When Jufeng first encountered the Illusion Ninja Technique, he found it merely intriguing. Following the principle that having many skills is never a burden, he decided to learn it. However, as he delved deeper, he truly grasped the essence of this unconventional martial art, leading him to study it further, and he reaped some rewards—at least for now, it had proven useful.
Before long, Jufeng learned from Yang Chou the information he sought. Yet, some of it was so unbelievable that it left him stunned for a moment.
However, since the Arms Factory had already been established, no amount of anxiety on his part could change that; everything would have to be decided by the Cosmic Police.
Regaining his composure, he lifted the Illusion from Yang Chou. The latter snapped back to reality, shocked to find a brief blank in his memory. This revelation caused him to panic and scream at Jufeng.
"You despicable man! What have you done to me? I will kill you! I will kill you..."
Yang Chou shouted as he struggled to rise from the roots of the tree and lunged at Jufeng. Romain merely stood there, looking at this once-mighty man with a mix of amusement and pity.
Just as Yang Chou managed to stand up, a flash of light zipped past Jufeng's side. Blood splattered as an exceptionally sharp dagger pierced Yang Chou's chest, pinning him against the massive tree trunk behind him!
He died without ever being able to close his eyes.
Chen Tan Hua slowly approached from behind Jufeng, gazing at the lifeless Yang Chou with not a hint of emotion in his eyes.
"Would you like to hear my story?" Chen Tan Hua tilted his head slightly towards Jufeng and asked calmly.
Jufeng temporarily set aside his concerns about the location of the Arms Factory, smiled, and nodded before following Chen Tan Hua out of the forest.
The scent of gunpowder in the dense woods had dissipated over the past month; only faint traces of bullet marks remained on the tree trunks. Not far from the edge of the forest, sounds of battle intertwined with those from Shells echoed continuously. The two men emerged from the woods and effortlessly leaped onto a tall tree, sitting among its intertwining branches while gazing into the distance as a gentle breeze brushed their faces.
"My ancestors were also soldiers; generation after generation produced military personnel. My father was an outstanding soldier as well, achieving high ranks at a young age. It seems you resemble him quite a bit," Chen Tan Hua remarked.
Jufeng was taken aback by this observation, unsure how Chen Tan Hua could perceive his "high rank and wealth." However, it was true that with the resources from Crimson Rank and his military industry experience on the battlefield, Jufeng had indeed achieved ambitions that many young men yearned for—becoming a noble in their youth.
However, since Chen Tan Hua's father was once so glorious, how did he end up in such a predicament? Since it was Yang Chou who instigated this matter, there must be an undeniable connection with him. Remembering Yang Chou's military background, it seemed that some kind of link was about to surface.
Chen Tan Hua noticed Jufeng's momentary surprise and unconsciously regained his smile. As he recounted the past that he had never wished to mention before, his feelings had already changed; it was a sense of relief and understanding.
He continued, "I suppose that being granted titles at such a young age must have made you the envy of many. My father faced similar jealousy back then. Yang Chou was one of his trusted soldiers, and my father valued him highly. Little did he know that out of jealousy, Yang Chou would betray him."
"There was an operation to capture a drug lord. At the most dangerous moment, Yang Chou abandoned my father to save himself. Of course, in the end, the mission failed, and he was expelled from the army."
At this point, Chen Tan Hua's voice suddenly turned sharp and fierce. "But do you know? If it were just that, I wouldn't have killed him. It wasn't until I grew up that I learned he was the one who killed my father. My poor dad dedicated his entire youth to the military for its honor, only to end up being killed by one of his own."
As Chen Tan Hua spoke, he couldn't help but let out a self-deprecating laugh. However, Jufeng could hear the bitterness beneath it—a son's deep love for his father.
Jufeng didn't know how to comfort him. It was easy to imagine how much hardship Chen Tan Hua had endured to uncover the truth behind his father's murder; such experiences couldn't be summed up in just a few words. After pondering for a while, perhaps silence was the best response.
Time drifted in the wind for a long while; the distant sounds of cannon fire faded into quietness. Chen Tan Hua seemed to have calmed down as he looked at Jufeng and smiled. "Is my story unpleasant? Like most people, it doesn't hold much meaning. Yet for me, it's everything I've lived through in these twenty years."
"Now, I've made him witness the destruction of his legacy firsthand. And I plan to first violate and then kill his beautiful daughter studying at Magellanic Star. He must be dying with regret; even as a ghost, he wouldn't let me off easily. But I'm not afraid; his daughter is a good girl, and I'm not interested in her at all. It's just that he must pay back his sins a thousandfold."
Hearing Chen Tan Hua's words, Jufeng couldn't help but feel helpless. Chen Tan Hua truly was an extraordinary person. If he had a broader mind, he wouldn't insist on making Yang Chou die in despair; even if he did die, it wouldn't grant him peace of mind. If he were narrow-minded, he wouldn't spare the enemy's daughter at all. It was quite perplexing.
Yet in reality, such individuals are often the most principled ones; they maintain their integrity amidst desires and do not go with the flow but instead have their own thoughts. Of course, having been undercover among terrorists for so many years was also driven by purpose.
Jufeng smiled lightly and stood up among the intertwining branches; they were several dozen meters high with an expansive view that truly felt refreshing.
"About what I asked you earlier—have you thought it over? Now that you've avenged your great grievance and have nothing else to attend to, why not return with me?"
Chen Tan Hua stood up after Jufeng, his expression beginning to lower as sunlight shifted from warm to cool. He stretched his arms but did not answer directly; instead, he posed a question.
"You must understand, I am a Terrorist. Even if I help you, it won't change the essence of being a Terrorist. Are you sure you can guarantee that I won't be judged by those narrow-minded people? I have killed countless people, and even with the maximum reduction in sentence, I will probably have to spend a few years in prison. Should I suffer this imprisonment for your sake?"
Chen Tan Hua's words were very realistic. Jufeng fell silent upon hearing them; in fact, he had already considered these points, but he had yet to reach a definitive conclusion.
After a long pause, he finally turned around slowly and said to Chen Tan Hua, "If you are willing to trust me, I will ensure that you are not sentenced. However, some form of confinement is unavoidable."
Chen Tan Hua gazed into Jufeng's eyes. After a long while, he suddenly burst into laughter. When the laughter subsided, he slowly said, "Alright! Then I will take a gamble and see if you are worth trusting."
Night was about to fall. The war that had been tumultuous for nearly a day was coming to an end. Of course, the sweeping of the entire planet would continue for a long time, and there were still many members of both Terrorist groups scattered across various planets. The Cosmic Police would undoubtedly have no rest in the near future.
Every night, the lights would come on, but tonight was destined to be shrouded in darkness.
