Rain fell softly, a gentle reminder of the wisdom of ancestors. The sun had just passed its zenith, preparing to descend, when suddenly, fine droplets began to fall from the clear sky. The light rain nourished the tender branches and leaves, adding a touch of vitality to the surroundings.
This was in Washing City, where the sudden rain made pedestrians hurry their steps even more.
In a less bustling area stood a bar known as Dudu Bar, notorious in this vicinity and even ranking among the best in all of Washing City. The bar was owned by a man named Huang Taisui, an elder who had navigated the Underworld of Washing City for decades. Although he had never formed a gang, he had nurtured many rising talents throughout his life, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that his word carried weight.
Today, like any other day, business at the bar was slow, with hardly anyone around. The bartender seemed disinterested as he daydreamed at the counter while a few staff members idly cleaned up. Most customers were familiar faces, so Huang Taisui did not pay much attention to the minor details. However, just as everyone was feeling bored, a group of over ten burly men suddenly arrived, their urgency surpassing that of the spring rain.
One sharp-eyed security guard stood up and whispered to a staff member before heading towards the group.
Uninvited and unfamiliar faces were naturally not there for friendly purposes.
"Brothers, you all came early! What would you like to drink? Please, make yourselves at home," he greeted them.
The leader of the group, a young man, remained indifferent to the security guard's "warmth." One of the burly men beside him stepped forward without warning and swiftly grabbed the guard by the neck with a powerful hand. Veins bulged on his arm as he lifted the guard off the ground and pushed him back four or five meters until he crashed onto a glass round table, shattering cups and drawing sharp cries from startled patrons.
Scattered customers and staff fled in panic. After years of working at Huang Taisui's bar, they had never witnessed such a bloody scene and were left wondering who had dared to act so boldly and how they would withstand Huang Taisui's wrath afterward.
The earlier staff member was called to summon help from within the bar where one of Huang Taisui's higher-ranking Adopted Sons was stationed. Soon after, over twenty cold-faced men poured out. The leader's expression darkened upon realizing they were at a disadvantage.
"Which side are you from? Do you not even show respect for my adoptive father's reputation?" he demanded.
The aggressive young man scoffed dismissively, showing no interest in conversing with the Adopted Son. He simply said lightly, "Let’s fight!" before leisurely opening a bottle of fine wine.
How could they have such confidence against an opponent twice their number?
Yet in the end, reality proved that old adage about fists being unable to match hands was outdated.
Ten minutes later, the original owner was cleared out of the bar, and a group of people supported each other just enough to leave on their own. The bar, however, was firmly locked with a thick chain.
At the end, the young man turned Adopted Son's face toward him and said sincerely, "Don't feel it's unfair in your heart, don't think that someone as reckless as me won't last long, and don't think about going back to seek revenge immediately. Pride leads to downfall, but in a way, it represents strength. Trust me, once you return, you'll soon understand that my disdain for talking to you is because I need to start getting used to the demeanor and courage expected of a ruler. The scale of one's vision affects the outcome, and from now on, my vision is destined to be vast. This is what my brother taught me: only by not belittling oneself can one rise above others."
Watching the group stumble away, not even daring to sit in a car nearby, the young man stood tall, gazing at a 45-degree angle sky, bathed in the gentle breeze and light rain.
"Zheng Ge, what are you looking at?"
"I'm watching Washing City, it's about to change..."
...
The occurrence of one event is a coincidence; ten events happening is premeditated. Clearly, Clear and Bright marked a significant conspiracy in Washing City. Huang Taisui's Dudu Bar was merely a microcosm. By nightfall, night owls were astonished to discover that over seventy percent of the top bars in Washing City had closed down. Aside from being ominously bound by chains at their doors, none of the bars offered any explanation. In an instant, this stirred up a storm throughout Washing City. Those unaware believed it was government intervention or a reshuffle by the Underworld. Everyone was on edge, ears perked up for any news as various rumors circulated. During this year's Tomb-Sweeping Day, Washing City was shrouded in a mysterious veil.
While most people in Washing City were on high alert, the atmosphere in a villa within the university town was starkly different.
"Canglang's Floating Life", five bold characters hung freely above the entrance like its former owner—unrestrained. Despite being unattended for a long time, the plaque remained pristine; this was perhaps the greatest advantage of northern winters—the crystalline snow absorbed most of the dust in the air, making it surprisingly clean despite heating.
Two black sports cars sped from afar and entered the villa. A group walked through the hall and paused at the entrance for quite some time; the leading young man unexpectedly became emotional upon seeing something.
Four men brought two middle-aged women with them. The leading young man instructed them to return all furniture to its original place while cleaning. The two women, acting as Cleaners, nodded obediently; they dared not offend such a generous Boss who paid handsomely.
The young man's gaze was consistently cold, especially after experiencing the changes brought by Canglang One Floating Life. It was during that gunfire-filled chaos that he truly faced the harshness of the Underworld. However, for him, this brutal reality ignited an endless fighting spirit; having grown up alone and destitute, he never learned how to yield!
His name was Xue, and he had a brother nicknamed Madman!
"Brother, this villa doesn't look like much! Although the walls have just been renovated, it still feels rather old-fashioned. Why go through all this trouble to clean it?"
A young man stood behind a somewhat unruly Yellow-Haired Youth, who appeared puzzled. His tone was light and frivolous, but he did not expect to receive a cold glare from Xue.
"I'm sorry, bro."
Upon meeting Xue's gaze, the Yellow-Haired Youth's confidence visibly waned. He had started following Xue just two months ago after a bar brawl where Xue showcased his exceptional skills. Impressed by his talent, the Yellow-Haired Youth had willingly submitted to him. His name was Tian Feng, and since joining Xue, he had gained significant favor, but his youthful arrogance often led him to act a bit overbearing.
Xue stared for a long moment before slowly withdrawing his gaze. With a tone that carried the weight of past experiences, he said, "Tian, there's something I need to clarify with you. You know I'm not the leader of the Hurricane gang. Now that the person who makes me willing to be a brother has returned, I expect you to show some restraint in front of him. I can overlook your recklessness when it comes to me, but if you can't control yourself around him, I won't be able to break the rules to help you. Do you understand?"
Hearing Xue's admonition, Tian Feng felt a mix of emotions but knew that being recognized by Xue meant he wasn't someone who lacked understanding. After pondering for a moment, he nodded in agreement and stood silently behind Xue, though he was filled with curiosity about the person who could command such respect from Xue.
Xue remained in the villa for a long time, with Tian Feng and two other bodyguards standing like statues behind him. Finally, as dusk deepened and the evening lights began to shine brightly outside, someone came in to report matters to Xue, snapping him back to reality.
"With this spring rain, the landscape of Huaguo is about to be reshuffled."
