The sky of the Magellanic Star was a deep blue, the kind that made the white clouds appear immaculate, reminiscent of a girl with a crooked braid gazing at cotton candy in her hands.
However, today the sky was dotted with many spots, stars scattered everywhere, obscuring the light and blocking the warmth that should belong to the grasslands, hills, and forests.
"Boom!" A resounding sound erupted in the azure expanse, igniting a chase filled with life-and-death urgency and adrenaline.
The vastness of the empty space created an immense battlefield, boundless and desolate. If it weren't for the system connecting them, one could hardly distinguish friend from foe.
In this expansive battlefield, it was difficult to make a mark, so the initial confrontation began with a barrage of shells from Shell.
This was a war long in the making. Jufeng and his group were waiting for this moment at dawn, while Shangguan Wangyu's side was equally determined to hold their ground. At the peak of convergence, how could there not be fierce competition among heroes?
Thus, at the very beginning, Jufeng's side had already prepared by unloading many defensive weapons from their mechs and removing unnecessary equipment, leaving only powerful bombs to unleash wildly into the sky.
They acted this way, and naturally, their opponents did too. Cao Ke watched the scenes on the screen from the underground base of the Suihuan Army and issued the first command.
"First squadron set up a net, second squadron provide cover."
With Cao Ke's order, dozens of mechs swiftly leaped into the sky and spread outwards. Once they reached a certain altitude, they began firing shells into the air.
Simultaneously, dozens of shells converged in midair before bursting forth.
The fireworks that followed were beautiful and dazzling. A circle of deep purple light radiated from the point of explosion and gradually spread outwards, its reach unknown for thousands of miles.
"Ding!" A faint sound echoed in midair, resonating through every mech. The enemy let out a quiet sigh of relief, but Jufeng's group felt their spirits plummet to rock bottom.
The so-called net is a network of Electromagnetic Interference Waves. If a mech traverses through it, the system will experience paralysis for two minutes. In other words, if a mech recklessly crosses this layer of net, it will become like a butterfly with broken wings, swaying and falling.
Unexpectedly, Cao Ke's subordinates were so skilled that even while ascending at the same time, they could still lay down the net first, blocking the escape of Jufeng and his group.
However, Jufeng's team was not unprepared for this.
The net was made of Electromagnetic Interference Waves; as long as enough concentrated force was applied at one point, it could create a flaw in the net, causing the entire network to collapse on its own.
But breaking through this obstruction required at least twenty mechs to simultaneously break through at one point, so Jufeng and his companions still had a heavy burden ahead.
"Action!"
At Jufeng's command, over ten mechs flew towards the enemy group simultaneously, including elites from Crimson Rank and Tenth Rank, as well as some of Liu Gulang's subordinates from Azure Level.
Everyone moved with lightning speed. In an instant, Jufeng and Civilization Vera captured a prisoner amidst the enemy ranks and gathered together.
Dozens of Liu Gulang's brothers fought desperately to cover them as time ticked away.
In just one minute, everyone who had gone out captured a prisoner—an incapacitated captive who would soon become one of the twenty mechs breaking through.
However, after counting, they still lacked five. Each mech in the air could only carry one additional mech; if they tried to carry two, they would crash.
But if there weren't enough mechs, the efforts of these ten or so would be in vain.
Countless Shells flew freely through the air, each following its own trajectory. Some would carve a path before plummeting to the ground, kicking up clouds of dust and dirt.
Many would encounter other Shells in midair, colliding in a tragic dance that transformed them into beautiful fireworks.
Others would successfully, or by chance, strike their target mechs, igniting a cascade of burning metal that fell like a volcanic eruption.
Falling, still falling.
Jufeng watched as mechs continued to descend, some enemies and some allies, his expression growing solemn.
Then he suddenly soared back toward the Mecha Group, wielding his Thermal Sword, swiftly severing one mech and returning with the upper half of its intact system.
The onlookers witnessed Jufeng's actions and soon mechs began to break away from the battle group, emulating him and returning once more.
Vera, Civilization, Tian Feng, and Lu Hongyu.
Each carried two complete systems, just enough for twenty in total.
Yet everyone hovered in the air, feeling a sense of unease and uncertainty. Although the severed mechs had relatively intact systems, they were still incomplete.
Just as Jufeng hesitated, five mechs suddenly shot out from Liu Gulang's Mecha Group, heading straight for a specific point in the net.
There were no words; even when Liu Gulang attempted to contact them, they had already shut off communications.
Closing represented an attitude, a resolute attitude.
Jufeng looked at the five mechs retreating into the distance, and his heart sank suddenly, feeling a wave of discomfort wash over him.
These brothers were innocent; they had nothing to do with this conflict, nothing to do with the struggle taking place in mid-air.
Yet, they were about to sacrifice their precious lives for him.
Two minutes of paralysis was enough to shatter everyone into pieces, leaving not even a whole corpse behind.
However, the five had already taken off. If Jufeng hesitated again, their sacrifice would become meaningless.
So he gritted his teeth and suddenly soared higher, flying upwards.
Everyone followed suit.
At the moment when the five mechs were about to collide with the net, those who followed threw their captives toward the focal point.
More than twenty mechs charged fiercely toward the net.
Then, at the instant of impact with the net, miraculously defying even the laws of motion as if inertia did not exist, they paused in mid-air for a second.
Then in the next second, they all began to fall.
Once again, they were falling.
With another "ding," the dark purple net vanished completely.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, everyone accelerated their flight, suddenly breaking through the original height of the net, about to shake off their pursuers, and then disappearing into the expanse of the Magellanic Star.
Even Liu Gulang's Brothers had begun to prepare to scatter in all directions, planning to sneak back into the Magellanic Star as if nothing had happened.
But at that moment, a mech suddenly detached from the Mecha Group and began to plummet downward.
This was not a forced descent; it was a voluntary, rapid dive.
