Listening to the melodies of the strings, Tang Haoran's unspoken concerns revolved around the fear that the Hurricane might become a second Unification Alliance. Humans are inherently greedy, and when it comes to someone as young and renowned as Jufeng or Hurricane, the saying "there are no eternal friends, only eternal interests" rings true. Tang Haoran dreaded that this phrase might become a reality, making their situation akin to seeking skin from a tiger.
"That can't be!" Even Wu Li, with his straightforward demeanor, understood what Tang Haoran was implying. He exclaimed, "I see Feng Shao as a righteous person; he wouldn't do anything against his principles!"
Tang Haoran looked at the naive Wu Li with concern. "Even if he wouldn't, who can guarantee that the growing Hurricane won't? His brothers are all young and hot-blooded, driven by ambition. Who knows if after we unite to destroy the Unification Alliance and the United Heart Association, they won't turn their weapons against us?"
"This..." Wu Li couldn't grasp the reasoning behind it and could only turn his gaze toward Yu Jianyuan.
Yu Jianyuan looked at his two brothers who had protected him through thick and thin, and he couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion.
"Haoran, it seems you've forgotten something. If we successfully eliminate the Unification Alliance and restore Hua Gang, who among us can sit on the throne as the leader?"
There were many leaders in Hua Gang: Elder Yuan among the elders, Situ Yu among the younger generation, and figures like Yu Jianyuan himself. However, when it came down to who would ultimately be supported by the Brothers as the leader, there was only one person.
The former Irin King of the Eight Kings—Flower Snow Moon.
Regardless of how Flower Snow Moon preserved Hua Gang's vital forces during its crisis or her clever strategies at the beginning of its restoration with Hurricane's assistance, her royal status alone commanded enough respect.
After the death of Hua Gang's leader, only a king could ascend to the throne.
Tang Haoran understood this in his heart but refrained from voicing it.
Yu Jianyuan sensed that Tang Haoran had arrived at an answer and smiled. "In that case, what do we have to worry about? The Irin King has a close friendship with Jufeng; when the time comes, even if it's handed over willingly, we should support it. Moreover, to be honest, Jufeng isn't that kind of person, and he naturally has ways to win over his brothers."
...
The capital was both a hometown and a place of sorrow for Jufeng. Since leaving Earth, Father Ju's old courtyard had been handed over to the state, leaving him feeling like a rootless drifter in the capital.
Staying at Lushi Hotel Chain in a mid-range room on the Sixth Floor, it wasn't luxurious but was equipped with all necessary amenities.
Jufeng was merely using the room as a cover; the real purpose lay next door, with a couple of individuals.
They left Zhangjia City in the morning, quickly resolving their hunger on the way, and arrived in the capital just as the sun began its descent.
In the hotel lobby, three people sat in a corner lounge area. Jufeng and Bill were seated next to each other, while Zhu Yao faced them, browsing through a newspaper.
As for how much she could actually read, Jufeng remained skeptical.
At two-thirty in the afternoon, a white woman wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap, dressed in a khaki trench coat, entered the hotel. Bill spotted her from a distance and quickly turned his head back, nudging Jufeng with his elbow.
"Brother Jufeng, that's the woman in the khaki trench coat."
Upon receiving Bill's cue, Jufeng leaned back slightly against the sofa, using Bill's body as cover to glance toward the entrance.
The woman was tall and slender with fair skin and an outstanding presence. Although her full face was obscured, it was easy to guess that beneath those sunglasses lay a beautiful visage.
"Well, Matthew has good taste; it's not easy for a Chinese guy to have such a girl willing to be his mistress," Jufeng remarked, retracting his gaze with a sigh of admiration. However, he was met with Zhu Yao's scornful retort.
"Hmph, your standards for judging people are quite peculiar. They're just using each other; neither of them is anything special!"
After becoming familiar with Jufeng, Zhu Yao often managed to put him in awkward positions, leaving him speechless.
The woman in the trench coat walked further into the hotel while Jufeng and his companions continued to wait. About fifteen minutes later, Bill nudged Jufeng again.
"Brother Jufeng, that person in the black tracksuit is Matthew."
Jufeng repeated the earlier action, getting a clearer picture of Matthew's appearance. He was fit but not overly muscular, and his profile was quite handsome. With clean-cut short hair, he looked like a successful individual.
"Now that the actor is here, let's head upstairs and get started!"
...
Matthew, the president of Equivolve District, had been thoroughly investigated by Bill earlier. He was of Chinese descent, married, and had a daughter studying abroad.
Since Jufeng and the others were waiting here, it confirmed Bill's new discovery: Matthew had a secret lover. But who was the woman in the trench coat?
When Jufeng heard this news, he was first stunned, then delighted, ultimately bursting into laughter. It was clear how shocking or bizarre this revelation was.
The reason was simple; Matthew's secret lover was Claudia.
The president of Incorvaia District.
Suddenly, Jufeng had a thought—was it possible that he had inadvertently become a matchmaker for the two?
However, now this matchmaker was about to intervene in their romance...
Back in the room, Jufeng and the others waited quietly. Matthew and Claudia were next door, but unfortunately, the hotel’s excellent soundproofing meant they couldn’t hear anything from the adjacent room.
"Bill, should we wait until they're done before going in, or should we go in midway? I feel like the latter option is too cruel. What if Brother Ma ends up with some sort of trauma and can't live happily ever after? Wouldn't I be the villain in that case?"
Seeing Jufeng feign sympathy, Bill held back his laughter but ultimately couldn't resist. Brother Jufeng had become increasingly perceptive; he no longer needed to act aloof or deliberately approachable. His straightforward yet balanced approach to life was truly enviable.
"Well... it's still up to Brother Jufeng to decide. But if we wait until they're finished, we might miss capturing any solid evidence."
"What's there to be afraid of?" Jufeng explained. "Even if we catch them entering the hotel one after another, there will still be plenty to discuss. Besides, Brother Ma won't just finish and run off; he has to say a few sweet nothings first. How about this: you all go in first, I can't bear to watch such a steamy scene. I'll wait until they're dressed before I go in."
"Brother Jufeng, I can't go over there; it's the sixteenth floor."
"Then let Yao go first."
"Get lost!"
...
Under Feng Shao's coercion and tricks, Zhu Yao eventually compromised, but only if Jufeng accompanied her while Bill stayed behind in the original room.
Twenty minutes after Matthew entered the room, Jufeng and Zhu Yao began to make their move.
Each room had a balcony, but they were quite far apart, about ten meters or so. Standing on the balcony, beneath them was an abyss; one misstep could lead to a fatal fall.
"How does it look? Can we make it over?"
Zhu Yao looked at the distance and pondered for a moment before saying, "Crossing over is fine, but it might make some noise."
Jufeng chuckled and said, "How about this: I'll go over first. You hold onto the camera that Bill prepared, and I'll come back to get you."
"You could easily do it yourself; why do you have to drag me along?" Zhu Yao protested reluctantly.
Upon hearing this, Jufeng's expression turned serious. "How can that be? What if there's a killer? I need you to protect me."
Having already confirmed that no matter what Zhu Yao said, Jufeng would always find a reason to counter her argument, she had no choice but to obediently comply.
Jufeng took a step back on the balcony, needing no preparation at all. In an instant, he leaped onto the railing, his legs deeply bent like a spring compressed to its maximum, and then suddenly released.
He landed silently on the opposite balcony.
Jufeng first surveyed the area; the balcony door was closed, and the curtains inside were drawn halfway, perfectly concealing his landing.
Suddenly, strange sounds assaulted his ears, causing Jufeng's heart to tighten. He cursed inwardly at how formidable this woman was! Steadying himself, he quickly signaled for Zhu Yao to come over.
Zhu Yao's agility was not on par with Jufeng's, so she needed to use the wall for leverage, which meant she had to jump off one leg. She chose to leap with her left leg, lightly touching the wall in mid-air before propelling herself forward again until she landed in Jufeng's arms.
Still silent.
Bill stared in disbelief at everything happening before him, unable to believe his eyes as he muttered to himself, "Is this even human?"
