Fifty mechs, that was no small scale operation. Yet, the Terrorists had whimsically built their base deep in the forest. They had cleared trees and constructed simple structures within a radius of several dozen meters, leaving the tops exposed.
Fides led Jufeng and Hua Cheng to this place, proudly showcasing their construction as if he were an architect. However, everyone’s focus was not on the buildings but rather on the stored goods inside.
There were over a hundred subordinates responsible for guarding this area, who also lived in the open warehouse. The makeshift houses had roofs, as the Terrorists always took good care of their own.
At night, these hundred men took turns guarding the perimeter. When Jufeng and his group arrived, they found the person in charge of the guards watching over the entrance. Perhaps he had received prior notice from above, as he opened the warehouse door without much ado.
According to Fides’ rules, their organization had a strict hierarchy; each person had their own responsibilities that did not interfere with one another, and there were no overlapping authorities—all were under the boss's jurisdiction.
Once the warehouse door was opened, everyone was stunned by the sight before them. It was hard to imagine how they possessed such strength to store nearly a hundred mechs here. Even the largest arms dealer on Earth would hesitate to guarantee that they could produce so many equipped mechs at once.
Jufeng looked at Fides and revealed an approving smile—a rare sight for someone who held himself in such high regard. Fides beamed with pride in response.
As for Hua Cheng and his companions, they appeared cheerful on the surface, but internally they had already imagined tearing Fides apart countless times. They were serious Cosmic Police officers who had spent years battling against the Terrorists and had developed a deep-seated hatred for them. Seeing these mechs made them think about how many innocent civilians would suffer if these weapons fell into the wrong hands—how many lives would be lost, how many families shattered, how many people displaced.
Thus, they loathed Fides to the core and wished they could end him right then and there.
In his heart, Jufeng thought to Fides, whose face was all smiles: “Back on Pirate Planet, you barely escaped; now your time is up, and I won’t miss this chance.”
Jufeng was highly skilled and knowledgeable; he casually glanced around before asking Fides several questions that impressed him. Fides had once been the captain of Azure Dragon Monk's Mecha Squad and was naturally very familiar with mechs. Meeting someone who understood him in a foreign land felt like encountering a worthy opponent in chess—an inevitable mutual respect formed between them.
“Brother Zhang, it seems you know quite a bit about mechs. You must be quite an expert; I wonder what level you’re at?”
Mechs were categorized into four ranks: Red, Blue, Green, and Purple, each with three tiers. Jufeng had long since reached the highest level where only a few resided; it was particularly lonely there. If he revealed this information, Fides might think he was joking—something he wouldn’t take lightly.
“Blue Rank Upper Level,” Jufeng said with a smug smile that radiated arrogance.
Ning Pangzi couldn’t help but murmur to himself upon hearing this: Isn’t that my rank? Why is Brother Jufeng rubbing it in?
Upon hearing this, Fides's expression of reverence diminished significantly. He thought to himself that this was merely a person who talked big, just a Blue Rank Upper Level at best.
He himself had already reached the Azure Level. Although he had not made any progress in a while, he was still one rank higher than Jufeng's Azure Rank.
He felt the need to maintain a facade, so he hurriedly offered some insincere compliments. Jufeng accepted them without concern for their authenticity.
After casually browsing through the details, Jufeng approved the batch of weapons. The next step was to prepare the deposit—first pay the deposit, then ship the goods. Once everything arrived, the remaining balance would be settled.
After a lengthy negotiation that morning, Jufeng finally compromised and agreed to Fides's unreasonable demand for a fifty percent deposit. Generally speaking, deposits are usually lower than half, but Fides insisted repeatedly, leaving him no choice.
These goods had their price, and money could not be carried around easily. After calculating half of the agreed price, Fides handed Jufeng a phone.
Once the call was connected, a Terrorist monitored various data nearby, such as whether anyone was eavesdropping and the location of the call. Jufeng coldly observed everything, indicating that he did not care.
And indeed, he had no reason to care; the military represented global power. If they could not disguise their activities well enough to evade detection by the Terrorists, it only meant that these Terrorists were already outmatched.
In reality, they were just ordinary Terrorists; otherwise, they wouldn't have been cornered by the Cosmic Police to this extent.
Jufeng completed the call and soon hung up. Not long after, Fides received a phone call.
Hearing the voice on the other end made Fides smile broadly. It seemed they were desperate for money. However, Jufeng felt pity for him deep down; those numbers were merely virtual currency disguised by the military's United Bank.
They were truly just simple numbers with no other significance.
After confirming everything, Fides joyfully threw his arms around Jufeng's shoulders, momentarily forgetting about his troubles from last night because his joy was overwhelming.
Joy often leads to sorrow—a law of nature—so Jufeng increasingly felt sympathy for him.
Just when Fides thought everything was going smoothly, a sudden roar of an airplane filled the air, followed by the rapid firing of machine guns.
Everyone present was battle-hardened, having experienced countless conflicts. The first instinct upon hearing the sounds was to take cover and then retaliate. Unfortunately, the plane arrived too quickly, and the gunfire was too abrupt; in an instant, countless terrorists fell, creating a scene of utter carnage.
Fortunately, Fides and Jufeng were very close to the warehouse entrance, allowing them to duck inside at the first opportunity.
Listening to the screams and explosions outside, Fides's expression darkened immediately.
It was clear that this was a setup.
Among those present, Fides's gaze quickly turned to Jufeng, as this transaction had primarily involved him. If there were any mistakes, it was most likely due to Zhang Feng.
With that thought in mind, he swung a fist at Jufeng. Caught off guard, Romain was struck heavily to the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Fides was relentless, poised to continue his assault and finish Romain off with punches and kicks. However, just then, Transform appeared from the side and stopped Fides.
This intermediary broker adhered to the principle of resolving conflicts peacefully and urged, "There’s no evidence yet; don’t turn on each other! Let’s find out what happened first."
Hua Cheng's words were astute; he immediately aligned himself with Fides's group and temporarily halted the conflict between the two men, showcasing his cleverness.
Fides's anger was akin to storm clouds gathering over the sea before a tempest. He shot a glance at Hua Cheng before turning his attention back to Jufeng, eager to hear what he had to say.
Romain climbed back to his feet and wiped the blood from his mouth with his arm, glaring fiercely at both Hua Cheng and Fides.
He had certainly heard Hua Cheng's words, which added a layer of estrangement to his gaze directed at Hua Cheng. Seizing this moment, Hua Cheng avoided Romain's eyes, not daring to meet his stare.
Meanwhile, Chen Long and Ning the Fatty observed from the side, feeling deep admiration for both individuals. Even in such an urgent situation, they were attentive to every minute detail—truly serious people.
Jufeng turned to Fides, and the first words out of his mouth were not a defense but a sharp insult.
“Fool!”
The words struck like a hammer, resonating powerfully. Fides was taken aback, clearly not expecting Jufeng to not only refuse to defend himself but to further provoke him.
Before he could react, Jufeng continued in rapid succession, “What was that phone call about? Did my money not arrive? If I had betrayed you, why would I risk that amount of money? Yes, I am wealthy, but I’m not bored enough to act so foolishly. Use your pig-like brain and think it through.”
Fides paused, suddenly enlightened. Of course, Zhang Feng's money had already been confirmed as received; the bank would never lie. How could he be an undercover agent while also risking such a large sum? That would be sheer madness!
Fides pondered for a moment, and then a flash of insight crossed his mind as he looked toward Hua Cheng.
