In the vast universe, the fleet drifted aimlessly through the starry expanse. It seemed to lack purpose, but in reality, its objective was quite clear.
Cao Ke had not engaged in battle since the Magellan Star War. Although he had encountered some minor foes along the way, they were not worthy of his attention. More importantly, he needed time to process the aftermath of his fight with Chen Ziping.
Yes, he had won. If it weren't for the sudden emergence of a Mid-Level Red Rank two years ago, he would have been the sole hero standing at the pinnacle of this cosmos.
However, victory in the hands of the White Horse War God was not something easily attained or taken lightly.
Today, his hand had only just regained some sensation; the blisters on his palm were no longer as painful, and his strength had returned to its peak.
It had been a week since that battle.
Dressed casually, Cao Ke strolled into the command room of the battleship. He had left most of his forces on a desolate planet, taking this opportunity to execute his next plan while enjoying a moment of leisure.
His subordinates were two Masters, both Red-Class Mecha Pilots. Ever since they defeated Chen Ziping, they felt that Cao Ke's entire demeanor had transformed, becoming increasingly formidable and intimidating. Despite his casual attire and lack of intention to target anyone specifically, his presence made the atmosphere feel unnaturally tense.
This was the deterrent power of a Mid-Level Red Rank; this was the advantage of standing at the top.
"What is our current position?" Cao Ke asked lazily as he settled into a comfortable chair and picked up a cup of coffee.
One of his subordinates opened a star map and pointed out one of many marked red dots. The map suddenly zoomed in, revealing an image identical to that displayed on the large screen before them.
"This is within the defense range of the Eleventh Army; their base is not far ahead."
Cao Ke studied the enlarged star map in silence for a moment before saying, "You should have no problem taking it down."
Although the atmosphere was calm and light, those listening nearby felt a chill of fear. It was clearly a question, yet they sensed that answering negatively could lead to dire consequences.
"Rest assured, General, there won't be any problems."
Cao Ke savored the coffee in his hand, his thoughts far from the battle about to commence. After a week of recovery, he was already itching with anticipation for a showdown against the rising star who was gradually catching up to him.
Cao Ke murmured, "Jufeng, I suppose you should be back in the Magellan Star System by now. I hope Shangguan's blow hasn't affected your performance too much. I've already sent out the challenge; now I await your response."
Jufeng and Ikeda Kenji regrouped and launched an attack on a Suihuan Army unit at the border. The enemy's strength was not formidable, so the battle unfolded without any suspense. The anticipated training of their forces did not go as thoroughly as planned.
However, just as they were shifting their focus to the next target, news arrived from within the Magellan Star System—Cao Ke had finally revealed his true intentions.
Ikeda Kenji looked at the incoming message and said to Jufeng, "It seems he has issued a challenge to you."
The outcome of that battle had been devastating; the Eleventh Army was nearly annihilated. Having defeated the White Horse War God, Cao Ke once again took to the field, ruthlessly decimating the Eleventh Army and directly decapitating their command.
Five observed the battle report with a furrowed brow. He habitually analyzed opponents from a killer's perspective and quickly discerned deeper implications.
"To recover to peak condition in just one week—this person is quite troublesome."
Jufeng nodded and added gravely, "It’s likely more than that. To defeat Chen Ziping in chaotic combat suggests there are deeper layers to his mecha skills. Life-and-death battles can truly unleash potential; it’s possible he’s beginning to touch the edge of greatness."
Hearing this, Five and Politeness exchanged uneasy glances. They had studied mechas for over two years and understood the difficulty of advancement, especially beyond Crimson Rank.
Greatness? Could someone really reach the pinnacle of Crimson Rank Upper Tier?
Yet after Jufeng finished speaking, he suddenly broke into a hearty laugh, filled with enthusiasm and fighting spirit.
"Isn't this better? I think you all have been too long without experiencing the days of teetering on the edge of life and death."
Hearing this, a faint smile crept onto his lips. He looked at Wu and said, "I'm not that much of a pervert; I still want to keep my life and enjoy the company of beautiful women."
Though he said that, anyone could see his excitement. Jufeng was right; for them, being too leisurely would only lead to trouble.
Ikeda Kenji was also inspired by their enthusiasm. "Well then, since someone has thrown down the gauntlet, how can we shy away from battle? Let's go, Hurricane Army, and meet them head-on."
After their first appearance, the Hurricane Army ventured deep into the Magellan Star System. Everyone was filled with anticipation for the upcoming confrontation with one of the five Dragon Head Armies, the Zhongzheng Army, which had roamed the Cosmos for quite some time.
Meanwhile, on the other side at the Universal Manufacturing Headquarters in the Magellanic Star, Chuyang had been there for half a month. The initial fear had gradually faded, and her face began to show a more rounded appearance.
Every now and then, Chuyang could take some time to enjoy the scenery of Huankezhao. As time passed, her opportunities to go out increased, allowing her to spend hours inside the buildings of Huankezhao.
The only thing that displeased Chuyang was having a man constantly overseeing her. It felt like wearing shackles; she couldn't truly attain freedom.
"Do you always have so much free time? Doesn't such a large enterprise need your management?"
As Chuyang grew more familiar with Shangguan Wangyu, their conversations became less like ice and fire but still lacked harmony.
Many things Shangguan Wangyu said were beyond her understanding.
Shangguan Wangyu looked at Chuyang's gradually fuller cheeks and smiled with delight. "The larger a business grows, the more one realizes that there are fewer things one can manage personally. In a sense, I am merely the spiritual symbol of Huankezhao; as long as I am here, it will run smoothly."
Chuyang disliked Shangguan Wangyu's self-assured manner of speaking. Of course, she never considered that her father sometimes spoke in a similar way, but she never found it bothersome.
Seeing that Chuyang was in a good mood today, Shangguan Wangyu continued, "You know, Jufeng is currently in the Magellan Star System and seems to have forgotten about you. Is this what you call a good father?"
Since the last time she saw Jufeng, Chuyang felt much more at ease, knowing that her father had always been there and had never truly left. However, when she suddenly heard Shangguan Wangyu speak, her expression flickered with uncertainty.
But after a moment, Chuyang understood the situation and said, "My father must have temporarily left me for the sake of all humanity. Unlike you, who doesn't seem to know what serious matters are, always just chattering beside me. Don't you feel embarrassed being such a man?"
There was one thing Chuyang kept to herself: there had once been someone who was always by her side, yet she still found him to be great.
Seeing Chuyang's reaction, Shangguan Wangyu realized that removing Jufeng from her heart would not be an easy task. It couldn't be rushed, so he decided to hold his tongue and not press further.
No one noticed a young man in a security uniform watching them from a nearby corner.
His gaze shifted thoughtfully.
