The slaughter seemed to never cease, with more and more Zombies appearing. After Zheng Yifan killed a dozen Zombies in front of him, a large group of them surged forward once again. 0

Slowly, he could see long Scorpion Tails protruding from the tails of some of the Zombies, swaying back and forth among the horde. 0

The moment the Second-Level Zombie emerged, Han Rui screamed in terror as if startled, grabbing Zheng Yifan's arm and pulling him to run away. 0

"What’s going on?" Zheng Yifan asked, being dragged along by Han Rui, not daring to resist for fear of hurting her. 0

Having just taken down a dozen Zombies, Zheng Yifan was still riding the high of his first kill, feeling his physical abilities rapidly improve. This was his first encounter with battle, and he felt no fear or nausea from killing. 0

Instead, he felt rage towards the Zombies, a surge of anger that fueled his desire for slaughter. 0

It was reminiscent of playing an Online Game, where achieving ten kills, a hundred kills, or even a thousand kills brought immense satisfaction. 0

But now, Han Rui was desperately pulling him back to reality, waking him from that state of bloodlust. 0

When he finally came to his senses, he was shocked to see that there were still over a dozen Zombies on the ground ahead of them, bringing him closer to that elusive hundred-kill mark. 0

Moreover, it was clear that there were multiple Second-Level Zombies hidden among the horde. What terrified him even more was that the Zombies seemed endless, slowly taking over the entire corridor. 0

Fortunately, neither he nor Han Rui had any wounds. The bloodless Zombies instinctively followed their group; only those Zombies close enough to Zheng Yifan could sense his presence and began to chase after them. 0

"Run! There are Second-Level Zombies among the horde. Although I saw your combat ability earlier and you could handle one in a fight, their numbers are overwhelming. It's hard not to get hurt; their Scorpion Tails are incredibly fast. Most people who tried to escape the city ended up injuring themselves on those tails," Han Rui said, her voice choked with emotion as she recalled painful memories. 0

Yet their feet kept moving without pause. 0

The corridor of the Luxury Box encircled the entire Gladiatorial Arena. Their box number was towards the back, within the Inner City limits. As they moved outward now, no Zombies blocked their path; only a dark mass of them loomed behind them with no end in sight. 0

Looking through the Glass Wall outside, Zheng Yifan saw that the Gladiatorial Arena was already overrun with Zombies. Flames had spread throughout the Inner City; it was becoming a world engulfed in fire, and the chilling screams had never ceased. 0

Having experienced the recent mutation of the Zombies firsthand, Han Rui remained relatively calm. 0

Zheng Yifan, however, had not gone through that ordeal and felt a strong aversion to those terrifying screams. His mind raced with worry and chaotic thoughts. 0

"Ha, ha, you must have been a rich kid before, and when the mutation happened, you were lucky enough to end up at the Gathering Place," Han Rui said breathlessly as she ran. 0

"If you escaped from the city, you wouldn't worry at all about a siege of this scale. Compared to the massive hordes of Zombies in the city, mixed with a few Second-Level Zombies, rare Third-Stage Zombies, and those never-before-seen Fourth-Stage Zombies, this is a piece of cake. Once Zhang Xiao organizes the City Guard, they will surely wipe out the Zombies and seal off the entrances to ensure the safety of the Gathering Place," Han Rui said confidently. 0

Zheng Yifan hoped everything would turn out as she said; he was counting on a peaceful order to bring him substantial profits. 0

Business in both the apocalypse and reality had just started to pick up; he had only made a little money so far. The power in this world was minimal, and he was still relying solely on himself without any force under him. 0

Although those fifty Butchers could be considered his private property, he feared that in such circumstances, the Big Shots of the Gathering Place might take advantage of the situation and claim them for themselves without paying a dime. 0

The Organizing Committee of the Bloody Storm Arena wouldn't mind having resources worth thousands of Zombie Crystal s fall into their hands for free either. 0

In this apocalypse, everything ultimately required strong power for assurance. 0

"Han Rui, once we escape, we must organize our own armed forces; otherwise, we will be too dependent on others. I think this time the Gathering Place is in danger. Once the crowd disperses, I believe someone will follow us," Zheng Yifan glanced uncertainly at the center of the Gladiatorial Arena. 0

Han Rui stole a glance at the center of the Gladiatorial Arena and felt her heart sink. Trembling slightly, she said, "You have to help me rescue Qin Qin. I'm begging you; just help me save Qin Qin, and I will listen to you from now on. If I can manage a company, I can certainly be a good steward for you." 0

Her voice trembled with desperation; it was not like when she first bought her with thoughts of defiance. Now she was more concerned about surviving alongside Su Qin. 0

But when she thought about the scar on her face, the hope that had just surged within her slowly faded away. 0

"Am I too ugly for him to help me? If only my face hadn't been scarred," Han Rui thought to herself. 0

"Don't worry; Su Qin is so adorable; we have to save her. Plus, we need to find a way to deal with those Butchers. It would be even better if a few people are willing to follow us. If I'm not mistaken, that should be a Third Stage or Fourth Stage Zombie in the center of the Gladiatorial Arena," Zheng Yifan said confidently. He had always had a good impression of Su Qin; she felt like a sister to him. 0

"Yes, that's a Third-Stage Zombie. To take it down requires precise planning. The Gathering Place is already in chaos; even if we manage to kill it, we might suffer heavy losses. It might be better for us to withdraw. I remember a place that’s quite good; it's easy to defend but hard to attack and has plenty of space," Han Rui quickly emphasized her value by briefly introducing that location. 0

It was land that Han Rui's ex-husband had purchased; during his lifetime, he always wanted to turn it into a Resort—surrounded by mountains and water, easy to defend and hard to attack were its most basic features. 0

What gave Han Rui confidence in attracting Zheng Yifan was still that First Stronghold of the Two Rivers and the ancient city wall stretching for hundreds of miles. 0

It was a basin surrounded by mountains, with the river to the east. The Jiang Grand Bridge, over twelve hundred meters wide, connected both banks, while more than a hundred kilometers away lay Hansui City, with only mountain villages in between. 0

In the territory once governed by Han Rui's ex-husband, work continued. Aside from the construction workers, there were hardly any residents left after the demolitions. 0

At the center of the Resort stood the landmark building, the Twelve Towers, and the Ecological Village, both completed, though other external facilities were still under construction. 0

What gave Han Rui the most confidence was the ancient Ruiguan archaeological site built hundreds of years ago. 0

Ruiguan stood ten meters tall and one meter wide at its base, truly deserving to be called a formidable barrier. The city walls enveloped the entire basin except for a few hundred meters that had been demolished later. 0

Elsewhere, steep mountains surrounded the area; the walls built halfway up the mountains formed an insurmountable trench. Not to mention, the Ushumar Mountains stretched for hundreds of kilometers, cleaving the Jiang Plain from the vast Haqir Plain to the north of the river. 0

Across the river, hundreds of iron cables spanned it. Although they no longer held their former significance, these formidable barriers would ultimately serve as their best defense. 0

In ancient times, Ruiguan Town guarded the River Transport Route, defending national sovereignty against barbarian invasions. It had been a stronghold for several dynasties along the river; even during the Last Dynasty, it could hold out for years or even decades. 0

Now, Ruiguan could provide shelter and stability, using the river's waters to fend off most zombies from Hansui City to the north. The formidable barrier prevented zombies from Kaiyi City and several of the most populous cities in the nation south of Ruiguan. The original strategic buffer between them had transformed into one of the few habitable places in this apocalyptic world. 0

Such a fortified area had begun to shake Zheng Yifan's mindset—a merchant who believed that wealth brought safety and that one could simply move on after a single gunshot. 0
