"According to this Chasing Wind Dart, it has always been your personal weapon. For you assassins, isn't there a saying that when the sword is alive, the person is alive; when the sword is gone, the person dies? So why don't you just go die?"
Shangguan Wangyu appeared quite pleased, not because he was self-satisfied, but because he reveled in the thrill of controlling another person's life and death.
Though Five was saddened, it did not affect his calmness and judgment in wielding his sword. It was true that people like them were cold-blooded, but being cold-blooded did not mean being heartless.
Gradually returning from his sorrow to reality, Five looked at Shangguan Wangyu and said, "That is merely a shackle some people impose on themselves. Since the sword is gone, I can only live well and seek revenge for him; that would be the only way to honor his companionship over the years."
Shangguan Wangyu snorted disdainfully. The difference between him during battle and him while thinking was like night and day. Even Chuyang felt that Shangguan Wangyu was being overly arrogant at this moment.
"Revenge? Fine, I'll be right here waiting for you. Why don't you come for revenge?"
Five steadied his mind and realized that this version of Shangguan Wangyu was indeed different from what he had come to understand. Could it be that battle had awakened his bloodlust? Or was he simply a person with a dual personality?
However, pondering these questions now held no significance. For Five, the primary goal of this journey was to reclaim Chuyang.
But how much chance did he have? Although he could change the rhythm of their fight, the gap in physical strength was hard to bridge, not to mention trying to rescue Chuyang from his hands.
Just as Five was lost in thought, faint footsteps suddenly echoed behind Shangguan Wangyu. Subtle as they were, both Shangguan Wangyu and Five could discern them.
Shangguan Wangyu's expression changed drastically as he dashed toward Chuyang. But suddenly, a blade of light appeared behind him as he turned.
Regardless of who the footsteps belonged to, Five could not allow Chuyang to fall back into Shangguan Wangyu's hands. If it were someone from their side, this could be the turning point they needed.
What are assassins best at? It is seizing opportunities. Five struck just as Shangguan Wangyu's form was caught in transition.
If Shangguan Wangyu were determined to reach Chuyang at that moment, he would truly meet his end. If he wanted to preserve his own life, he would have to be cautious and defend himself.
Five presented Shangguan Wangyu with a choice; ultimately, the latter chose to prioritize saving his own life.
Withdrawing his Thermal Sword for defense, Shangguan Wangyu's legs suddenly fell from mid-air as he deflected Five's blade and landed beside Chuyang.
The figure that appeared next to Chuyang belonged to Jufeng, wielding the Snowy Dawn Sword.
He swiftly grabbed Chuyang and pointed his Snowy Dawn Sword forward, launching an attack on Shangguan Wangyu from three directions: above, middle, and below. Shangguan Wangyu had no time to block with his Thermal Sword and could only retreat continuously.
Jufeng brought Chuyang to Five's side as the sound of thousands of troops approached; it was Cao Ke and his group catching up.
The black spot on the back of Chuyang's neck was removed by Jufeng, who finally found his voice and quickly asked, "How is Star?"
"He will definitely die!" Shangguan Wangyu shouted frantically before Jufeng could respond.
Seeing Chuyang slip from his control, Shangguan Wangyu's true nature became even more deranged. He sheathed the Thermal Sword and said to Chuyang, "If you don't want them all to die here, you better come back to me obediently. Hurry, come back, come back!"
Chuyang was terrified by Shangguan Wangyu's frantic behavior and hurriedly hid behind Jufeng, not daring to look at him.
Shangguan Wangyu's words were enough for her to understand; she certainly didn't want her loved ones to die at his hands because of her. However, she also didn't want to lose her freedom and support with Shangguan Wangyu.
In her moment of hesitation, Jufeng reached out and held Chuyang's delicate hand reassuringly, saying, "Don't worry, Chuyang. Star will be fine."
Chuyang nodded repeatedly; there was nothing she could do but fully trust and rely on her father.
Jufeng's gaze fell on the ground nearby, where the wreckage of Chasing Wind Dart lay. He couldn't help but feel a chill.
Apologetically, he said to Five, "Chasing Wind... I'm sorry."
Five shook his head and smiled instead, comforting him, "Let Chasing Wind stay here; it will be happy."
Seeing Jufeng and Five getting emotional only fueled Shangguan Wangyu's anger further. Just as he was about to explode, footsteps suddenly approached from behind Jufeng and the others.
Moments later, the footsteps drew near, revealing several experts led by Civilization and Politeness.
Everyone seemed to gather together: one side was numerous but weak, while the other was composed entirely of elites.
Shangguan Wangyu saw that the opposing side had gathered enough people and realized that this approach would not resolve the situation. He exchanged a glance with Cao Ke and then addressed Jufeng.
"Let's settle this."
Jufeng handed Snow Clear to Politeness and Chuyang to Five before looking solemnly at Shangguan Wangyu and saying, "It is time to settle this."
Shangguan Wangyu observed Jufeng's calm demeanor and believed he must have a backup plan; he felt increasingly confident. This was his territory—what did he have to fear?
"I've heard that the Dragon Breaker Army has Special Forces composed entirely of Azure Level elites. The Hurricane Army from Earth is equally formidable. Many of your people here are Red-Class Mecha Pilots; how about we settle this with mechas?"
Jufeng smiled and replied, "Sounds good! That's exactly what I was thinking. I believe Universal Creation is the research center for mechas in the entire Cosmos; their resources must be more than meets the eye. I'm very curious about how many Red-Class Mecha Pilots the prince has."
Shangguan Wangyu smiled lightly, extending a finger and saying, "Ten of them. Is that enough?"
Upon hearing Shangguan Wangyu's words, everyone present showed expressions of contemplation. The ten Crimson Ranks mentioned by Shangguan Wangyu must belong exclusively to Huankezhao. In other words, these ten Red-Class Mecha Pilots willingly chose to be hidden away by Shangguan Wangyu. What an astonishing display of power this was.
Looking across the entire Cosmos, there were hardly a few dozen Crimson Ranks left; many had withered away or aged, and only about twenty or thirty remained active, even after five or six more Crimson Ranks had emerged from Earth.
Yet, Shangguan Wangyu could casually present ten Red-Class Mecha Pilots at once. This accounted for more than a third of the existing number—a testament to immense wealth and ambition!
However, Shangguan Wangyu's words did not end there.
"There are also twenty Tenth Ranks and three hundred Azure Level upper ranks. General Ju, what do you think?"
