you just eat it and be done with it?"
"What? Just eat it and that's it?" The Yellow Robe Monster felt a bit embarrassed, realizing they might have overthought the situation.
"Alright, alright, do you have anything else? If not, I'm hanging up. I'm busy with Alchemy over here."
"Don't hang up, don't blame me!"
The Yellow Robe Monster quickly stopped Supreme and asked, "So what about the Golden Cicada? I've never eaten it either; you should tell me how to prepare it!"
"What do you mean by how to prepare it?"
"Do you add salt? Should it be boiled or braised? Or is it better to eat it raw?" the Yellow Robe Monster inquired.
Supreme: "..."
Damn it, I've never eaten a Golden Cicada either! How would I know how to eat one?
I can't just eat it without preparing it first, right? That would be so unsanitary!
