In the vast graveyard stretching for miles, there was no place to speak of desolation.
This was the true reflection of the planet after the battle.
Before this great war, the planet had no name of its own; if it did, it was merely a lifeless and meaningless code.
However, after the dawn of the new era of Cosmos, it came to be known as Hero Star.
So many soldiers sacrificed their lives here that behind every towering gravestone stood a heart-wrenching tale of battle.
Years later, a tragic reality emerged: a thousand-mile radius was cordoned off, and a more modern civilization was established beyond it.
Thus, this place became a tourist attraction. Although stories continued to circulate, they could not withstand the passage of time and were reduced to mere backgrounds for visitors eager to take photographs.
More and more mechs perished here, buried beneath the soil, returning to the starry sea as loyal souls.
With all their might, after enduring most of the battle, the sun traversed from overhead to beneath their feet, and two enormous moons began to rise in the sky.
This was the night of Hero Star, more dreamlike than nights on Earth.
Yet behind that dreaminess lay an even harsher reality.
Survivors could easily become unfortunate at any moment. Until the very last moment, even when their bodies were exhausted and their strength drained, none dared to relax for even a second. Those who travel a hundred miles must persevere through ninety; if they did not have the chance to survive until the end, everything would be in vain.
Cao Ke truly deserved to be called a new generation's near-war god. Even when surrounded by four or five opponents, he still radiated vitality and boundless fighting spirit.
Of course, setting aside physical factors and mech-related aspects, everyone here was someone whose spirit lingered even after death. Even Liu Xing, who had just recovered from severe injuries, showed no sign of wavering in his gaze.
The Thermal Sword no longer appeared on the battlefield; prolonged usage had left its energy in a state of near exhaustion, even though the lethal power of pure metal remained severe.
A Metal Knife struck against a massive rock, shattering it and sending fist-sized fragments flying in all directions.
Dozens, hundreds of Metal Knives, and countless shards filled the air with flying dust and debris.
Jufeng and Chuyang soared into the sky in their mechs before landing below the mountaintop. The mech's legs carved deep grooves into the steep slope, resembling a pair of parallel lines from a distance.
Shangguan Wangyu closely followed Jufeng, tracing the path he had created down the mountainside. His Metal Knife sliced through several trees along the way, crashing down towards Jufeng as he descended.
Jufeng drove one Metal Knife into the rock while grasping a nearby Wild Pine with his other hand to halt his momentum.
At that moment, a bright light, the size of a stone fragment, illuminated the chest of Jufeng's mech and shot towards Shangguan Wangyu, who was in pursuit.
The light grew larger as it left Jufeng's mech, increasingly resembling the rising sun on the horizon, its brilliance becoming blinding.
The light did not explode upon hitting Shangguan Wangyu; instead, it burst midway. A massive rock shattered on the mountainside, obstructing visibility and halting Shangguan Wangyu's chase.
From an inclined perspective, Shangguan Wangyu leaped forward but then returned to the sloping hillside, only to find Jufeng had vanished.
The prince lifted his head and spotted Jufeng far off in the sky.
His sliding mech suddenly came to a stop as he gazed up at Jufeng, who was also looking back at him, frozen in place. There was no reaction from either side.
In the air, both Jufeng and Chuyang were exhausted. They stood shoulder to shoulder in the narrow space, each drenched in the other's sweat.
Jufeng felt weary, just like Shangguan Wangyu at that moment. Amidst the vibrant Starlight, he had no time to appreciate it.
Chuyang felt relatively relaxed, but after all, she was a girl who had not undergone much martial arts training, which made her inherently at a disadvantage.
Breathless, Chuyang said to Jufeng, "Dad, I should actually be around your age right now."
Upon hearing this, Jufeng was taken aback. At that moment, he felt an urge to wipe his eyes, suddenly finding everything a bit unfamiliar.
However, the shock was only brief, flashing through his mind. Jufeng knew that Chuyang must be very sad about this matter, but he truly did not know how to converse with a stranger who was roughly the same age as him yet had called him "Dad" for over ten years.
Suddenly, Chuyang smiled and looked at Jufeng, saying, "Is this the last time I’ll call you Dad?"
There was an undeniable hint of disappointment in Chuyang's voice, and hearing it made Jufeng feel a pang of sorrow in his heart.
After pondering for a while, Jufeng glanced at Shangguan Wangyu, who was still halfway up the mountain, and suddenly smiled as well.
" Chuyang, I have never felt you more real than now. Although I have grown accustomed to it over the years, I have always hoped that you would find your true family."
"Now that you remember the past, even if you may never find your family again, this is still the complete Chuyang. So if you wish, I will be your forever Dad."
"Really?" A spark appeared in Chuyang's eyes. Against the backdrop of her purple hair, a smile quietly emerged.
"Many years ago, my dad was a top researcher at Huankezhao, specializing in human chip technology. I believe he knew something about it. Later on, he had a change of heart and realized that this should not continue, so he withdrew midway and hid the research results. But how could Shangguan Wangyu let go? He captured my dad and interrogated him."
"My dad, to prevent this from affecting others, cruelly decided to test the results on me before sending me to Earth. As a result, my dad met a tragic end, and Shangguan Wangyu used Earth's military to capture me. The subsequent events are what my dad already knew."
"…Before this, I had a romantic relationship with Shangguan Wangyu. No one knew about it openly, but those familiar with him understood that he had chosen me as his woman."
Chuyang recounted her past in brief yet sweeping terms. What she lacked was mentioning how the experimental results had affected her physical development, causing her to age backward for such a long time. However, Jufeng could imagine all of this.
Jufeng only needed to listen quietly; that was enough for Chuyang.
Then Chuyang suddenly continued, "Dad, can you keep a secret for me? Right now, apart from my memories, I am just a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl. I want to live with Star, without any worries or concerns. I hope you can support me."
Perhaps this situation was a bit unfair for Liu Xing, but Jufeng knew that the matter between Liu Xing and Chuyang was not something he should interfere with.
Moreover, Liu Xing was a real person; as long as he could understand, he would surely come to terms with it.
Jufeng looked into Chuyang's eyes and then replied with the same seriousness as Liu Xing.
"Okay."
