In a general sense, after experiencing a disaster, people often find themselves involuntarily embracing the belief that surviving such calamities must bring future blessings. However, they are unaware of another saying: blessings do not come in pairs, while misfortunes seldom come alone.
The rumbling sound of machinery echoed like the death knell of war drums. As the noise grew louder and the number of mechas increased, the drumming became more intense, pounding relentlessly in the hearts of the crowd, causing a shiver of dread.
Nearly fifty mechas loomed like dark clouds over the devastated land, pressing down on everyone and making it hard to breathe.
Unexpectedly, the terrorists had reinforcements, and they were formidable.
Now, only about twenty Cosmic Police remained, all battered and broken, facing these intact enemies with almost no chance of victory.
Despair seeped into this dark cloud, enveloping everyone.
Jufeng was helping a mecha escape from the rubble, surrounded by several rescued teammates. Meanwhile, the terrorists stood not far away, observing this ragtag group of heroes as if they were mere ants.
The scene was eerily silent.
Suddenly, two terrorists emerged from the Mecha Group and approached the crowd. Iron Arm wielded a Thermal Sword, slicing through armor as easily as a knife cuts through skin.
They passed by two incapacitated and powerless Cosmic Police officers. With swift strikes, they pierced their chests, leaving no room for struggle; even after the disaster, there was no survival left.
The two mechas continued forward, coldly resembling executioners.
At that moment, two shells suddenly shot out from beside Jufeng, flying toward the nearby terrorists.
On the vast plain, the two shells stood out prominently and were easy to dodge.
Two Terrorists easily dodged, and the Shell landed on a slightly more distant patch of ground, adding two more scars to this already ravaged area.
Some rose up to resist, and the Cosmic Police suddenly felt a glimmer of hope.
Even if it was just a glimmer, it was better than nothing.
However, the Terrorists were furious, as if a rooster had suddenly struggled while being slaughtered, splattering blood onto its owner's clothes—very annoying.
Thus, the Terrorists ignored everyone else and charged straight at the one who fired the cannon.
A Mecha stood up beside Jufeng. His gaze sharpened; it was a familiar face—Hua Cheng. He couldn't believe that Hua Cheng had survived, and from the looks of it, he had only sustained superficial injuries.
Hua Cheng also switched his Iron Arm for a Thermal Sword and quickly rushed toward the two Terrorists.
The entire area remained eerily silent, the atmosphere growing even more solemn.
In that moment, Jufeng suddenly felt that this squad leader wasn't so detestable after all.
Being a squad leader in the Galactic Ironclad Corps was enough to show that Hua Cheng indeed possessed considerable strength. Faced with two ordinary Terrorists, he was not at a disadvantage.
Jufeng glanced twice to assess the situation before shifting his focus to the Mecha Group in the rear.
There were still too many people lurking with ill intent; he had to buy time for the main force's arrival. Liu Gulang was continuously calling for help, believing that as long as they had some time, reinforcements would come.
So, there was hope that Hua Cheng could hold on a little longer.
...
The three of them fought for five minutes, and Terrorist gradually began to falter. Suddenly, Hua Cheng surged forward, taking advantage of one person's moment of inattention to slash at their arm with his sword. The entire Iron Arm, along with the Thermal Sword, fell abruptly to the ground, and the Thermal Sword lost its energy source, vanishing instantly.
The other person, seeing their companion incapacitated, couldn't help but feel a pang of fear. They cautiously retreated with their ally while keeping a wary eye on Hua Cheng.
The Terrorists seemed not to have anticipated that such a powerful individual would survive after such an explosion. Yet, despite being caught off guard, they still felt they were in control. With a mindset akin to playing with dolls, they sent out four more Terrorists.
Hua Cheng's expression darkened.
Jufeng clenched his fists tightly inside the mech but refrained from acting rashly. If he couldn't strike at the most critical moment, it could provoke a collective assault from the Terrorists. In that case, the remaining survivors might meet the same fate as those two who had perished without a chance for survival.
The four Terrorists surrounded Hua Cheng from all directions and then launched their attack without warning, all four wielding Thermal Swords. Hua Cheng found himself overwhelmed; after dodging two strikes and bracing against another, he still couldn't protect his back.
"Shh!"
That was the sound of metal sizzling as it vaporized upon impact. Although the blade hadn't penetrated deeply, it still left a wound.
And this was just the beginning.
The battle continued as if under the White Wall Effect, with more and more wounds appearing on Hua Cheng's mech, grotesque and terrifying.
Jufeng's knuckles turned increasingly pale as he clenched his fists, his gaze growing colder. But now was not the time to act.
Suddenly, the voice of Liu Gulang reached his ears.
"Brother Jufeng, look at those mechs in the center of the crowd; they seem familiar."
At Liu Gulang's words, Jufeng turned his attention to the mechs he indicated. There was indeed a sense of familiarity, but he couldn't quite place where he had seen them before.
Then, a thought flashed through his mind, and both Jufeng and Liu Gulang simultaneously uttered a name.
"Azure Dragon Monk!"
Back when Jufeng infiltrated Pirate Planet, he had been discovered and besieged by Azure Dragon Monk. Fortunately, Liu Gulang had appeared, and together they had obliterated most of the pirate Mecha Squad. Now that he thought about it, weren't those mechs exactly the same style as the ones Liu Gulang pointed out?
What a stroke of luck! Since Azure Dragon Monk was here, there was no time to waste. Jufeng quickly adjusted the controls inside the mech, switching from maneuvering mode to full automation. His principle had always been that operating it himself was far more reassuring than relying on automated systems.
Just as Jufeng finished adjusting, Liu Gulang's excited voice rang in his ears again.
"Brother Jufeng, I've contacted reinforcements; they'll arrive in half an hour at the earliest."
Half an hour—Jufeng mentally noted this timeframe. Then, without warning, he surged forward, pushing the Thruster to its limits. A gust of wind swept across the battered battlefield as another mech suddenly appeared in the center.
As soon as Jufeng arrived, his body jolted against the ground before leaping into action. He adjusted the mech to a near-human state and executed a side kick with precision, sending two mechs flying out of the arena.
After landing, the assault continued. With a swift turn, Jufeng executed a sweeping kick, sending the unsteady Terrorist crashing to the ground. However, before the Terrorist could make contact with the surface, Jufeng delivered a powerful side kick, leaving a sliding mark of over ten meters on the ground.
Jufeng turned again, without any unnecessary movements, simply watching the Terrorist who was now frozen in shock. Time seemed to stand still for two seconds before the Terrorist quickly turned and ran away.
Hua Cheng was exhausted, his body covered in wounds from the Thermal Sword, barely able to stand. He had witnessed the sudden appearance of the mecha that had come to his rescue, performing a series of fluid movements that left him speechless. Once he confirmed the identity of the mecha, he was left in a daze.
In the Terrorist's Mecha Group, seeing this suddenly aggressive mecha wiped away their playful demeanor, replaced by a heavy atmosphere as if a storm were brewing.
If it weren't for the automatic mode, such a series of actions would have been impossible. The fact that the pilot could execute those movements in automatic mode proved that they had reached an unparalleled level of skill in operating mechas.
Hua Cheng muttered in disbelief, "It's actually Crimson Rank!"
