Jufeng looked at the two awkward individuals on the floor and, with a sly smile, led Yang Kan out of the bedroom. Although he claimed he didn't want to be a third wheel, it was more important to ensure that there were no other people around, lest they let their guard down.
Fortunately, after a quick survey of the area, Jufeng confirmed that only the woman lived here. He then made sure Yang Kan was comfortable in the living room and, without knowing where he had found it, used a very thin belt to tie him up securely.
After all the running around, they were both exhausted; resting was the immediate priority.
In the bedroom, Chen Tan Hua was on top of the woman dressed in a white shirt and black leather skirt. At this point, his glasses had been removed, revealing a look of fatigue on his face.
They exchanged silent glances, both shocked beyond belief. There could hardly be a more coincidental situation than this—encountering each other twice in one night. It truly seemed to fulfill Jufeng's words about being granted a fateful connection.
The first rays of morning sunlight broke through the clouds and streamed into the room, reflecting off the smooth floor and illuminating Chen Tan Hua and the woman's faces, shattering the silence. It was then that Chen Tan Hua realized his position was rather inappropriate and hurriedly stood up.
"Uh... what a coincidence! I didn't expect to just knock on a door and end up at your place."
As Chen Tan Hua watched the woman slowly rise from the floor, he sought a topic to ease his embarrassment but found it only made things more awkward.
If they had merely helped each other out with some gifts, it would have been fine. However, considering that they had been entangled in bed just hours earlier, remnants of another person's kiss might still linger on their lips. Meeting again was bound to be somewhat shy.
However, the woman seemed to handle this better than Chen Tan Hua. She calmly adjusted her clothing, her emotions recovering from the earlier awkwardness.
"Is this your way of knocking? Quite unique."
Chen Tan Hua watched as she walked over to the window and pulled back the curtains, allowing even more brilliant morning light to flood in. He realized there was a flaw in his words and felt even more embarrassed.
During their earlier encounter, she had quietly connected several clues in her mind and had likely guessed why Chen Tan Hua and Jufeng had suddenly appeared here with that person.
Using big data at the hotel, she had indeed found photos of Yang Kan and traces related to Wolf Fang Gang. At that moment, she understood that the man she had been assigned to for the night was not who he seemed. Now seeing him kidnapped in those photos naturally led her to imagine some kind of grudge or financial issue involved. If they weren't being pursued by someone, they certainly wouldn't have come rushing to her place.
Despite some concerns lingering in her mind—after all, there were many desperate individuals these days—seeing Chen Tan Hua's demeanor eased her worries somewhat.
"I'm planning to change clothes now. Are you going to stay here?"
After the woman left the hotel, she spent the night at a bar with a few friends until deep into the night. After escorting two of her drunken friends home, she finally returned to her own place. She didn't even have time to change out of her clothes before the earlier incident occurred.
Chen Tan Hua let out a soft "oh" and turned to leave, but just as he reached the door, he turned back around. Taking a deep breath, he tried to appear less awkward and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, but I need to make sure you're always in my sight."
The woman was momentarily confused but quickly understood his meaning. If she called the police or sent out a message, their location would be exposed, and those pursuing them would find out. So naturally, he had to keep an eye on her at all times.
She thought for a moment; after all, they had already done the most intimate things between men and women. This part of her body was something this man had never seen before, so she might as well change in front of him. After being constrained by professional attire all night, she felt exhausted and didn't care much anymore.
Without hesitation, she began changing clothes in front of Chen Tan Hua. He watched as her graceful figure was once again revealed to him, and his throat inexplicably felt dry.

On the sofa in the living room, Yang Kan glared at Jufeng, who was leaning against the back of the couch, as if he could shoot fire from his eyes. When Chen Tan Hua burst through the window, he realized he had fallen victim to a scheme orchestrated by these two people. Unfortunately, he had discovered it too late; there was no remedy for regret in this world.
What puzzled him was who exactly had kidnapped him. Were they hired by his two sworn enemies' gang, or were they simply desperate criminals seeking money?
Unable to figure it out on his own, Yang Kan decided to ask. He didn't care whether Jufeng was tired; after all, he was still carrying him on his back. Though it was uncomfortable, his spirits remained high.
"Hey, Jufeng, who are you guys? If it's about money, let's make a straightforward deal; if those two bastards hired you to kill me, how much did they offer? I'll pay you double."
Yang Kan believed that there was no problem in this world that couldn't be solved with money. Therefore, he immediately laid out his bargaining chip—if one had their life, they would naturally have money; survival came first.
However, he could never have imagined that Jufeng's wealth far surpassed his own by countless multiples. If Romain's fortune were an iceberg, Yang Kan's would barely be a fraction of it.
Jufeng smiled and said, "Your money can't save your life now. If you're smart enough to recall how you became wealthy, I might spare your life."
Become wealthy? Yang Kan suddenly remembered the question Romain had asked him while drinking and considered a possibility that made him turn pale with shock.
"You’re investigating Huankezhao?"
Jufeng smiled knowingly, not answering, yet it felt more like a response.
Seeing this, Yang Kan shook his head in disbelief and said, "You must be crazy. Don't you know who is in charge of the Large Magellanic Cloud now? With Universal Creation involved, I can't think of anyone but a madman who would do something so foolish."
Jufeng shook his head, stood up, and walked in front of Yang Kan, delivering a punch to his abdomen. The latter doubled over in pain, resembling a boiled lobster.
"Perhaps some pain will help you wake up. Your life is now in the hands of a madman. If you refuse to cooperate and recall what you need to, I guarantee you won't have the chance to see the sun again."
Jufeng wasn't skilled at threats, so he opted for a more straightforward approach, which proved effective. Yang Kan became less inclined to indulge in idle matters and began to answer Jufeng's questions seriously.
After a while, Chen Tan Hua and a woman dressed in casual homewear entered the living room. Yang Kan had nearly finished answering Jufeng's brief questions. The sunlight pouring into the living room was bright, yet it somehow made everyone feel inexplicably hungry.
Jufeng slowly took out an ID badge that read "Delta Internet Holdings, Team Leader of Administrative Group 2, Wu Yi." With a playful smile, he said, "Ms. Wu Yi, considering my friend spent an entire night with you, would you be willing to make us breakfast?"
Wu Yi had gone shopping with Chen Tan Hua the previous afternoon and didn't feel particularly grateful for anything. However, after Jufeng's remark, she agreed, treating it as settling an unspoken debt.
With a flicker of her beautiful eyes, she shot Jufeng a glare before snatching back her badge and heading toward the bathroom.
Chen Tan Hua followed closely behind her.
In the living room, Jufeng heard what sounded like a faint argument coming from inside and couldn't help but chuckle to himself. He thought about how Chen Tan Hua usually appeared fearless but was now acting timid.
About a quarter of an hour later, Wu Yi and Chen Tan Hua emerged from the bathroom. Wu Yi's hair was damp, clearly indicating she had just taken a shower.
It was likely that many girls had experienced having a man watching them while bathing.
Just then, the doorbell rang suddenly, causing everyone in the room to jump.
Jufeng glanced at Chen Tan Hua before quickly taking Yang Kan outside to hide in a corner by the window. It was dawn, and there were hardly any pedestrians outside, so they weren't worried about being seen.
Chen Tan Hua looked at Wu Yi, who also turned to him. After a moment of contemplation, Chen Tan Hua chose to step outside alone, placing his trust in Wu Yi.
Wu Yi, with her damp hair, walked slowly to the door. Peering through the peephole, she saw unfamiliar faces and took a deep breath before opening the door.
When the door swung open, two police officers in uniform stood before her. They gazed at the sweet-looking Wu Yi, her wet hair cascading over her shoulders like a fairy tale princess, and couldn't help but swallow hard.
Of course, they didn't forget their purpose.
"Good evening, ma'am. This is a search warrant. We need to enter your room to look for these two individuals."
With that, the officers produced two photographs that had just been generated by a computer—indeed, they were images of Jufeng and Chen Tan Hua.
