"What?"
Zhao Xin frowned. "A 60% success rate? That's too low. Is there no safer way?"
"This is the safest method I could come up with! Of course, if you have a better idea, I won't persuade you otherwise," Li Hong explained, shaking his head.
The Virus Solution, while a good thing that could cause genetic changes in organisms, would turn them into mindless Zombies if it failed.
Regardless of Zhao Xin's agreement or disagreement, Li Hong had no further comments. After all, if it were him, he wouldn't choose such a reckless approach either.
"Boss Xin, I think we should consider this more carefully," Glen advised from the side.
Zhao Xin lowered his head to pet the Husky, his eyes filled with indecision.
Li Hong did not rush Zhao Xin and quietly waited for him to make a decision.
Inside the small tent, the few of them exchanged silent glances, enveloped in silence.
"What is that thing you have? Do you have any confidence in it?" Glen poked Li Hong and asked.
Li Hong took out the prepared Virus Solution from his spatial ring and handed it to Zhao Xin. Then he explained, "This thing has a high chance of turning an infected organism into an Extraordinary Life! Of course, there's also a significant chance it will become a living Zombie with only basic consciousness."
"Is this the Gene Optimization Solution? Or something else?" Zhao Xin swayed the Test Tube thoughtfully and asked.
"It's a virus!"
"Ah?"
Upon hearing this, Zhao Xin nearly dropped the Test Tube he was holding. Fortunately, he reacted in time; otherwise, everyone in the tent would face the fate of becoming Zombies.
"This is a virus? Are you crazy? You actually want to use a virus?" Glen glared at Li Hong, seemingly waiting for a perfect explanation.
Li Hong shrugged nonchalantly and said, "I've told you about the risks and rewards. As for whether it's a virus or not, what difference does it make?"
He then explained the composition and principles of the virus to the two of them, giving Glen and Zhao Xin, who had little knowledge, a basic understanding of it.
“No, I disagree! This virus is too dangerous,” Glen said, shaking his head firmly.
The virus's powerful transmission and infection capabilities completely shocked Glen. He couldn't imagine the consequences if something went wrong along the way.
If there was an error, the entire Earth would be infected with this terrifying virus. At that point, there would be no need for Oni and the others to intervene; the Earth would be doomed.
“I agree with Glen; I also refuse to attempt something so dangerous,” Zhao Xin said, shaking his head as he declined Li Hong's good intentions.
However, just as Zhao Xin was handing the Test Tube to Li Hong, a bright red tongue suddenly shot out and snatched the Test Tube from his hand.
Before Zhao Xin could react, a loud crash echoed throughout the tent as the Test Tube shattered!
Zhao Xin's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at the Husky that had taken the Test Tube. It wasn't until he saw the residue of the solution around the Husky's mouth that his heart sank.
“Brother Xin, what’s going on?” Glen asked in shock.
Even Li Hong was astonished. He never expected that this dog could be so perceptive. He certainly didn't anticipate it would snatch the Virus Solution from Zhao Xin when he wasn't paying attention and swallow it decisively!
Zhao Xin's eyes reddened as he trembled while holding the Husky in his arms and asked Li Hong, “You have to think of something! This virus was brought by you, right? You must have a way to deal with it!”
“Brother Xin, don’t panic. It already ingested it, right? There’s still a sixty percent chance of success!” Glen said, pressing down on Zhao Xin's excited shoulders to comfort him.
Li Hong nodded from beneath the bed and said softly, “Don’t worry just yet; it will take some time for the virus to take effect. Regardless, there’s still a sixty percent chance of success; it's not hopeless.”
With their reassurance, Zhao Xin calmed down instantly. However, his slightly trembling body still revealed his unusually agitated emotions.
After swallowing the Virus Solution, the Husky remained stiff in Zhao Xin's embrace, motionless.
If it weren't for its faint breathing that assured Zhao Xin it was still alive, he might have already collapsed under the weight of despair.
But even so, the dog's condition was not very good.
Its body was as stiff as iron, and its fur stood up unnaturally. A pair of dog eyes had a slight white sheen, and the area around the eye sockets was filled with a bloody crimson hue.
Before long, the Husky suddenly sprang up. It leaped from Zhao Xin's arms to the ground. Everyone turned their gaze toward it, only to see that the Husky looked terrifying, as if possessed by a ghost. Dark, indistinct gas surrounded its body, and its eyes were hollow and vacant, like a walking corpse, frozen in place.
Just as Zhao Xin couldn't help but move forward to check on it, the Husky finally moved!
Its originally short paws suddenly shot up several dozen centimeters. The paw swiped in front of Zhao Xin, and the table meant for holding water cups instantly shattered into several pieces.
"Oh my goodness, is this a success or a failure?" Glen asked incredulously.
Zhao Xin also cast a puzzled glance at Li Hong, who was hiding under the bed.
Li Hong scratched his head and pretended to be silent while asking the Flame Empress about this outcome.
"It is indeed a success! However, its original body is too weak to bear such immense power. Therefore, its current state is still unstable and there is a possibility of losing control!"
After Li Hong repeated the Flame Empress's words, everyone fell silent for a moment.
Zhao Xin paused and then asked in confusion, "What do you mean by losing control? Didn't you say that it would retain consciousness after success? Why is there still a possibility of losing control?"
Regarding this possibility of losing control, the Flame Empress had already explained it to Li Hong. So, Li Hong was relatively clear about it.
He shook his head and explained to Zhao Xin, "This loss of control doesn't mean it has lost consciousness; rather, it means it cannot control the immense power within its body."
"Stop just talking nonsense! What should we do?" Glen asked anxiously from the side.
"Uh..."
Li Hong looked at Zhao Xin teasingly: "It's simple! Just let Master Xin use a loving hug to calm down this rampaging Husky."
"Are you serious?" Zhao Xin's lips twitched.
Li Hong smiled and nodded, then looked at Zhao Xin with a half-smile, "What else?"
Before Zhao Xin could react, the Husky standing on the ground suddenly sprang into action. Its paws swiped through the air, and a large hole was torn in the tent. Before anyone could comprehend what had happened, the Husky leaped and vanished from inside the tent.
The group exchanged glances, with Zhao Xin and Glen looking at Li Hong in confusion.
"What the hell, why are you looking at me? Hurry up and chase it!" Li Hong urged.
A flash of anxiety crossed Zhao Xin's eyes. Without needing further prompting from Li Hong, he unleashed his incredible speed.
In an instant, Zhao Xin shot forward like a streak of light, tearing through the air in pursuit.
"Is it really okay? I can't shake the feeling that your dog running off is going to cause a huge mess," Glen asked with concern.
