Flee, escape from here, escape from the reach of the Night Demon. Danger lurked everywhere; the dark gray ground was entwined with black Tentacles wrapping around Zheng Yifan's legs.
Suddenly, unknown monsters appeared ahead, and even the Colossal Beast behind him charged forward with endless killing intent, its massive Claw relentlessly pursuing Zheng Yifan.
He felt powerless, as if he were fighting against the entire world; the Shadow World was his enemy.
"Child, stop running! This is my world. Here, unless you are also a Shadow Esper, you can never contend with me. This is my domain; those Fellows from the outside cannot attack from another world. You are merely a fish in a barrel; death will inevitably come for you." The Night Demon was now completely at ease.
The Fellows outside clearly lacked the power to cross space or target shadows, and this Fellow before him had not considered using attacks with spatial properties or those capable of breaking through shadow realms.
A mere hint of an attack would be enough to eliminate him because in this world, everything was shadow; thus, shadows did not exist—it's akin to the principle of yin giving rise to yang.
Now, the Night Demon was a tangible entity, a fragile one at that.
Clearly, Zheng Yifan lacked the ability to attack him; all he needed to do was dissipate himself before any shielded attack could land.
"Let me out! Do you dare to face me outside?" Zheng Yifan roared loudly.
Only the Night Demon remained behind him, incessantly mocking him, accompanied by endless sarcasm.
"Out? This is my world. Even if you go out, it will only be my shadow that leaves—what does that have to do with me?"
"Don't you want to kill me? You have every opportunity. You could attack me right now, as long as you can truly kill me in this moment. I would perish, but alas, you have no chance." The Night Demon howled repeatedly.
It revealed many secrets that gave Zheng Yifan a clearer understanding of things.
He realized that thousands of years ago, there had been another evolution of humanity that allowed people to break free from their beast-like existence. This evolution birthed powerful Superpowered Individuals, and in the final battle, nearly all Superpowered Individuals were severely injured.
The most powerful among them was his master. In that battle, opposing Superpowered Individuals faced complete defeat. Only his master managed to eliminate all enemies after sustaining grave injuries and then went into hiding. Now he had regained his strength and was gathering a team to leave this planet.
Zheng Yifan also learned about the secrets of the Shadow World; it was a shared realm for nearly all Superpowered Individuals who wielded shadows. When their true forms were hidden in shadows, they were essentially concealed within this world. Enemies could only truly harm them when their true forms appeared in reality or when attacks could penetrate both worlds.
Of course, entering the Shadow World could also harm them, but one must possess absolute power; otherwise, there would be no chance at all.
Moreover, not just anyone could pull enemies into the Shadow World. This place belonged to the Shadow Espers—a realm of absolute command—not something that could be controlled casually.
Night Demon had spent nearly ten thousand years truly mastering his Superpower.
Now, his control over Superpower even surpassed that of Third-Stage Esper and Fourth-Stage Esper. He was infinitely close to Fifth Level. Unfortunately, during this long period, there was no Vital Energy in the place he resided. The entire world's Vital Energy had also vanished, and he did not know the reason. Thus, no matter how much Zheng Yifan tried to pry information from him, he could not find out anything.
However, it was clear that Zheng Yifan was not one to give up easily; he was already contemplating countermeasures.
Confronting Night Demon head-on was not a viable solution. In the Shadow World, his advantages were overwhelming. But how could he neutralize that advantage?
The only option was to drag him into the normal world, but that was evidently unrealistic. If he couldn't return himself, how could he bring someone else along? Another method would be to hope that someone in the normal world could harm Night Demon, allowing him to return.
Yet this approach was also unfeasible. Zheng Yifan himself was the strongest in the real world, at Hope Mall. Even he couldn't manage it, despite the thunder appearing similar to that of the fields.
But he knew all too well what the fields were capable of; their power had not fully accumulated. He had come here merely to broaden his horizons.
At this point, he truly felt at a loss.
As they continued their chase, both figures had already left the bounds of Han Sui City Gathering Place. Here lay an expansive and invisible grassland; although one could not see the withered grass in the Shadow World, shadows flickered intermittently on the ground.
However, here, Zheng Yifan could run much faster. The overgrown weeds weakened the shadows significantly and created chaos, unlike those concentrated shadows within the Gathering Place.
The urgency in Night Demon's speed increased as well; he accelerated further. The shadows on the grassland were clearly insufficient to replenish his energy. Running in the Shadow World even consumed some of his strength. Nevertheless, it didn't matter; almost all of the shadow power from Han Sui City Gathering Place had been absorbed by him. If this wasteful expenditure continued, it would be enough to last for hundreds of years.
The battle seemed to have reached a stalemate. But Zheng Yifan could not afford to wait idly; who knew what unexpected troubles might arise outside? What if all his subordinates were wiped out? The newly recruited soldiers were inconsequential, but there were still a few elite Superpowered Individuals he had personally trained—losing them would be a heavy blow.
With no other choice, Zheng Yifan began searching for a place to hide.
By fate's cruel twist or perhaps a joke of destiny, while escaping, Zheng Yifan passed by that grove of trees again and then came upon the frozen Lake.
However, in the Shadow World, everything was merely shadows. The shadows cast by the lake water were chaotic and clashed with those nearby. After a moment's thought, Zheng Yifan charged in without hesitation.
It felt like being cut a thousand times; yet, Zheng Yifan did not care. Instead of feeling submerged in water, he simply pushed off from the side and concealed himself in the same spot as before.
Unfortunately, this was a world of shadows where everything existed as mere reflections. Night Demon would certainly not abandon the chase as he had before; instead, he forcefully peeled away the shadows on the ground. Layer after layer of shadowy rock was absorbed by him as his speed increased further.
He had locked onto Zheng Yifan's position, who shone like a beacon in the dark Shadow World.
But suddenly, Zheng Yifan vanished, as if he had truly disappeared.
"Is this his Superpower?" Night Demon wondered, looking down. He had already overturned the top layer, revealing a maze of intersecting caverns, finally understanding how Zheng Yifan had escaped last time.
Now, within the cave, a blue halo was aimed directly at him.
This was completely abnormal; there were no colors in the Shadow World, and the concept of blue did not exist. Yet here was a blue halo targeting him. Instantly, cold sweat broke out on Night Demon.
"Take this!" The voice of Zheng Yifan emerged from the halo, followed by a burst of white light that surged toward him with powerful electricity and Vital Energy.
In the real world, Zheng Yifan was gripping the wires pulled from the basement light fixture, his body jolting with electric shocks.
After his attack, the current flowed into the Adamantium Shield. The shield itself already contained electricity, and with Zheng Yifan's enhancement, it became even more ferocious.
The current sliced through everything like a blade, sending Night Demon into a panic.
Unfortunately, he could not evade it; even if his body turned to shadow, the current forcibly gathered his shadow back together.
Finally, the Adamantium Shield swept past him and then returned for a second strike.
Yet even so, it only left Night Demon severely injured. Blood dripped from his mouth as he glared fiercely at Zheng Yifan. He understood now that this fellow's Superpower might allow him to enter another world—a place that did not belong to the Shadow World.
But he absolutely could not tolerate an escape, nor could he flee himself; he was already gravely wounded and would soon be unable to maintain his form in the Shadow World. He would inevitably return to the normal world.
At that moment, Zheng Yifan would also return with him, and he would be even less able to face Zheng Yifan then.
Suddenly, the colossal beast leaped into action, channeling all its strength into a dagger held before Night Demon. The dagger gradually turned pure black as it pierced downward with all of Night Demon's power.
Crisis—Zheng Yifan could think of nothing else. Even the Time-Space Barrier could not be closed now because the two realms were unstable and required at least a minute to stabilize.
There was absolutely no way for him to close the Time-Space Barrier at this moment.
As for letting the Night Demon enter the Time-Space Barrier, using the power of the Time-Space Barrier to eliminate the Night Demon.
Don't dream about it; the Night Demon might be pushed back by the Time-Space Barrier. However, its attacks will inevitably come through. The Time-Space Barrier does not prevent the passage of power, nor can it block it.
Because all the power of the Time-Space Barrier is used to enhance Zheng Yifan's own abilities.
The shadowy dagger gradually descended.
Zheng Yifan could no longer care about anything else; he almost bit down on the electric wire and, with all his strength, once again unleashed that desperate throwing technique.
All his strength, every ounce of energy, and all the Vital Energy hidden within his cells were poured into this strike. Coupled with his boundless belief and all the essence of gun techniques he had comprehended, everything was focused on this one blow.
"Whoosh!" The Silver Spear flew out. At that moment, Zheng Yifan didn't care about what was happening on the other side; he immediately crouched down and pulled out a large quantity of Military Nutritional Solution from his Storage Space, consuming two whole boxes in quick succession before he had the time to observe the Shadow World.
At this point, his body cells had at least regained their vitality, ensuring he wouldn't suffer again in the near future.
Meanwhile, the world on the other side began to change slowly.
Zheng Yifan knew he had to cross over; otherwise, he might remain trapped in the Shadow World forever. (To be continued)
