Longshu remained motionless, and with the heavy thud of two bodies hitting the ground, the nearby assassins and bodyguards sensed something was amiss.
They turned around to see Longshu, rigid with fear, and a shadow lurking behind him, completely concealed.
This revelation startled everyone, prompting several individuals to strategize a rescue for Longshu.
Sweat trickled down Longshu's cheeks, forming a small stream before beginning to drip.
"Don't kill me? We're all just working for someone else; there's no need for martyrdom. Let me go, and I'll ensure you can leave. What do you say?"
At that moment, Longshu couldn't think of a better plan and resorted to desperate persuasion, trying to pull himself back from the brink of death.
The shadow behind him scoffed coldly, retorting, "Is that how Cao Ke negotiated with you back then?"
Upon hearing this, Longshu realized that the other party had no intention of negotiating, and he felt his life slipping away.
When people are in despair, they can easily become angry. Longshu exclaimed in frustration, "Do you know how I feel? Pand Zhong sent me to infiltrate the Dragon Breaker Army; that has already ruined my future. I have no choice but to ally with the Suihuan Army. Am I just a pawn for others to manipulate?!"
Longshu appeared somewhat hysterical, his body starting to tremble with agitation. However, out of Tian Feng's sight, he was signaling to the few people in front of him.
The message was clear: when I suddenly dodge, you all open fire.
Just as the others began to understand Tong Bailong's intent, a gunshot rang out. Longshu's pupils dilated as a spray of blood erupted from his abdomen.
Seeing that Longshu was dead, his subordinates prepared to fire back, but suddenly they were met with intense gunfire from behind—gunshots that were not from their familiar comrades.
In the next moment, they lost consciousness.
"How is it?" Wenming asked with concern.
Tian Feng shook his head and said, "Let's hurry to support Brother Jufeng."
The Jufeng that Tian Feng mentioned was currently facing off against Cao Ke.
Gou Hongbo, along with Liu Xing, had already retreated from the other side. Liu Xing was too severely injured to participate in such a battle.
The remaining members of the Azure Wind Antelope were divided into two teams by Jufeng. One team was tasked with protecting Gou Hongbo and Liu Xing as they left, while the other assisted Wu and Shangguan Wangyu in negotiations.
Only Jufeng remained in the arena, confronting Cao Ke and his followers.
One sword and one person stood against the storm, resisting the relentless tide.
"Is this really meaningful? No matter how much you struggle, there's no way to escape this building. Surrounded by the Suihuan Army, and countless Mecha Squads waiting outside, do you think there's any point in fighting like this?"
Cao Ke spoke to Jufeng without mercy, believing that this battle had reached its peak. Jufeng's side had demonstrated enough valor and strength. Even Cao Ke couldn't help but be impressed; in terms of power, they had indeed reached the limits of what humanity could achieve.
But if they were truly invincible, then what was the purpose of mechs?
Jufeng remained unmoved by Cao Ke's words, simply standing there with his sword drawn.
Cao Ke sighed deeply, slowly taking a handgun from one of his subordinates. Without a second thought, he raised the gun and fired.
The bullet lodged into the wall as Jufeng vanished from sight.
"Chase him down; leave no survivors. That dying boy is enough to hold Chuyang back," Cao Ke ordered a pursuit, and everyone put away their cold weapons, drawing their handguns instead as they began a frenzied chase.
In today's conflict, only Jufeng and Liu Xing were allowed to live; everyone else could be killed—this was the bottom line set by Shangguan Wangyu.
Liu Xing was barely managing to leave under the protection of an injured person, but it was clear he couldn't go far; escape was impossible.
Cao Ke didn't want to prolong the situation with Jufeng any longer. Perhaps he wanted to give Jufeng a dignified death.
Gou Hongbo, with Liu Xing in tow and under Jufeng's forced cover, along with the selfless protection of several brothers, finally broke through the encirclement.
However, now they were surrounded by Huankezhao's men, armed and patrolling everywhere, guarding all critical points.
Holding the map that Jufeng had handed him, Gou Hongbo found a few concealed spots. Although they had temporarily found safety, it was not a long-term solution.
As they tried to escape through the windows, Gou Hongbo realized that all the windows were under Huankezhao's control. Outside, the atmosphere was tense and hostile; leaving was simply impossible.
Breathing heavily against the wall, Gou Hongbo was nearing his physical limits. But that wasn't the worst part; the most terrifying thing was that he saw no glimmer of hope ahead.
Liu Xing in his arms had lost consciousness. Internal injuries required time to heal, and it was likely that Liu Xing's organs were already bleeding. If they couldn't get out soon, time would run out, leading to certain death.
Gou Hongbo looked at Liu Xing's pale face intertwined with crimson hues and felt an indescribable pain in his heart.
Gou Hongbo gritted his teeth and silently vowed to himself that he would do everything possible to escape this hell on earth with Liu Xing.
Outside Huankezhao, although it was midnight, it was more bustling than during the day.
The reason for this commotion was simple: Huankezhao's headquarters had been ambushed. Although this wasn't the first time, it was the most sensational and prolonged incident yet.
The scene outside Huankezhao was grand; the Suihuan Army deployed countless elite soldiers to surround Huankezhao completely. Onlookers could only gaze from afar as lights from fire trucks, ambulances, and military vehicles flashed continuously.
People were being carried out from the Universal Building, mostly subordinates of Shangguan Wangyu, along with some other bodies placed aside.
The corpses were lined up neatly like A Squad at the entrance of the Universal Building. Those watching from a distance couldn't help but gasp in horror; many were too frightened to look further but still couldn't resist their curiosity and found themselves drawn to the sight.
A high-ranking official from the military was directing personnel in a frantic rescue operation. Ambulances were constantly leaving, rushing to treat those who could still be saved.
Inside one of the ambulances, two individuals lay side by side, both seemingly in a coma. Suddenly, one of them opened their eyes.
The person sat up, and to the astonishment of the surrounding medical staff, began throwing punches and kicks.
The driver in front was unaware of what was happening and continued to focus on the road, gradually distancing from the Universal Building.
Dressed in security attire from Huankezhao, Gou Hongbo glanced at Liu Xing beside him and exhaled a sigh of relief.
At least he had not let Brother Jufeng down.
