Suppressing the evil thoughts deep within, Li Hong found Charlie, who was busy on the phone.
“How's the box office for 'I Am Red Riding Hood, I Love the Big Bad Wolf'?”
Charlie hung up and smiled broadly. “As of yesterday, the total box office is nearly five hundred million. By the time it finishes its run, we expect it to reach around five point five billion.”
“What the hell, doesn’t that mean I’ll become a billionaire from now on?” Li Hong asked in surprise.
This was several hundred million! Suddenly, he felt like making money was so easy.
Charlie pulled out a document and explained to Li Hong, “Boss, you’re getting ahead of yourself. After we split it, we’ll only see a little over a hundred million. After taxes, we’ll be lucky to keep around a hundred million.”
Li Hong's eyes sparkled with symbols of Soft Sister Coins as he exclaimed that he had struck it rich.
This was an overnight fortune!
After a while, Li Hong calmed down and asked Charlie, “What about Mark and the others? When is the Goddess Alliance expected to launch?”
Charlie shrugged and said with a wry smile, “Boss, I’m just an assistant, not the general manager. You should probably check with your general manager about that.”
“Alright then, from now on, you’re the general manager.” Li Hong was quite casual about the position. After all, Charlie was truly suited for it; what he did was essentially what a general manager would do.
Charlie rubbed his forehead and said helplessly, “Fine, fine. I’ll take it. Mark and the others are working overtime to finish up. If all goes well, it should be done by the end of this month.”
Then, as if remembering something, Charlie gave Li Hong a teasing smile.
“Boss, there’s one unfortunate piece of news I need to tell you!”
Li Hong smiled but revealed a hint of fatigue.
“That is, your illegitimate daughter has shown up…”
“What the hell! Are you kidding me? A virgin like me has an illegitimate daughter? You must be joking!” Li Hong exploded in disbelief.
How could this be possible? He had never interacted with any female beings throughout his life. Even if he encountered someone who looked female, they were most likely just cross-dressers.
Growing up in such a harsh environment, how could Li Hong be the kind of man who doesn't love himself?
This illegitimate daughter was simply absurd!
Charlie pouted, already mentally prepared for Li Hong's reaction.
"I came to find you earlier, but you weren't here. So, Lu Mao took the girl out to see the goldfish. They should be back soon. Hopefully, this is just a joke; otherwise, Boss, you are about to become the first big shot in history to have a child out of wedlock."
The thought of what Charlie described made Li Hong feel anxious. A child out of wedlock? Would it make the headlines?
Just then, a sound like wind chimes echoed from outside the door.
As Li Hong was sweating profusely and at a loss for what to do, Lu Mao entered, leading a Gothic-styled Loli who bounced in cheerfully.
Upon entering, Lu Mao immediately spotted the sweaty Li Hong and the disheveled Charlie, and awkwardly said, "Uh, Boss, did I interrupt something?"
Before Li Hong could respond, the bubbly Loli stared wide-eyed at Lu Mao and exclaimed, "Uncle, are these my mommy and daddy?"
"Um, that's my Boss, your so-called daddy..." Lu Mao stumbled over his words, momentarily caught off guard.
The Loli's face lit up with joy as she quickly released Lu Mao's hand and rushed to hug Li Hong's trembling leg. In a sweet voice, she said, "Daddy, please don't leave me!"
Encountering such an adorable Loli for the first time nearly melted Li Hong's heart into a puddle.
Still feeling a hint of confusion, he picked up the girl and curiously asked, "Who are you? Why do you call me Daddy?"
The girl looked to be around four or five years old. Li Hong was certain that when he was fourteen or fifteen, he had never strayed from his path. This meant that she couldn't possibly be his daughter.
So the question arose: why was this Loli looking for him and pretending to be his daughter?
Perhaps it was her first time being held by Li Hong; she seemed shy and buried her head in his embrace without saying a word.
Considering that her shyness was not as thick-skinned as his own, Li Hong shot Charlie and Lu Mao a look that clearly said to get lost.
Charlie and Lu Mao left the place, and on the way out, Charlie mischievously closed the door behind him.
Bang!
The sound of the door slamming startled Loli. She looked up, her face blank as she said, "Dad, although I don't mind, but... I'm your daughter? Is it really okay to have such a weird father..."
"Enough of that. Where did this little fairy come from? Trying to steal my vitality?"
Once the two had left, Li Hong set Loli down and took a seat at Charlie's previous spot. He asked in a serious tone, "So, what's your name? Where are you from? What do you want with me? Also... what are you wearing, and how old are you?"
Loli pouted and remained silent.
Seeing her expression, Li Hong realized he wouldn't be able to get much information out of her.
Fortunately, Charlie's computer was connected to the company's surveillance system and the Baisheng Building's cameras.
Li Hong began searching through the surveillance videos for any clues about Loli.
Soon, one video caught his attention.
It was footage from the entrance of the building where Loli stood in front of the elevator, looking lost.
Then, on the television next to the elevator, a promotional video for Sweet Potato Films started playing. Li Hong appeared on screen saying, "We don't lack money; we just lack talent. If you have what it takes, come try your luck with Sweet Potato..."
After watching the advertisement with determination in her eyes, Loli stepped into the elevator.
When she appeared again, she was at the entrance of Sweet Potato Films on the twelfth floor.
Seeing this, Li Hong had a slight understanding in his heart.
The girl was indeed not his daughter; in fact, this whole act might have been concocted by Loli herself.
As for why Loli would go to such lengths, Li Hong still hadn't found an answer.
Loli leaned closer to the screen, replaying the video on the monitor.
Li Hong lit a cigarette, his eyes filled with melancholy as he asked, "Why did you come to find me? And who exactly are you?"
Seeing the clear video on the computer, Loli immediately drooped her head, looking dispirited.
Hearing Li Hong's question, Loli reluctantly admitted, "I'm not really your daughter; I just made that up to deceive you. But it wasn't intentional. If I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have been able to meet you..."
"What?"
"Meet me? Why would you want to meet me?"
Li Hong replied warily, "I warn you, don't get any inappropriate ideas. I'm a serious person."
