This time, the Cosmic Police deployed a force of fifty thousand personnel to encircle this planet, including elite teams from the Galactic Ironclad Corps and the Landing Troops, ensuring that nothing went amiss. Leading the operation were the Dragon Elder and the head of the Landing Troops, marking an unprecedented scale with far-reaching implications. Finally, after the large-scale rampage of the Terrorist in the Large Magellanic Cloud, the public received a somewhat satisfactory explanation.
This was Jufeng's first experience as an undercover agent, and it had not lasted long—only about two months. Judging by the results, it was bound to be extremely successful—if Yang Chou was still alive.
Jufeng arrived at the temporary headquarters of the Cosmic Police on this planet, a rather imposing spacecraft that had clearly been modified. Its comfortable interior contrasted sharply with its fully armed exterior, rivaling even that of a mothership.
Before reporting to the Dragon Elder, Jufeng was hurriedly greeted by an old acquaintance, Gong Changsheng. However, judging by his expression, he did not seem pleased to see Jufeng; rather, he appeared to harbor an inexplicable sense of blame and concern.
Gong Changsheng pulled Jufeng aside, glancing around to ensure no one was listening, and spoke urgently, "I heard you killed Yang Chou—was it intentional?"
Jufeng nodded lightly and replied, "I did kill him; it was for a friend's revenge."
Seeing Jufeng admit it, Gong Changsheng's face turned anxious and distressed. He scolded, "You are truly foolish! He was the leader of the Terrorist; he likely held important information. How could you—how could you just kill him so casually?"
Jufeng understood that Gong Changsheng was considering the issue from a broader perspective and was not wrong in his assessment. However, he also did not believe there was anything wrong with his actions. If it weren't for Chen Tan Hua, how could he have transmitted information? How could he have gained Yang Chou's trust after only suffering minor injuries at first?
Both were correct in their own ways; they simply arrived at different conclusions when placed together. Yet Jufeng did not care; he had no intention of defending himself because some matters could not be resolved merely through words.
Jufeng chuckled lightly and said to Gong Changsheng, "Steward, thank you for your concern. Without my friend's help, you wouldn't have achieved such results so quickly. I can't go back on my word. There are reasons behind my actions; I believe the Dragon Elder will understand."
Seeing Jufeng still able to laugh heartily at this moment left Gong Changsheng speechless. Ultimately, he let out a heavy sigh and allowed Jufeng to proceed to report to the Dragon Elder.
Under the guidance of a Female Officer, Jufeng navigated through twists and turns until he arrived at the room of the two top leaders. Perhaps aware of Jufeng's identity, the Female Officer looked at him with great shyness and bashfulness, much like a girl in her blooming years encountering her long-cherished crush from another class.
The Female Officer lowered her head slightly and gestured for him to enter. Jufeng politely nodded in thanks, causing her delicate features to blush even deeper.
After softly knocking on the door and receiving permission to enter, Jufeng found only two people in the spacious room—two elderly men—which made it feel somewhat empty. He walked slowly to stand beside the Dragon Elder in silence while watching the two elders calmly engaged in a game of chess. The Exotic Ivory Purple Jade pieces were being manipulated leisurely in their hands; they seemed utterly relaxed, far from resembling commanders directing combat on the front lines.
Jufeng silently nodded to himself; after all these years of historical ups and downs, only those who had experienced such time could naturally exude this kind of nonchalance as if playing music atop a city wall while enemies approached.
Jufeng had no interest in playing chess; he merely glanced at it before shifting his gaze elsewhere. The room's decor appeared meticulously chosen; everything seemed plain yet extraordinary when combined together. None of it was extravagant, but each piece bore signs of age that suited the needs of the elderly men perfectly.
The elderly man engaged in the game subtly lifted his head and glanced at Jufeng. Jufeng, keenly aware of the gaze, politely smiled and nodded in greeting. However, to his surprise, the old man huffed coldly and turned his head away.
“Ha ha! With this move, you’ve lost!”
Suddenly, the Dragon Elder across from him burst into loud laughter, startling both Jufeng and the old man. The elder stared incredulously at the chessboard, thinking that he had clearly been in a favorable position just moments ago; how could he have lost so suddenly?
After observing for a while, the elder suddenly realized and exclaimed, “Old Dragon Head, do you have no shame? How dare you steal my pieces! This game doesn’t count; you’re just being unreasonable!”
Upon hearing this, the Dragon Elder’s expression darkened with displeasure. “Can you stop acting like an elder? Which eye saw me move your pieces? Huh? They’re right here! You’re the one being unreasonable; every time you refuse to admit defeat! I’m done with this; these pieces belong to me now!”
With that, the Dragon Elder pretended to snatch the pieces away. The elderly man would not allow it, and soon the two were arguing, leaving Jufeng awkwardly sidelined.
Jufeng had encountered many elderly individuals before—Chen Lao by Lake Hang City and several friends of Father Ju during his lifetime—each with distinct personalities. Some were rough, others meticulous; some were deeply calculating while others were straightforward. Yet, he had rarely met someone as… “childish” as the Dragon Elder. Even more peculiar was that there was another similar figure accompanying him, both holding remarkably high ranks in this universe.
After a lengthy dispute with no resolution in sight, it was Jufeng ’s light cough that finally interrupted their nonsensical bickering.
“Ahem! Well, Dragon Elder, and this esteemed… gentleman, I happen to have a set of ivory Amethyst chess pieces at home. When I have time, I’ll bring them for both of you; there’s no need to fight over it.”
The elderly man scoffed dismissively and shouted back, “Do you think I’m short on money? Can’t I afford a set of chess pieces?”
Jufeng felt embarrassed upon hearing this. He realized he had been somewhat reckless; two powerful elders should not be lacking in funds. Just as he was about to defend himself, the next action of the elderly man left him utterly astonished and nearly shattered his worldview.
After scoffing again, the elder suddenly flung his hand out. The Dragon Elder was caught off guard as he snatched the chessboard away, causing two pieces to fall.
“Isn’t it just a broken chess set? If you want it, take it! But don’t forget that you owe me an ivory Amethyst chess set; you better bring it quickly! If you’re late, I won’t let you off easily!”
After finishing his statement, the elder subtly winked at the Dragon Elder, but this did not escape Jufeng ’s notice. Suddenly feeling a chill run down his spine—was he being deceived?
The elder stood up and stretched his back after sitting for too long. After loosening up his muscles, he continued speaking to Jufeng: “I heard your lover is the captain of Landing Troops’ 521st squadron. You should break things off with her; there’s a vacancy for a Captain in Team 007. Just let her hold that title for now; visit her when you have time.”
Jufeng was left in a state of shock as the old man strode away, leaving space for the two remaining individuals.
Romain was completely bewildered. Wasn't the old man supposed to criticize him for his negligence? Wasn't he supposed to have to plead his case to earn the goodwill of the two prominent figures? How had it ended up like this? Romain pinched his thigh, hissing in pain. This wasn’t a dream!
Seeing Romain standing there motionless, the Dragon Elder couldn't help but chuckle. "Don't think too much about it. That old man is quite cunning; he sees that I have someone to rely on now. This is just a blatant attempt to undermine you. But don't worry, I believe you won't be under your wife's thumb forever; you'll be able to take charge in the future!"
The Dragon Elder's words did not clear Romain's confusion; instead, they deepened it. However, the elder didn’t give Romain much time to ponder and abruptly shifted to the main topic.
"Now, what news have you gotten from Yang Chou?"
Upon hearing the Dragon Elder inquire about his business, Romain quickly pushed aside his distracting thoughts and responded earnestly.
Instead of directly answering the Dragon Elder's question, he cautiously asked, "Dragon Elder, you don't blame me for killing Yang Chou, do you?"
At this, the Dragon Elder immediately puffed out his cheeks and glared, exclaiming, "Why bring it up if I didn't? What you did was wrong! You had accomplished something significant and were supposed to be rewarded, but because you killed Yang Chou, that's all gone now. It really infuriates me; you're not making any progress!"
Hearing this, Romain finally let out a sigh of relief. Rewards were trivial to him; what mattered was that he hadn’t implicated himself or his friends—that was a good outcome.
Indeed, the Dragon Elder was more open-minded than Gong Changsheng.
With some peace of mind, Romain felt more relaxed as he answered, but the weight of the Dragon Elder's question suddenly made his mood heavy again. He spoke in a low tone, "I know where the Terrorist's Arms Factory is."
The Dragon Elder's admiration for Romain's abilities grew upon hearing this. Even though they had captured another leader of the Terrorists, Flower Boss, it was difficult to extract valuable information from him. The military operated differently from intelligence agencies; their methods were usually straightforward.
"Quickly, don’t keep me in suspense," urged the Dragon Elder.
Romain involuntarily furrowed his brows and said heavily, "It's on Earth."
The Dragon Elder was taken aback by this revelation. This changed everything; ideally, an Arms Factory should be built on an unknown planet for safety. Why would the Terrorists choose Earth? Then it struck him—he couldn't help but admire the Terrorists' cunning strategy. Earth was a primitive planet that had gradually moved away from large-scale manufacturing, and its security checks were relatively lax. No one would suspect anything there, giving the Terrorists an opportunity to exploit.
The Dragon Elder pondered for a moment before continuing, "Do you have a specific location?"
Jufeng shook his head, expressing regret. "The terrorists have clear divisions of labor and simple communication among themselves, and they are all on guard against each other. So aside from those responsible for transportation and construction, the rest of the teams are unaware."
The Dragon Elder had been investigating the terrorist incidents for quite some time and was well aware of their cunning nature. The fact that Jufeng had managed to gather some information was already a significant achievement.
With the scope of Earth in mind, this was extremely unfavorable news for the terrorists. The Dragon Elder asked, "What do you think we should do about this?"
Whenever he was with Jufeng, the Dragon Elder liked to ask him questions. Jufeng thought for a moment; he couldn't evade the question and had to respond. "I believe that once the terrorists on Earth receive news from here, they will likely remain inactive for a while, observing whether there are any unusual movements on Earth. If there aren't any, they will trust that you—no, that we—haven't obtained any information about them on Earth and will continue their operations. This gives us a chance to trace them back and eliminate them completely."
Jufeng's analysis made sense and was precisely the answer the Dragon Elder sought. He nodded casually before shifting the conversation from the terrorists to Jufeng himself, asking, "This achievement is yours; it's different from before. What do you want?"
Jufeng truly did not care much about rewards, but at this moment, he had a request for the Dragon Elder. He said, "I would like to ask you to exonerate one terrorist. His contributions in this matter are no less than mine. If I can make amends, it should be enough for him to be granted bail. I am willing to vouch for him."
The Dragon Elder contemplated this in his mind for a moment before slowly responding, "You must understand that we operate under the law. What kind of punishment a terrorist deserves is determined by the court. As the leader of the Ironclad Troops, should I set such a precedent?"
Jufeng bowed his head in silence and replied, "There are many ways to approach this; methods can be explored. Although he has blood on his hands, he has saved as many lives as he has taken. I do not wish to discuss morality or legality with you; I simply believe from my heart that he can be released."
Jufeng's words were somewhat forceful. The Dragon Elder stared intently at him for a long time without speaking.
After what felt like an eternity, the Dragon Elder finally asked calmly, "If I do not release him, what will you do?"
Jufeng pondered for a long while before uttering four words: "I will break him out."
Upon hearing this, the Dragon Elder couldn't help but burst into laughter. Jufeng was indeed a stubborn person; this wild stallion had been forcibly pulled into his ranks. Was such an approach truly right?
After some time had passed and the laughter subsided, the Dragon Elder murmured, "You've been away from Earth for quite some time now; it’s about time you returned. Take your brothers and go back."
Jufeng couldn't help but smile bitterly at these words. It seemed that trying to extricate himself from the terrorists was indeed more difficult than climbing a mountain. The Dragon Elder brought up this topic just as he was about to release someone, leaving Jufeng with no way to refuse.
Jufeng and Dragon Elder discussed some general matters for the future, establishing a somewhat unclear strategic deployment in a brief moment.
After leaving the spacecraft, Gong Changsheng was still waiting outside. Jufeng and Gong Changsheng went over a few more things, and with Jufeng's assurance, Gong Changsheng finally felt relieved.
After bidding farewell to the Cosmic Police, Jufeng returned to where Hua Cheng and Vera were. Before long, they brought Chen Tan Hua back with them. When Chen Tan Hua saw Jufeng, he did not express much gratitude; he simply followed quietly behind the others, his presence not particularly strong.
However, no one could ignore his existence because a Red-Class Mecha Pilot is always the center of attention, no matter where they are.
"I plan to form a Hurricane Squad. If you're willing, you can join us. These are the members; you know them all, so there’s no need to feel awkward."
Chen Tan Hua silently nodded, a gentle smile returning to his face. At that moment, the smile seemed genuinely heartfelt.
Since there were still tasks at hand and the Cosmic Police would not be leaving anytime soon, they requested a spacecraft and two mechas and quickly departed. However, their destinations were different: Chen Tan Hua and Hua Cheng returned to the headquarters of Magellanic Star's Zongheng Express Company, while Jufeng and Vera headed to another planet, the home planet of Sisi.
