With the heat of their breaths, the high temperature surged into the narrow Freight Elevator, instantly turning it into a steamer. Even worse was the sour stench that was simply unbearable. 0

It was nothing short of hell. A few people inside began to vomit, and even the growls of the Zombies changed. 0

What they couldn't see was that while they were retching, a Lizard lay on the ground, half-opening one eye in mockery, as if it could see through the floor and watch the people inside heaving loudly. 0

Zheng Yifan saw everything. The Lizard's gaze clearly indicated that its intelligence had developed to a high level, much like a cat toying with a caught mouse. 0

The Survivors below had no idea that this Lizard had already set its sights on them; they were solely focused on killing the Zombies. It wasn't until all the Zombies below were dead that they opened the Gate of the Freight Elevator. 0

The food down below became their spoils, with various types of provisions piled high throughout the Sample Warehouse. 0

The entire warehouse was only over a hundred square meters, while other warehouses belonged to different companies. These Survivors showed no interest in any of the valuable Post-Apocalypse goods. Each person stealthily carried over a hundred pounds of food as they scurried out. 0

There were more than ten of them, each returning heavily laden, like mice afraid of waking the Lizard. Just moments ago, they had nothing to eat; now that they had something, they were even more fearful of losing their food. 0

Food was the most precious thing in this post-apocalyptic world—nothing else compared. It determined a person's life and status. 0

Every Survivor in the city could be like a field mouse, able to survive anywhere suitable, hiding with a resilience stronger than cockroaches. 0

Now that they possessed food, they had everything. If they could escape, they would enjoy over a month of blissful living—a life so good it would make them wake up smiling from dreams. 0

“Quick! Don’t let this big Fellow wake up!” The group hurriedly scurried away in small steps. 0

Suddenly, it seemed that the Lizard turned in its sleep, its tail swaying as its body shifted. It swept across above their heads and then blocked their path. 0

Everyone was cornered on the first floor of the building. 0

To escape, they had to get past the Lizard. Panic swept through the crowd as Zheng Yifan, even from the third floor, couldn't help but cover his nose. Two people had actually wet themselves, and the stench was so strong that Zheng Yifan could smell it from above. 0

The Lizard seemed to sense the discomfort and slowly approached the group. It didn't attack immediately, as if still toying with them. 0

That unsettling feeling of being teased made Zheng Yifan acutely aware of the fear in the hearts of those around him. His Supreme Sovereign Superpower churned within him, sensing the latent strength hidden in their bodies. 0

This was the Fortune gathered from millions of people. It resided in belief, wrapped in the heights of the sky. 0

If he saved these ten or so individuals, he could gain their Fortune, which would boost his Superpower. 0

Zheng Yifan suddenly felt a surge of determination. He looked at the group with newfound warmth. 0

While Zheng Yifan was lost in thought, the Lizard appeared to have grown bored with its prey. It spent its time either eating or sleeping, occasionally playing with some toys as if they were snacks. 0

Raising its Claw, it swung lightly; with just one swipe, it could crush all ten Survivors effortlessly. 0

"Abomination! Seeking death!" Zheng Yifan no longer hesitated. With his Silver Spear aimed downward, he thrust it fiercely toward the Lizard's head, intending to pierce through its skull. 0

Zheng Yifan observed the Lizard's speed clearly; its combat power was around the Fourth Stage, not yet reaching Fifth Level. Dealing with this creature would still be quite challenging. 0

He had just activated his Superpower, but it wasn't fully unleashed yet. His Superpower required the accumulation of Fortune from many people to truly manifest. 0

All his old allies were at the Hope Gathering Place, making it impossible for him to return and utilize that Fortune for now. 0

He could only rely on his own efforts now, starting with these dozen or so people; perhaps it was not a bad idea. 0

The Silver Spear plunged straight into the Lizard's nose. 0

"Hiss!" The Lizard flicked its tongue wildly, shaking its head back and forth. The violent movements kicked up clouds of dust. 0

The bar and other facilities in the entire hall had long been reduced to ruins, and now with the Giant Lizard going berserk again, the whole building trembled. 0

The dozen or so people hurriedly fled in panic. Zheng Yifan appeared like a descending deity, astonishing them, but more than that, they felt fear. They were terrified of Zheng Yifan, afraid that one misstep would plunge them into the shadow of death as well. 0

With a swift motion, Zheng Yifan pulled out the Silver Spear, blood spraying everywhere and splattering onto his face. He didn't even bother to wipe it off before he took off running. 0

Determined not to engage with the Lizard behind him, killing that Lizard would only yield a corpse; he would still have to risk his life in battle. It was far safer to escape. The Lizard was already injured, and in Zheng Yifan's eyes, there was not just killing intent but also fear. 0

The Lizard feared Zheng Yifan and was on the brink of madness. Just as Zheng Yifan retreated at this critical moment, the dozen or so people carrying their supplies rushed out the door and saw Zheng Yifan leading the charge outside. 0

Then came the intense rumbling from behind. 0

Though his body moved forward, Zheng Yifan kept his gun aimed at the Lizard. As long as it dared to charge at him, he would shoot it down. 0

It was indeed a risky endeavor; the Lizard's tail possessed immense strength, and with its sharp teeth bared, it showed no fear towards Zheng Yifan. 0

However, just as Zheng Yifan did not wish to confront this Lizard, ever since he gained intelligence, he was destined to no longer hunt like an ordinary beast. 0

In his attack sequence, those who could easily take him down—his Fellow creatures—were definitely keeping their distance; it was best if they never encountered him at all. 0

Facing this bean-sized human, there was no real battle to gauge victory or defeat. However, he was already injured while his Fellow appeared strong and vigorous. More importantly, even if he consumed that human, there would be no benefit; it would be more worthwhile to devour some higher-level Zombies. A Superpowered Individual without a Zombie Crystal in their head—if they had one at all—could not produce anything that a low-level Superpowered Individual could generate. Clearly, the Fellow across from him had not reached such strength; if they had, they would have shot him dead long ago instead of allowing him to chase after them. 0

Without any benefit, facing life and death, each person had to confront the Lizard. Without a second thought, the Lizard stopped, its long tongue continuously licking its wounds. In no time, the wounds, submerged in saliva, began to heal rapidly. 0

Zheng Yifan also slowly retreated, his gaze alert and ready to strike at any moment. The dozen or so Fellows were utterly astonished by Zheng Yifan. Although they understood what a Superpowered Individual was, their concept of it was completely muddled; they had no idea what kind of powers a Superpowered Individual possessed. They were even more clueless about what being a Fifth-Level Powerhouse meant, even though this Fellow named Zheng Yifan was nothing but a fraud without any Fifth Level strength. 0

"This... this..." Zhang Wei stammered, unable to utter a word. 0

"My name is Zheng Yifan," Zheng Yifan casually replied. 0

"Brother Zheng, thank you for saving us. To repay your kindness, please accept this food," Zhang Wei signaled to his companions behind him to quickly bring forward the supplies. 0

Though they were reluctant, they forced smiles on their faces as they presented their meager offerings. 0

Zheng Yifan observed their expressions as if he had just slept with their wives; it was quite unpleasant. 0

"Enough! No need to look so glum; I have no interest in your little food supplies. Keep it for yourselves," Zheng Yifan waved his hand dismissively, urging them to take their things and leave quickly. 0

Zhang Wei hesitated but then grabbed the supplies without hesitation. His eyes were filled with wariness, showing only a hint of gratitude towards Zheng Yifan. 0

Zheng Yifan understood that in this post-apocalyptic world, no one would easily trust others. If someone acted like a close brother right off the bat, they were either a thief or up to no good. 0

"Brother, you're not one of us from the Telecom Building, are you? Although we have around three thousand people in the Telecom Building, we definitely don't have anyone as powerful as you. Even Hao the Great wouldn't stand a chance against that Lizard," Zhang Wei said slowly while still leading Zheng Yifan back to his hideout. 0

The streets were already filled with Zombies; their path was mostly through alleys and residential areas. 0

Broken windows connected each building, and some ladders were propped between adjacent structures. Most of the journey involved precariously crossing gaps between buildings. 0

Along the way, they experienced the thrill of parkour in this Post-Apocalypse setting. On those shoddily made ladders, there was little sense of security; it felt much safer to rely on the rope in their hands. 0

The survivors carried their bags of food, each weighing a hundred pounds, without any hesitation as they moved along the path. 0

Not a single zombie appeared along the way; those zombies could only roar loudly from below. 0

Gradually, Zheng Yifan figured out how they managed to do this. 0

During this long winter, all the survivors must have mobilized to clear out the zombies from some of the buildings and then constructed an aerial passage. 0

They dared not build on the top floors, as that would attract attacks from flying creatures; in this apocalypse, any bird could be considered a predator. 0

The connection between windows relied mainly on ropes, with very few places to gain support beneath their feet. 0

Thus, high above the ground, everyone moved between the buildings like Tarzan, forming an aerial pathway. 0

This was much safer and more reliable than Zheng Yifan initially thought about escaping underground. Even Second-Level Zombies wouldn't casually climb up to the higher floors. 0

Zombies were accustomed to hunting on the ground. They would only attack upwards when they spotted prey. 0
