Explosion! The flames of the blast forced all the air around it out, leaving only the last remnants of power—the explosive force, the Vital Energy bursting forth with the raw strength of a post-apocalyptic world.
Even a Fourth-Stage Esper would find it nearly impossible to withstand this strike. Not even a Fifth Level Superpowered Individual or a Zombie could do more than barely save themselves.
Such a powerful weapon was not typical of the Hope Gathering Place, which usually preferred to hold back its trump cards. On the other side, the Raging Dragon Exploration Team had also revealed their hidden tactics, which were tools frequently used by the explorers from Hope Gathering Place.
These were devices similar to Directional Explosive Devices, originally created as a last resort for explorers to take down Zombies in a mutual destruction scenario.
However, these devices had gradually been fully exploited by them. Despite their high cost and danger—boasting a 0% survival rate—they remained favored by explorers. All Speed-Type Espers would prepare more than one directional bomb, ready to fight desperately against those Zombies that could wipe them out.
More than thirty previously unremarkable Speed-Type Espers stepped forward at this moment. In the distance, Zheng Yifan heard the explosions of bombs, his eyes filled with tears.
He understood the explorers' methods and hoped to survive. What was the survival rate? 70% under a single attack?
What if they used it a second time? The survival rate would drop below that. And again?
They would eventually all perish here, all for the sake of taking down the strongest Zombie.
One after another, brave warriors embarked on their journey toward death. The first Superpowered Individual gradually approached the target, using all his strength to tackle the terrifyingly large Zombie. He then attached the directional explosive device to the enemy's body. Hundreds of Zombies attacked simultaneously around him. These were not ordinary Zombies, but rather mummies that resembled plants, capable of shooting out vines like fibrous spider silk, completely immobilizing the airborne Superpowered Individual.
"Detonate! Boss! Detonate! Take care of Bao'er for me!" The man shouted this one line before being ensnared in mid-air.
Tears filled the eyes of those behind him; they knew this comrade—this self-proclaimed father of Bao'er, who had bravely raised his son alone in this apocalypse for two years. How hard it had been to survive until now! Yet now he was sacrificing himself for the entire Exploration Team, leaving hope for others to live on.
"Don't worry! Bao'er will definitely be my son from now on!" The strong man also showed his softer side.
Tears streamed down Wang Xiaolong's face like an uncontrollable flood, pouring out his last feelings for his brother.
Then he pressed down on the Controller in his hand.
"Boom!" A fierce blaze erupted, transforming all that good father's hopes into a raging inferno. Where the flames burned was where he contributed his final strength.
The damage caused by the intense explosion was nearly equivalent to that of a missile; the power of the missile had been dispersed, its force already spread out.
This type of directional bomb produced destruction in a single-direction blast. Its lethality was more ferocious, and its range more precise.
However, its only drawback was that when facing an enemy of enormous size, the damage inflicted was minimal.
They were doing what they could, perhaps that was all they could do now. No one had given up resisting. They were among the most elite survivors in this apocalyptic world.
Li Ning stood at the front of the group, his weapon firmly embedded in the ground, and his Vital Energy Fluctuation was incredibly fierce.
The weapon was embedded with thousands of Third-Stage Soul Crystals. Those were all that Zheng Yifan had left behind, and unexpectedly, Li Ning had taken them all for himself.
With the weapon planted in the ground, a storm brewed—Duality! The ultimate power. It was an explosion that carried all his strength. Perhaps after this outburst, he would be unable to move for months because it was a power he had never touched before. Fourth Stage power? Or perhaps Fifth Level.
He did not know; it was merely a possibility derived by the Scientists at the Gathering Place in a moment of inspiration.
Now, he would use it recklessly; it was both a test of himself and his final strike before death.
“Roar!” The continuous roars sounded like a torn windbag, desperate cries filled with rage—a nearly one hundred eighty-degree assault with no angles to evade. Thousands upon thousands of grotesque Zombies attacked simultaneously; such an assault could only be described as terrifying.
Almost everyone retreated, overwhelmed by the intense momentum, unable to withstand such a powerful attack.
Only Li Ning stood firm at the front, facing the oncoming assault head-on.
“Duality!” Li Ning shouted loudly, his voice filled with genuine fury.
All his power surged magnificently as Vital Energy rushed into his Superpowered Weapon.
“Bang!” A cracking sound erupted as fissures appeared on the formidable Superpowered Weapon. The cracks grew larger and spread continuously, resembling shattered glass as it began to crumble into pieces like ripples slowly breaking apart.
At that critical moment, Li Ning's attack struck.
Two extreme forces emerged simultaneously, one rising and the other falling.
Attract and Rejection. These two forces were not entirely incompatible, but under Li Ning's manipulation, they began to converge, merging into one another. Attract and Rejection—two forces where the power of Rejection accelerated objects toward Attract.
This was initially unremarkable, resulting only in a doubling effect of the Attract force.
However, as the two forces drew closer, the previously motionless Zombie suddenly began to stir.
Li Ning still did not know what the true form of this Zombie was; all he could see before him was a towering tree that seemed to stretch endlessly upward, its trunk wide enough to span dozens of meters.
The tree was layered with branches and leaves; the branches served as conduits for energy, while the leaves resembled individual Cocoons. When those Cocoons ruptured, what emerged was a plant-like Zombie.
Mutated Zombie, or perhaps Mutated Plants. This was no longer an ordinary form of Zombie; it had transformed from a biological entity into a plant, becoming more formidable yet losing its mobility.
The power of Duality suddenly intertwined at the center of this massive tree that Li Ning observed, completely overlapping.
In an instant, a miraculous scene unfolded, shocking everyone. The mother tree, the Giant Mother Zombie, underwent a transformation. (To be continued...)
