The blade of Jufeng pointed forward once again. The four injured individuals faced Jufeng, clearly no longer in an advantageous position. They decided to "entrench" themselves in place, forming a quartet of Turrets.
Although the previous three Turrets had put considerable effort into countering the three mechs launched by Jufeng, they had not sustained any damage at all. Therefore, it was now their turn to take over for their fallen comrades and continue the fight against Jufeng.
The Terrorists operated in a wheel battle format, always deploying their mechs in peak condition. However, Jufeng was already in a state of disarray after experiencing a massive explosion and a shell strike. He was battered and bruised, and his energy levels were critically low.
Jufeng glanced at the energy display beside him, where the red light was flashing incessantly, indicating that only a sliver of energy remained.
A sliver that was barely perceptible to the naked eye.
Yet at this moment, if Jufeng showed even a hint of fear, it would give the Terrorists a psychological advantage, prompting them to swarm him. On the battlefield, besides himself, there were Vera, Liu Gulang, Hua Cheng, and his comrades watching from the sidelines. Although most had lost their combat effectiveness, they could still exert some deterrent influence on the Terrorists behind them. Therefore, no matter what, he had to hold on for a little longer.
Then he would hold on for a little longer.
Jufeng steeled himself, muttering under his breath before discarding the energy-draining Thermal Sword in favor of a steel metal knife. He charged fiercely toward the three mechs.
"Damn it! This is even more exhausting than hand-to-hand combat!"
...
With the Metal Knife equipped, Jufeng's actions were seen by the Terrorists as the utmost insult—taking on three opponents while injured. Wasn't this blatant contempt?! A worthy opponent would have also switched to a Metal Knife out of respect; however, the Terrorists clearly lacked that sense of honor. Though they felt furious inside, they intended to channel that anger through this unfair method.
Seven against one was inherently unfair. Yet they still insisted on maintaining their dignity—this was a classic display of human nature.
Jufeng surged forward, kicking up a whirlwind of dust as three Terrorists transitioned back from their Turrets to their mechs, filled with rage as they confronted Jufeng.
The fierce battle raged on, causing the ground to tremble slightly. Amidst the swirling dust and flying stones, even the movements of the mechs became hard to discern.
Liu Gulang gazed at Jufeng, who had transformed into Steel Blade not far away. He danced like the wind between the three of them, his movements fluid and natural, creating an illusion that made it difficult to see him clearly. Liu Gulang couldn't help but exclaim, "Brother Jufeng's mech skills have truly improved rapidly since before."
Back when they were on Pirate Planet, Liu Gulang had fought alongside Jufeng, breaking through a siege of fifty pirates. Although their escape had been perilously close, Jufeng had already showcased formidable mech capabilities at that time. Liu Gulang hadn't undergone standard mech level assessments but estimated himself to be around Blue Level Lower Tier. At that time, Jufeng was only slightly stronger than him and had clearly not reached Crimson Rank. Yet in just a few short months, he had surpassed that daunting threshold—truly astonishing!
However, before Liu Gulang could fully process his amazement, Vera's words plunged his heart into despair.
Vera's cool voice, tinged with a hint of concern, reached Liu Gulang's ears: "Switching to Metal Knife is a last resort. His energy is running low."
Vera's words jolted Liu Gulang awake. Instinctively, he glanced at his own energy bar and saw it dwindling to a thin line, nearly triggering a red alert.
"Then Brother Jufeng is in great danger!" Liu Gulang exclaimed anxiously, preparing to rush forward to assist him, only to realize that his mech's legs had lost control.
Vera's gaze remained fixed on the distant battlefield when suddenly her voice echoed in Liu Gulang's ears.
"Check how long until reinforcements arrive."
Without a moment's hesitation, Liu Gulang quickly contacted the reinforcements again.
"They'll be here in at least half a minute."
Half a minute—Vera silently calculated this in her mind before her mech suddenly powered up and surged forward.
First, moving neither too fast nor too slow, it only accelerated suddenly when it caught the attention of the Terrorist.
The mech sped across the plains, quickly coming into view of four Turrets. They clearly did not expect another relatively intact mech to emerge from the wreckage, so they were caught off guard and failed to fire their Tracking Missiles in time. Instinctively, the four Flow Cannons were launched in an attempt to halt Vera's advance.
However, Vera showed no signs of slowing down. The mech flew at full speed, covering a distance of at least a kilometer in just a few seconds. As Vera faced the incoming Shells, her fingers flew rapidly across the controls in the cockpit. In a bizarre maneuver, she calmly navigated through the encirclement of four Shells. The Shells exploded behind her as Vera continued her high-speed flight without interruption.
Wow! The entire landscape, including the Terrorist and Liu Gu Langhua along with the weary warriors, could hardly believe their eyes. Vera's astonishing passage was posing a question to everyone.
"Another Crimson Rank?!"
Hua Cheng's jaw dropped in disbelief.
Of course, there were still some who couldn't afford to be shocked. The three mechs engaged in battle with Jufeng were among them; they dared not let their guard down because their opponent was far too formidable!
Yet, just as they sensed an impending crisis—something akin to a sixth sense—a new mech suddenly appeared in the battlefield, and it was an enemy, not an ally.
Before they could comprehend what was happening, the new mech positioned itself before Jufeng and swung its Thermal Sword with precision. In an instant, all three mechs sustained injuries.
The Turrets on the periphery finally regained their composure and quickly fired several shells into the fray. Thanks to the distraction caused by the Shells, the three mechs managed to withdraw.
Meanwhile, Vera and Jufeng also retreated together, resulting in a brief respite after the intense skirmish.
Inside his mech, Jufeng gasped for breath as he fought with his Metal Knife against the Thermal Sword. It felt like battling with a willow branch against a sharp sword—exhausting indeed.
Taking a couple of breaths to calm himself, he said to Vera, "Thank you..."
Vera's cold voice echoed in Jufeng's ears, "You can thank me later, after we deal with them."
Jufeng nodded, no longer wasting energy on words. He was already running on empty and needed to gather some support before he became completely immobile.
There were no more Turrets among the Terrorists; the seven battle-damaged mechas had gathered together, preparing to launch an assault on Jufeng and his companions.
Just then, a voice reached the Azure Dragon Monk's ears, a report from his subordinate responsible for reconnaissance.
"Boss, enemy reinforcements are here."
The Azure Dragon Monk raised an eyebrow. He had a chance to eliminate two troublesome Crimson Rank opponents; how could reinforcements arrive so suddenly?
After a moment of contemplation, he decisively ordered a retreat. His primary mission was to handle matters in the mountains; he couldn't let these two Crimson-Class Mechas delay his larger objectives.
As soon as the Azure Dragon Monk gave the order, the Terrorists took to the air one after another. The seven Azure Level Mechas that received the message also flew back toward their rear.
This action excited Hua Cheng and his comrades, but Jufeng furrowed his brow. His main target was the Azure Dragon Monk; having paid a hefty price, he couldn't let him leave so easily.
Jufeng turned his mecha around and began firing at the few Pirate Planet mechas in the center. However, there were too many Terrorists; only a few rounds managed to break through and block Jufeng's solitary fire.
Moreover, unexpectedly, after reaching a certain altitude, those seven Azure Level Mechas concentrated their firepower and aimed it at the ground. Their target was not Jufeng or Vera but rather their unconscious comrade.
Seven high-energy projectiles raced toward the ground. Vera saw Jufeng still firing relentlessly and, unable to remind him, had no choice but to forcibly pull him away from the vicinity.
"Boom!" A violent explosion echoed on the ground, and looking down, the mech was shattered into countless fragments.
In the mountains, the sound of mechs suddenly emerged, followed by an endless stream of mechs appearing in everyone's sight.
At this moment, the Terrorist had already vanished from view.
Jufeng gradually descended to the ground, swaying unsteadily and nearly losing his balance. Thanks to Vera's mech supporting him, he managed to stabilize himself.
Leaning against Vera's shoulder, Romain smiled and said, "If only we didn't have these two mechs..."
