The Giant Earthworm moved swiftly, and Zheng Yifan was not slow either. As he maneuvered rapidly, shadows appeared around him—these were the strongest manifestations of the Power of Faith, with countless Avatars of the Believers charging toward the Giant Earthworm.
No force could rival this; the impact was almost cataclysmic. The violent collision sent shockwaves rippling through the Giant Earthworm's body, causing it to tremble.
Yet, it was merely a tremor. There was no overwhelming combat power, no stunning lethality. It lacked the slaughtering force that could deal with Low-Level Zombies.
Faced with the Sixth Tier Treasure Earthworm, Zheng Yifan found himself at his wit's end.
But he still had the Silver Spear and Adamantium Shield—his last resort. However, what good would that do? They could only be considered a last resort; the real battle had yet to begin. Without a significant increase in combat power, he could not truly defeat his opponent. An absolute qualitative change could not be compensated for by sheer numbers, and moreover, Zheng Yifan did not possess those numbers.
The massive mouth resembled a black hole.
When it was just over twenty meters away from Zheng Yifan, it finally revealed its gaping maw—the first time it showed its feeding passage. Normally, its Tentacles handled everything, but now, in response to Zheng Yifan, it opened that enormous mouth.
This was the Giant Earthworm's most powerful attack method. Its formidable body strength allowed it to completely swallow Zheng Yifan whole, as it lunged at him with lightning speed.
It was already at its maximum speed; during this predatory leap, it reached physiological and biological limits. Even a Seventh Level creature could not match this speed or explosive power. Every muscle in its body was fully mobilized to unleash this instantaneous force.
In just that leap, it enveloped Zheng Yifan entirely. Then came the shadow of death and an overwhelming chill.
Unexpectedly, this giant worm was terrifying; its speed combined with its gaping maw meant that before Zheng Yifan could react, he found himself inside a vast cavity surrounded by a sticky liquid, with the soft walls of the worm's mouth above and below him.
There were no teeth; worms are inherently Soft-bodied Creatures, and now they had evolved into something even more fearsome. It was far beyond what an ordinary Soft-bodied Creature could compare to. The soft internal tissues were impenetrable to Zheng Yifan, like shackles of death binding him.
"Boom!" The ground spun. As Zheng Yifan was swallowed, it felt as if the earth itself was rotating. The Giant Earthworm seemed satisfied, letting out a burp, then swaying its body as it slowly wandered around the Factory Area.
The entire Factory Area was its dessert factory, with every Zombie inside serving as its food. Its territory extended far beyond this. Right now, it was merely patrolling the area.
After consuming Zheng Yifan, the Giant Earthworm lost its appetite. The surrounding Zombies, upon seeing the Giant Earthworm, began to flee in terror. No Zombie dared to challenge this massive creature.
Even powerful beings preferred not to provoke this giant worm; it was a tough-skinned, meaty thing that could easily regenerate even if cut in half. Unless smashed into pulp, there was always a chance of revival.
Unfortunately, Zheng Yifan lacked that kind of power; he didn't even have the strength to break free from his physical form. All he could feel was the relentless crushing of his esophagus. His body felt like dough being mercilessly kneaded by a machine in the real world.
Meanwhile, Li Ning and his group seemed unfazed as they continued eating. The sudden scare had startled them all, but soon they were completely at ease.
What kind of person was their leader? A mysterious powerhouse who could disappear at any moment. They had considered the possibility that Zheng Yifan might be harmed, but now they were no longer worried. Zheng Yifan's strength far surpassed theirs; even if he were truly attacked, it wasn't something they could handle. It would be better to let him extricate himself.
As for them, they would continue with their tasks, clearing out some Zombies in the Factory Area, especially focusing on the two factories specifically mentioned by Zheng Yifan. One of the most needed resources for Hope Gathering Place was research reserves, which served as a cornerstone for the rapid development of the entire Gathering Place.
Of course, in their minds, it was just a mission objective. Their primary task remained to understand and complete all assignments given by Zheng Yifan.
Zheng Yifan had many heavy responsibilities. However, only a few were truly critical.
A large quantity of Zombie Crystal s and the overall construction equipment for the Solar Photovoltaic Power Station in the coastal area supported the entire electricity plan for the Gathering Place. Although the current electricity supply was sufficient, having excess electricity was always better; naturally, more was always welcome.
The members of the Raging Dragon Exploration Team had already been approached by someone wanting to inquire about the recent events.
They had witnessed a flash of light shoot out from this location, followed by the escape of that large creature.
It was entirely drawn out by that person. Even if they couldn't see the figure clearly, they could guess what had happened.
"Don't ask any more questions. Just proceed with the plan as scheduled. You handle everything; just make sure to hand over the entire operation plan to us when it's time for the final action," Li Ning said impatiently. He wasn't worried about these matters at all; after all, the Factory Area was merely a test of this team's combat capabilities. Otherwise, Zheng Yifan could have handled it himself.
Unexpectedly, Zheng Yifan had left the team because of that large creature. The assessment had turned into their own evaluation, and the true observer or witness had already departed from the scene.
However, they had to proceed and record everything. Eighteen high-definition cameras were fully set up, and they needed to capture the entire process and document it. When Zheng Yifan returned, they would hand over the recordings. More importantly, their supplies were at a bare minimum—just enough for the team to operate. The bulk of their supplies was still with Zheng Yifan. If they entered Deep City without adequate supplies, their stamina would decline significantly. Most crucially, without Zheng Yifan's primary combat strength, they were uncertain if they could even get in.
They might end up risking the entire team. Deep City was not comparable to Hansui City; it was a well-known affluent city even in the Post-Apocalypse era, with a floating population exceeding one hundred million, generating vast numbers of Zombies. Those Zombies alone could easily lead to their demise within its confines.
Now, all they could do was trust—trust that Zheng Yifan would return in time and deliver a decisive blow against the Zombies at the most critical moment. (To be continued...)
