Infinite Strongest G
“Yuchen, is there anything else you want to eat besides chicken legs?” Li Hong asked, holding a chicken leg in her left hand and cradling Yuchen with her right.
“Hmm, I also want fish, carrots, and tofu…” Yuchen counted off on her fingers.
Hearing Yuchen list her desired foods gave Li Hong a bit of a headache.
These ingredients weren't inedible, but the real challenge lay in preparing them into dishes.
Li Hong planned to pan-fry the chicken leg until it was cooked through, sprinkling it with scallions and seasoning. But what about the fish, carrots, and tofu? How was she supposed to cook those?
After some thought, Li Hong helplessly realized that Yuchen's choices were testing her culinary skills.
However, despite the trouble, Li Hong didn’t dismiss Yuchen’s suggestions. She felt that in addition to these dishes, it would be best to buy some other side ingredients. Otherwise, with just these items, the meal would surely lack nutrition.
Yuchen was too focused on her cravings; as an adult, Li Hong could indulge her but still needed to ensure she got the necessary nutrients.
Mapo Tofu, Sour Fish Soup, Chicken Legs, Stir-Fried Shredded Carrots with Meat.
After mentally noting these dishes, Li Hong suddenly realized that there wasn’t a single green vegetable among them.
This wouldn’t do; without any greens on the table, what would they eat? No matter what, there had to be something green included.
Approaching a stall, Li Hong set Yuchen down on a box and began selecting the ingredients she wanted.
“Boss, weigh out a pound of carrots,” Li Hong said casually without asking for the price.
“Sure thing!” The boss was a middle-aged man nearing forty. Upon receiving Li Hong's request, he quickly packed several large, red carrots into a bag.
As a newly minted Rich Gamer, Li Hong naturally turned a blind eye to any shortchanging.
It’s not easy for anyone to make a living, and there’s no need to nitpick over trivial matters.
After packing the carrots, Li Hong pulled down a plastic bag from the right side of the stall and skillfully filled it with vegetables.
Once the bag was full of greens, he handed it to the Boss to weigh.
"One pound and eight ounces; I’ll charge you five yuan. The carrots are one pound and two ounces, totaling twelve yuan," the Boss stated the prices with practiced ease.
Li Hong wasn’t surprised. These people were probably among the best mental calculators in all of Huaxia, representing those who could calculate under a hundred. They performed such calculations almost constantly, allowing them to quickly announce prices.
Taking out a twenty-yuan bill from his inner pocket, Li Hong handed it to the Boss.
After receiving his change, Li Hong picked up Yuchen again and continued to stroll around with the vegetables in hand.
With the greens and carrots already purchased, all that was left was to buy fish, meat, and tofu.
Skipping past the vegetable section, Li Hong led Yuchen toward the seafood area, where the fishy smell was strongest.
Along the way, water from the tanks covered the ground, and fish scales and spines were scattered everywhere.
Since he rarely visited such places, as soon as they entered the seafood area, the strong odor made Yuchen cover his nose.
Li Hong chuckled and said, "Yuchen, fish smells really bad; how about we skip it?"
If Yuchen hadn’t expressed a desire to eat fish, he wouldn’t have come here at all. Fish bones were always a threat for children; even if he wanted some himself, considering Yuchen’s feelings would prevent him from buying any.
However, since it was Yuchen who insisted on wanting fish, Li Hong had no choice but to ask if there were any types of fish with fewer bones available.
The taste didn’t matter; what was important was that there had to be fewer bones. If possible, Li Hong would prefer that the fish tasted terrible so that after trying it once, Yuchen wouldn’t bring up wanting fish again.
Approaching an Old Wang's Seafood stall, Li Hong glanced around at the boxes of seafood before asking the shop owner, Boss, who was busy gutting fish, "Boss, do you have any fish with fewer bones? I'm buying for my child."
Boss put down his knife and stepped out, smiling at Li Hong, who was holding Yuchen. "Sure! Bass, Yellow Croaker, Osmanthus Fish, and Sweetfish—all of these have very few bones. They're perfect for kids."
"Then I'll take those. What do you recommend for a child? This is my first time buying fish for them," Li Hong humbly inquired.
It's always good to learn more about such things. After all, he wasn't alone anymore; he was living with Yuchen now. He needed to ensure everything in their lives was done well.
"Haha, it's easy to choose. As long as it's a sea fish, there aren't many bones. For kids, I suggest Cod or Salmon; they have high nutritional value and are low in bones—ideal for children at home."
Boss said with a broad smile, "Brother, I can see you're new to this parenting thing. You know, when cooking fish for kids, it's best to use only the meat from the back."
"Oh? Is there a reason for that?" Li Hong was intrigued by Boss's advice about using only the back meat.
"There's no special reason; it's just that most fish nowadays are farmed. The belly might have slight hormone residues," Boss explained candidly.
"Boss, aren't you worried I'll just walk away after hearing that?" Li Hong chuckled; it had been a while since he met someone as straightforward as Boss.
Boss shook his head and replied, "Hey, you're with a child. If something happens while eating the fish, I'd feel bad too. So I’m just sharing what I know about the precautions. Whether you buy or not is up to you."
"Honestly, when it comes to selling fish for kids, I’m not too keen on it. If a child chokes on a bone or something like that, it wouldn't sit well with me either."
With such honesty from Boss, Li Hong couldn't be upset. He smiled and said, "Alright then, Boss, please prepare two Cod and one Osmanthus Fish for me."
"Got it! Just remember to give your child only the meat from the back," Boss said as he scooped up two fish and began to prepare them.
Li Hong nodded in agreement; he had already committed that advice to memory and would remember it without needing further reminders from Boss.
Soon, the two fish that Li Hong had bought were scaled, gutted, and cleaned. After they were packed, Li Hong quickly paid and left.
Having finished buying the fish, the next task was to purchase tofu and pork.
Li Hong was not in a hurry for the tofu, as he clearly remembered that there was a stall selling tofu right at the entrance of the market. Since it was conveniently located there, he decided to delay buying tofu until later.
First, he would buy the meat, then go for the tofu.
The choice of pork was similar; anyway, since he couldn't find any so-called healthy pork, Li Hong casually picked two pieces of pork that looked good to him.
He bought several pounds of pork, which cost him nearly a hundred dollars. This made Li Hong sigh; pork was more expensive than human flesh!
Of course, after buying the meat, Li Hong also asked the butcher to grind it into minced meat. He could take it home and stir-fry it directly; the leftover minced meat could be used to make meatballs, which would go perfectly with the tofu for a soup.
