"Boss, we should be careful; the numbers don't add up!" It wasn't one of the Huang Brothers speaking, but rather the plump figure of Ten Thousand Steps, his breath reeking of alcohol as he glanced at the dwindling crowd. He quietly signaled a number to Zheng Yifan. 0

"Fifty-nine!" 0

It was accurate, matching the number Zheng Yifan had recorded in his mind. Aside from the Superpowered Individuals under Hu Lao San, there were indeed fifty-nine people still alive. 0

But that was wrong! 0

Now only fifty-five remained, because just as Zheng Yifan calculated the number in his mind, four more people suddenly vanished. 0

In his focus, Zheng Yifan identified the culprit—or rather, the source of it all—on the ground. Four dark, swamp-like holes had suddenly appeared. Those four individuals had been so preoccupied with fleeing that they hadn't noticed their footing and fell straight down. 0

Like an abyss, they had disappeared without a trace. Upon closer inspection, he saw Hu Lao San hiding behind a billboard next to the botanical garden, his legs trembling uncontrollably. Around him were four black holes on the ground, and four figures were bound by some unseen force near Hu Lao San. 0

Then Zheng Yifan witnessed a gruesome scene: blood pooled on the ground, with a nearby sewer suggesting the presence of Zombies below. He could already smell their foul stench. 0

It seemed Hu Lao San had slit those people's throats and tossed them into the sewer below, where the Zombies would devour their bodies completely. 0

The belongings they carried had piled up into a small mountain, carelessly discarded in the greenbelt behind him. 0

No one paid attention to him; everyone was too busy trying to save their own lives. In life-and-death situations, people are selfish. Who has time to worry about others? 0

"Brother!" Suddenly, a Survivor in the crowd shouted. He had been moving forward alongside his brother, their hands clasped together. Now, he realized his brother had inexplicably vanished. All he saw was his brother seemingly falling into a manhole. 0

But looking again, there was nothing left—just a severed arm hanging from his own hand. 0

It dawned on him that his elder brother, who had always sheltered him from harm, had met such a tragic end due to this conspiracy. 0

"Everyone, there's a conspiracy!" he shouted loudly, but it was completely useless. People had already surrounded him, a dozen or so ready to strike at any moment. 0

Zheng Yifan stood at the front of the crowd, constantly keeping an eye on the surroundings. The girl in his arms was sleeping soundly; despite the crisis, Zheng Yifan felt no bumps as he moved. His ears were covered with earmuffs, almost completely blocking out the sounds of the outside world. 0

This was also a way to help her recover quickly. 0

"Whoosh!" A shadow appeared beneath Zheng Yifan's feet. It felt as if the ground had suddenly vanished, and his body quickly fell downward due to gravity. 0

The Silver Spear swayed in front of him as Zheng Yifan's right arm moved. The Adamantium Shield was also ready to attack at any moment. 0

"Whoosh!" A sharp arrow shot through the air, piercing the black hole beneath Zheng Yifan's feet, which suddenly disappeared. Then, another identical black hole appeared in the air behind a billboard. 0

The two black holes were parallel to each other, as if breaking some bizarre force. A strong vibration ensued, shattering the entire billboard. All matter began to disintegrate. 0

"Ah!" Hu Lao San screamed sharply, a black spot appearing on his body. Gritting his teeth, he felt the black hole slowly shrink; blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he actively released Vital Energy. 0

The speed was even faster than before; in just two or three seconds, he had completely released it all. 0

"Liu Hao! You brat are here to ruin my good fortune again! Don't you fear that I'll kill you?" Hu Lao San glared into the distance where a dark figure was rapidly approaching, soaring through the air like a meteor. In just a few leaps, it was right in front of him. 0

It was someone very familiar—someone he had seen just yesterday—but now dressed entirely differently. He had apparently robbed some clothing store and donned a stylish leather jacket, cowboy pants, a cowboy hat, and American cowboy boots, looking every bit like an old cowboy. Yet his appearance was unmistakably that of a Han Chinese man. There wasn't a hint of any other ethnicity; his neatly trimmed mustache and sparse stubble on his chin gave him a unique charm. 0

This seemingly ordinary fellow had an undeniable charisma; that was Zheng Yifan's first impression. Even though he had floated by yesterday, seeing him up close now created an even stronger visual impact. 0

He was a handsome man, striking not just for his attire but also for his wind-like demeanor. 0

The dynamic leap from mid-air and the force behind it were definitely not something a movie star could portray. As he flashed through the air, his bright eyes, like a beacon in the night, locked onto Hu Lao San, unwavering and focused. 0

In his hands was a long black bow, approximately six feet in length. Unlike the last time, he had equipped himself with new gear. The quiver of arrows strapped to his back had clearly been meticulously arranged, featuring two types of arrows—black and white—that differed entirely in both material and design. 0

These were two different kinds of arrows for distinct purposes. 0

His body spun rapidly, and in an instant, he was beside Zheng Yifan. The arrows from his quiver brushed past Zheng Yifan's face, and the massive black bow nearly crashed into him. 0

Yet, Zheng Yifan remained completely still; even the girl in his arms felt no tremor and continued to sleep soundly. 0

"Such courage!" he couldn't help but praise softly, as if afraid of waking the sleeping child. 0

"My name is Liu Hao," he introduced himself. "My friends call me Rat, and they even gave me a nickname—City Hunter. Honestly, I don’t like it much; I’m not really a hunter. Just an ordinary person struggling to survive in this apocalypse." Liu Hao then scrutinized Zheng Yifan closely before glancing at the Huang Brothers behind him. 0

"It seems I shouldn’t have intervened; you can definitely handle them on your own. Even those two fellows behind you can help you out of this predicament. They’ve picked the wrong target." 0

Upon hearing Liu Hao's words, Zheng Yifan immediately felt a sense of camaraderie with him. It was clear that this young man had some skills; Hu Lao San recognized him instantly, and coupled with last night's spectacular performance, it was hard for Zheng Yifan to form a negative impression. 0

As for Liu Hao's attire, it was merely a matter of personal taste; overall, he was undoubtedly a clean man—inside and out, including his smile. 0

Of course, that deliberately grown beard and the sparse hair on his chin were exceptions. 0

"Your skills are impressive too. This marksmanship of hitting a target from a hundred paces is something I could never master in my lifetime. Once we get to the botanical garden, let’s have a couple of drinks; I’ve got good wine and meat here. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied." Zheng Yifan gestured toward the backpack behind him. 0

He wasn’t entirely sure what was inside it, but that wasn’t an issue for him. With Storage Space backing him up, he had no worries about food—he had plenty of options. 0

"Thank you for your kindness! With good wine and meat, I wouldn't trade this for anything else! However, it's time to clean up these small fries. Hu Lao San is mine; the rest is up to your skills!" Liu Hao shouted as he charged ahead. 0

Clearly, everyone else was leaving it to Zheng Yifan to handle. 0

Zheng Yifan could only smile helplessly. There were a total of nineteen people left, including Nail, who had been joking around in the crowd. The most they could do was just become Second Tier Superpowered Individuals, so having them take action wasn't really valuable. 0

"Boss! Just watch me!" Huang Brothers stepped forward confidently. 0

Ten Thousand Steps also couldn't hold back, excitement written all over his face as he looked at the group: "Boss, I want to test out my new weapon this time. Let me take care of part of it too!" 0

Ten Thousand Steps was a Third Stage Inscription Master with impressive physical abilities, but when it came to actual combat, he might not necessarily be able to defeat those Second-Stage Espers. 0

First-Level Espers posed no difficulty; as long as he used his Psychic Weapon, victory was assured. 0

He had a teacup that resembled a large bomb strapped to his back, looking much like a street vendor. 0

"There are nineteen of you; find your targets and handle them yourselves!" Zheng Yifan scanned the crowd. 0

"Just watch me!" Ten Thousand Steps was the first to agree, pulling out the cup that looked like a grenade. 0

In terms of combat, that cup was hardly different from a grenade. Moreover, with the door panel standing in front of him, he had a means of self-preservation if things went south. 0

"I can only spot one person; you can handle the other six! Just don't blow your own horn too much!" Huang Brothers said in unison to Ten Thousand Steps. 0

"All of them are mine! You can't take any!" Ten Thousand Steps dashed forward like Santa Claus, his arms filled with cups that he began tossing around like fireworks. 0

But upon closer inspection, it became clear that every cup he threw had a specific target! 0

"Hey! I haven't even started yet!" The strands of hair from the Huang Brothers had just intertwined, forming a resilient mass, when the attack from Ten Thousand Steps arrived. 0

Nineteen cups, each aimed at nineteen targets. Those individuals had no idea why someone suddenly started throwing cups at them; however, given their identities as Superpowered Individuals, they clearly dismissed it. 0

But they would soon regret it; this was undoubtedly the most tragic cup incident in the world! 0

The cups approached those nineteen people with a terrifying slowness, more frightening than guided bombs. Everyone thought these cups were merely reminders for their allies about the targets, and all eyes were focused on the Huang Brothers, specifically Zheng Yifan. 0

Their leader had long warned them to watch out for these two, while the fat guy went unnoticed. 0

No one paid attention to a support Superpowered Individual. 0

However, some were destined to pay a heavy price—like them. 0

While they were busy guarding against the Huang Brothers, the cups had already smashed into them. 0

The sound of shattering echoed, accompanied by a sensation within their bodies as if a whirlwind had shredded them apart, turning bones and muscles into pulp that sprayed into the air. 0

It was as if nineteen fireworks exploded—fireworks made of flesh and blood. (To be continued...) 0
