Pingcheng is the intersection of Liaoning Province, Jisheng, and the grasslands, serving as the most important military stronghold in Northeast China. It is a city renowned as a transportation hub and logistics node, celebrated throughout history as the "Hero City." Xue's choice to establish a base here to balance the Unification Alliance and Prairie Wolf is undoubtedly the most fitting decision.
When Jufeng arrived in Pingcheng, it was nearly noon. He called Xue to ensure Chuyang and Liu Xing were settled before heading straight to Blazing Axe's headquarters in Pingcheng with Zhu Yao.
Chuyang stood by the hotel window, her delicate bare feet resting on the floor as she calmly watched her father gradually disappear down the street until his figure vanished from sight.
Turning slowly, Chuyang found Liu Xing standing in the room, staring blankly. When their eyes met, his bright blue gaze startled him, causing him to shyly lower his head, intertwining his fingers nervously in front of him.
Liu Xing's unintentional gesture suddenly reminded Chuyang of her past. She recalled her first meeting with her father; wasn't she just like that back then? Perhaps it was her innocence and clarity that prompted her father to take such great risks to bring her into his life.
With these thoughts lingering, Chuyang finally softened her attitude towards Liu Xing a bit. Sitting on the soft sofa bed, she swung her feet rhythmically in the air and spoke kindly to him for once.
"Why did you come to Earth? What’s the point? You’d be better off staying with your mother as a young master instead of suffering here and facing danger."
Liu Xing slowly raised his head at her words, wanting to argue but hesitating. Though shy, he was not foolish; he understood his own feelings and knew that Chuyang was aware of them too. Yet, he stubbornly clung to something, which is why things remained this way.
Seeing this, Chuyang sighed helplessly, stopping her feet from swinging. She looked directly at Liu Xing and said earnestly, "Liu Xing, we are still kids. Your thoughts now don’t represent your future. You can follow me, but if you waste all your time on these matters, you won’t achieve anything later on. I like outstanding men like my father; do you understand?"
Liu Xing's previously dim eyes suddenly brightened at that moment, resembling the Morning Star visible from Earth, instantly lifting his spirits.
"Is that really true? I'm not useless; look..." Liu Xing walked over to the bedside table and picked up a tall glass. His delicate hands struggled to grip it properly. Then his expression grew serious as he took a moment to gather himself. With a loud crash, the glass shattered into pieces in his hands.
Chuyang stared in shock at this scene, her mouth agape as if she could swallow an egg whole. She recalled how Liu Gulang had unhesitatingly placed Liu Xing beside Jufeng; it seemed he intended for Liu Xing to learn from him.
Chuyang had to admit that when Liu Xing was serious, he possessed an enchanting charm. However, she refused to acknowledge it verbally. Instead, she patted Liu Xing on the shoulder like a leader inspecting their team and quickly fled toward the living room.
...
The villa was luxurious and adorned with exquisite decorations. Unlike most gangs in Huaguo that chose bars like Association as their bases, the Russians knew how to enjoy life. When Jufeng and Zhu Yao arrived at the villa, they found it heavily guarded outside, prompting Jufeng to nod repeatedly in approval. However, agreement did not mean leniency; after giving them a severe blow this time around, Jufeng realized he had no choice but to emulate his ancestors' wise decision of using others' strengths against them.
Jufeng raised his hand to shield his forehead, glancing up at the sun before doing some stretching exercises for a few minutes. Then he walked with Zhu Yao toward the nearby headquarters of the Flame Axe Empire.
As they reached the entrance, they were stopped by two tall and muscular men. Surprisingly, they did not have European features, indicating that Blazing Axe had invested significantly in Huaguo.
"Go tell Ronald that Jufeng has come to pay his respects."
The two big men clearly knew quite a bit, as their bodies stiffened noticeably upon hearing " Jufeng." Their gazes toward him became somewhat fervent. Jufeng smiled calmly, while one of the guards quickly returned to the villa to report. Shortly after, he came back to invite Jufeng inside.
Jufeng appeared relaxed, like a tourist enjoying the sights, while Zhu Yao, just two steps behind him, was tense all over, exuding a heavy aura of killing intent.
"Don't be too nervous; we're just here to talk. They wouldn't dare do anything to us. I noticed you didn't eat anything this morning. Once we get inside, make sure to enjoy a hearty meal."
Zhu Yao looked at this young man, currently the hottest topic in Huaguo, with a mix of amusement and exasperation. Observing his demeanor, she couldn't discern any hint of leadership qualities in him. Who would have thought that just moments ago, he was strategizing in Yang City as the Underworld Young Master and now was thinking about how to indulge himself at the enemy's table?
The title of Young Master had emerged in the assassin world recently when the Unification Alliance placed a bounty of one hundred million on Jufeng's head, calling upon assassins worldwide to take him down. To facilitate communication among those in the underworld, they referred to this top-tier bounty as the Underworld Young Master.
The two of them navigated through the heavily guarded villa and entered inside. The scene within was similar to that outside—guarded and imposing. Jufeng couldn't help but label this Russian as someone who valued his life.
Upon meeting others, there was naturally some scrutiny involved. However, Jufeng didn't want to appear overly polite; he glanced briefly before swaggering over to sit on the sofa, with Zhu Yao closely following behind.
Jufeng's rudeness went unpunished; Ronald merely smiled in response. Several bodyguards behind him glared angrily but were silenced by Ronald's slight wave of his hand.
"The Underworld Young Master truly lives up to his name; I never expected you to be so young," Ronald said as he took a seat himself, displaying gentlemanly manners and refinement. It was rumored that the Russian underworld was controlled by nobility, and it seemed true; unlike Huaguo, where only rough characters mingled in such unsavory affairs.
Jufeng crossed his legs and picked up a box of cigarettes that had been prepared on the coffee table. The brand was unknown to him; he wasn't well-versed in this area but could guess that one of these cigarettes would take an ordinary person quite some time to earn enough money for.
He pulled out a cigarette and lit it. Mimicking how others smoked from his memory, he took a light puff but immediately grimaced at the taste. Fortunately, Jufeng's martial arts training was profound enough that he managed not to cough excessively.
He stubbed out the cigarette on the coffee table with disdain and muttered, "This foreign cigarette tastes terrible here in Huaguo!"
"Hey, Old Luo, you called me over so early in the morning that I didn't even have time for breakfast. Seeing you living in such a luxurious villa as soon as you arrived in Huaguo, I assume you won't skimp on a meal. I won't hold back; please let me taste some Russian cuisine."
Ronald was momentarily taken aback, thinking to himself what kind of game Jufeng was playing. Here he was, on the brink of confrontation, and Romain still had the leisure to come here and mooch a meal. It was utterly incomprehensible. However, despite his inner confusion, he maintained a calm demeanor due to the noble etiquette he had been taught. He waved over one of his subordinates and gave instructions, and soon four exquisite dishes were served.
Upon seeing the food, Jufeng's eyes sparkled with delight. Taking up his chopsticks, he boldly began to eat right there in the bustling Tiger's Den, exuding an air reminiscent of Tong Bailong.
Across from him, even Blaze Axe Gang members were taken aback; Zhu Yao's heart raced as she realized that Romain's earlier bravado had indeed come to fruition. However, she dared not indulge herself in such a setting and could only heighten her vigilance.
After taking a couple of bites, Romain suddenly turned around and scooped up a spoonful of caviar, holding it out in front of Zhu Yao. She paused for a moment before understanding his intention. A rare blush crept onto her cheeks as she hesitated. But Romain smiled at her encouragingly, holding the spoon steady in mid-air. In the enemy's lair, Zhu Yao couldn't refuse Romain's gesture. With great difficulty, her cherry-red lips slowly parted, revealing her pearly white teeth—a captivating sight.
Romain smiled with satisfaction and turned back to savor his meal. The room full of people watched one person eat, creating an oddly tense atmosphere.
After a while, commotion erupted outside. Moments later, a brother from the perimeter rushed in to report that Hurricane had mobilized and surrounded the villa.
At this announcement, everyone was startled and quickly drew their guns, aiming them directly at Jufeng. However, one person moved faster than the rest; as soon as the disturbance began outside, Zhu Yao had already been poised for action. She darted out just as others were drawing their weapons, her Lunar Blade already pressed against Ronald's neck.
The previously harmonious scene instantly turned tense—an atmosphere charged with danger!
"Mr. Ju, what do you mean by this?"
Jufeng chewed thoughtfully before slowly lifting his head to smile at Ronald without showing any signs of nervousness. His gaze swept over the surrounding Gunners before he calmly said, "Mr. Ronald, you've fallen into a misconception. Although your military industry is advanced in Russia, you rely too heavily on external factors and neglect your own training. Can you draw your gun quickly? But can you outpace an individual?"
"I mean no harm; Surround and Support—aren't there many Blazing Axe members in Pingcheng? I want to see if they will come to rescue this besieged villa and whether they can escape our ambush if they do. Hehehe!"
Upon hearing this, Ronald's previously maintained smile finally faltered into a cold glare. The chill creeping along his neck made him furious but unable to lash out recklessly.
Zhu Yao stood firm against dozens of gun barrels; inside the villa, Blazing Axe bodyguards were anxious but dared not move an inch. The situation froze for a moment until Romain chuckled again and resumed eating.
The commotion outside continued unabated; one could only imagine how fierce the battle was. The fighting raged on from morning until afternoon and lasted nearly two hours before it began to taper off sporadically. Suddenly, the peaceful villa door swung open, revealing a towering figure in view.
“Tong Bailong, come quickly! There’s still some food here that I haven’t touched; it’s all saved for you.”
Jufeng saw Tong Bailong enter and, knowing the outcome of the battle outside was as expected, called out eagerly. Tong Bailong was covered in blood, but fortunately, there were no obvious injuries on him. He had originally come to deliver good news, but upon hearing about the food, he set that aside.
Jufeng stood up and rubbed his hands together, feeling satisfied after a hearty meal. Zhu Yao also sheathed the Lunar Blade and slowly stepped back behind Jufeng. Although neither of them had made a move during the confrontation, the test of their inner resolve was particularly brutal.
“Old Luo, I know that your Blazing Axe group originally looked down on us small fries, which is why you sent this second-rate Senior Management to deal with us. But I hope this lesson serves as a wake-up call for you. The land of Huaguo is not something just anyone can tread upon!”
Jufeng slowly walked out of the villa. Throughout the entire encounter, Ronald and his bodyguards did not dare to make any attempt to stop him.
Sometimes, it only takes one strike to repel an enemy!
