To be continued.
Cao Ke watched the screen, seeing Tony in a disheveled state, and suddenly slumped into his chair.
Shangguan Wangyu, who had appeared listless before, suddenly changed in that moment.
He lifted his head, stood up, and with a single motion, the prince's aura returned to him.
It was a different kind of presence, somewhat distinct from before; it was no longer as sharp, but because it was more grounded, it became even more intimidating.
Tony hated his current state. Clearly, Shangguan Wangyu was far away in Outer Space, and he had already become a lost dog; why was he still so servile and submissive?
He had never considered that Shangguan Wangyu would suffer such a devastating defeat; he had never even thought about what failure felt like.
Just a moment ago, he was still the steward of Huankezhao, still an undeniable figure in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Who did not treat him with utmost respect?
But things had happened too quickly. Zhan Xingzi had plotted and acted without giving him any chance to resist.
Shangguan Wangyu looked at Tony and asked in a steady tone, "The details."
Hearing Shangguan Wangyu's question eased some tension in Tony's heart. Describing the situation did not require much thought and allowed his taut nerves to relax.
"Zhan Xingzi somehow managed to consolidate the first and second divisions of the army. They secretly returned from the front lines to Magellanic Star. Along with the self-defense forces of Universal Communications and Universal Information, they forcibly occupied our building. We didn't react in time. Also, Weiso betrayed us and exposed many of our joint secrets. Now public sentiment has turned one hundred eighty degrees against us, while Zhan Xingzi's approval rating is skyrocketing."
When the wall falls, everyone pushes; when the tree falls, the monkeys scatter. Shangguan Wangyu knew all too well that his allies were like gods when they could bring benefits but were worse than demons otherwise.
"A group of ungrateful people. And those ignorant commoners!"
Cao Ke silently gritted his teeth beside him, wishing he could fly back immediately and deal with those profit-driven individuals himself.
"I really regret not killing Weiso earlier. A person like him will eventually meet a bad end."
Weiso was a political broker. Jufeng had seen him from a distance during the Duel between Cao Ke and the civilized Huankezhao, but he wasn't very familiar with him. Hearing Old Horse mention this name, he couldn't help but feel a bit strange.
"Old Horse, continue the investigation. It would be best if you could get in touch with Zhan Xingzi; this person is worth collaborating with."
Old Horse accepted Jufeng's orders and then disappeared from the screen.
The drastic changes in the Magellanic Star spread rapidly throughout the Cosmos. The former supporters of Huankezhao were filled with sorrow; however, many others were quite happy, such as the Hurricane Fleet at that moment.
As soon as Old Horse's figure vanished from the screen, deafening cheers erupted in the command room of the Hurricane Army. While there had been uncertainty about securing victory before, it was now almost confirmed.
The cheers in the command room came in waves, and even Jufeng couldn't help but be affected, his expression relaxing considerably.
After a while, perhaps due to the confirmation of the outcome, many people's nerves began to ease, and fatigue and pain gradually started to invade their hearts, causing the cheers to slowly fade away.
Everyone's gaze unconsciously returned to the screen. There was no longer Old Horse; instead, it displayed a view of the starry sky, where several battleships floated.
Indeed, for some reason, when everyone looked again at the battleships chasing not far away, they did not feel how terrifying they were nor did they think about the peak mech pilots of the entire Cosmos—the once illustrious prince and general.
Ikeda Kenji gazed at Ying Huang's sea of stars and a solitary boat within it, suddenly exclaiming, "I wonder what kind of scene is unfolding in the command room on the other side?"
If the command room of the Hurricane Army was like spring with melting snow, then the command room of the Suihuan Army resembled a bleak and desolate autumn.
The pond had begun to freeze over, and everyone was silent as if frozen in fear.
The battle against the Hurricane Army and the Dragon Breaker Army had already diminished the confidence of the Suihuan Army. Now, with this new setback, things had only worsened.
With Cao Ke's arrival, the Zhongzheng Army had begun to see itself as the leader among the five Dragon Head Armies. Indeed, they had achieved remarkable victories, having defeated both the Xiao Hu Army and the First Army—feats that had never been accomplished before.
However, in this recent battle, they were thoroughly beaten by the combined forces of the Hurricane Army and the Dragon Breaker Army. Many brothers had fallen far from home, and the Zhongzheng Army no longer deserved to bear the name of the Dragon Head Army.
Now, misfortune compounded their troubles; the Suihuan Army was left homeless. Surrounded by internal strife and external threats, where could they find a way out?
In the command room sat Shangguan Wangyu and Cao Ke. Many people could only hide their emotions deep inside, afraid to speak up.
Yet their feelings were evident on their faces; it was unavoidable. The entire command room felt lifeless, so quiet that one could hear a pin drop, as if even the slightest sound would startle everyone.
Cao Ke was a soldier whose temperament resembled that of Chen Ziping—he would rather die on the battlefield than live in despair or succumb to defeat within himself.
"What are you all lamenting? What are you disappointed about? Are we truly in a dead end? Don't you realize that most of the Suihuan Army is still in our hands? As long as we return to our Military, all these victories will still belong to us!"
Cao Ke's voice rang out powerfully. He even drew upon the emotions he felt at graduation from military school to inspire those in the command room.
"I want to share a saying that you all must have heard: The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. Beyond that, nothing can shatter our oath made under military glory!"
Indeed, aside from being an exceptionally skilled general, Cao Ke was also a passionate orator. His words were rich and resonant, striking each listener's heart like an arrow shot from a bow. Even Tony on the other side of the screen felt a slight lift in his despair.
As Cao Ke finished speaking, there was a brief silence in the command room for two seconds before it erupted into enthusiastic applause.
"The General is right! We cannot lose heart; we must fight!"
"Yes, we haven't lost yet. We still have a chance to win. As long as we don't give up, we will definitely defeat the enemy!"
"......"
The deafening voice echoed in the command room, igniting a surge of enthusiasm among the crowd as they eagerly expressed their fighting spirit. The morale that had faded returned to the Suihuan Army.
Shangguan Wangyu watched this scene, looking at Cao Ke, a slight smile appearing on his lips.
Indeed, since the whole world has turned against me, why shouldn't I fight back against the entire world!
As the voices of the crowd gradually subsided, Shangguan Wangyu lifted his head and said to Tony, "You take care of the aftermath and inform the other members of the Suihuan Army to wait for us on Earth. Prepare to activate the Dead End Plan."
Tony was taken aback by these words. Right, how could he have forgotten about this? There truly is no way out; it seems that the final outcome is indeed uncertain.
"Yes, Your Highness!"
