The General's Office, the Heart of the Hope Gathering Place, is the center of power. Here resides the Ruler of the Gathering Place, Zheng Yifan, along with the Chief Administrator, Han Rui. 0

Today, the weather remains pleasant as it has since the apocalypse began; the natural environment seems to have improved remarkably. The air carries a hint of floral fragrance, that of purple jasmine—fresh and enchanting, intoxicating those who breathe it in. 0

The General's Office has gradually transformed into a grand garden, with various flowers competing for beauty. A gentle breeze sweeps through, carrying a slight odor that quickly dissipates. 0

These flowers are nourished by Zombies, more miraculous than any waste. They are capable of nurturing Essence. 0

Unfortunately, in this post-apocalyptic world, Zombies are abundant, scattered across the mountains and fields. They have lost their rarity. 0

"Hey! Gunner, Old Ghost. Are we charging in to kill everyone, or are we waiting for that guy named Zheng Yifan to come out so we can tear him to shreds?" Light Fist, a bald man in his thirties covered in colorful tattoos that obscure his true appearance, asked. 0

Yet now, everyone could read the ferocity in his demeanor. Light Fist's hands were well-protected, meticulously wrapped in bandages like a Muay Thai fighter. 0

"This is simple. You two charge in and see if that guy is really there. I'll snipe from outside. If I spot him, I'll take him out immediately and then coordinate with those Rebels to seize the barracks. This Gathering Place will belong to our Ice King Squad," Gunner said, his eyes bloodshot as he gazed toward the direction of the military camp where their coveted armor awaited. 0

They didn’t need armor themselves, but ordinary people did. Other Superpowered Individuals might require it as well. 0

Gunner and Light Fist belonged to the Superpower faction, while Old Ghost was a Nature System Superpowered Individual. His abilities were quite mysterious; only the captain of the Ice King Squad knew their full extent. 0

"Then it's settled!" Light Fist and Old Ghost cracked their necks and strode into the General's Office. 0

Two guards at the entrance glared at them with hostility. 0

"Please show your pass," one guard demanded. 0

"Pass my foot! Get out of my way!" Light Fist shouted as he lunged forward. His right hand swung with such force that it resembled lightning; his punch nearly broke the sound barrier as waves of Vital Energy surged with his strike. 0

The two guards seemed prepared; they leaped back and twisted their bodies to hide inside the General's Office, raising their Riot Shields defensively. If Light Fist and Old Ghost had been diligent in gathering intelligence beforehand, they would have known that typically, guards at the General's Office were not equipped with such gear. 0

As Light Fist's punch connected with the Riot Shield, it felt as though countless explosives had detonated upon impact. The guards behind it were sent flying against the wall, blood gushing from their mouths. 0

Fortunately, one guard wore a stab-proof vest reinforced with alloy armor beneath it; otherwise, he would have met his end. Instead, he lay on the ground convulsing violently. 0

The doors of the General's Office slowly opened, revealing a flash of cold light as a rain of arrows descended like a swarm of locusts. 0

On the streets that followed, members of the Firestorm Team gradually gathered, surrounding them. Among the crowd, the Left Guard was filled with excitement; finally, they had a chance to prove their worth. 0

Today was doubly fortunate for him, as he had an even more important surprise to deliver to Zheng Yifan. 0

Moreover, capturing these Rebels would naturally earn him greater merit. 0

His subordinates were out on missions, earning Military Merit to exchange for things they liked, but he had none. He could only rely on his fixed salary and a small share from his subordinates. 0

Although it was more than what ordinary soldiers received, it was still insufficient for his needs. 0

He urgently needed combat to gain Military Merit, to solidify his position, and to take care of his brothers. 0

Today, the rewards were practically tentacled; three Superpowered Individuals in the Hope Gathering Place were elite Combatants according to their ranks. Each one could be exchanged for 10,000 Military Merit, and he could also uncover the secrets of Superpowered Individuals from them. 0

They needed this secret; they needed to develop their own Superpowered Individuals. The Firestorm Team had already begun planning enhanced training to select personnel for future use of Essence. 0

The methods and danger levels associated with Essence had been gradually compiled into data. 0

Using the lowest grade Essence Fruit would yield a 5% chance of success, a 75% chance of failure, and a 0% chance of turning into a Zombie—starting as an Advanced Zombie at best or at least a Second-Level Zombie. 0

This forced them to avoid using it within the Gathering Place due to significant risks. Evolution laboratories were already being established outside Ruiguan, clearing out an entire area. 0

Now, eight portions of Essence had been successfully collected and sent back to base. The Superpowered Individuals across from them had also used Essence before; Old Hou could easily extract information from them. The only challenge was how to capture them. 0

Currently, these individuals were trapped and were sitting ducks. The Bloodbath Squad was also out capturing other related rebel personnel, mobilizing the entire Gathering Place to encircle these Rebels. 0

Many former refugees among the civilians in the Gathering Place participated in this operation. There were over a hundred names on the investigation list alone. Orders had been issued from above: for every confirmed rebel member captured, there would be a reward of 10 points of Military Merit—real Military Merit—against opponents who were merely ordinary people. 0

Thus began a large-scale suppression operation within the Hope Gathering Place. 0

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the General's Office, the battle continued. First came the massive Tower Shield advancing steadily, followed by Sword and Shield Bearers providing defense behind it. Among the crowd, Pikemen interspersed themselves, ready to strike at any moment. 0

The most terrifying sight was on the rooftops of the General's Office and the neighboring residential buildings, where archers had begun to appear, with crossbowmen being the most numerous. 0

After all, it takes a long time to train an archer. Even an archer using a Compound Bow needs several weeks of training just to hit a target consistently. Crossbowmen, however, are different. 0

Using a crossbow is much like using a firearm; they only need to aim at the enemy with the crosshair on the Optical Sight. There's no need to calculate wind speed or humidity since their targets are only a few dozen meters away. 0

"Wow! This is quite a bold move!" Light Fist chuckled calmly, while Old Ghost beside him wore a strange smile. 0

"I want thirty of them," Light Fist grinned fiercely, facing the ambush on the left side of the General's Office. 0

"Hahaha! Then I’ll take one!" Old Ghost laughed heartily, his figure gradually becoming blurry. 0

"You two go ahead; I'll handle their commander," Gunner said last, remaining the calmest of them all. He pulled out a Revolver from his pocket, opened the chamber, blew into it, closed the handgun, and raised his hand. 0

"Kill!" The three shouted in unison as they charged toward the members of Firestorm Team. 0

"Go all out! Archers and crossbowmen, fire!" Left Guard shouted loudly as he drew a large shield in front of himself. 0

He had seen it—the slender man in front aiming the Revolver at him. 0
