Zheng Yifan never expected to see his parents in such a situation, and Butler George must have been living with them all this time. To maintain their lives, Butler George had organized everything meticulously. However, with the war and the Aircraft Carrier, Zheng Yifan truly found it hard to believe that this Old Buddy had the capability to manage such a feat.
Yet, looking at the current situation before him, he had no choice but to believe that it was indeed this Old Buddy who first brought the Aircraft Carrier to Australia.
Or perhaps it wasn’t him who brought it over, but rather the crew around him.
"This is my son, Tom. He used to be the Vice Captain on Charles de Gaulle, and now he has officially become the Captain. The original Captain and the other Vice Captains have all turned into mindless Zombies." Old George felt grateful; his son's Essence had come from Zheng Yifan, a truly precious gift. He had once thought it was merely for strengthening the body, but now? It was entirely different. This liquid could actually enhance bodily functions and provide immunity against becoming a Zombie. They had seen so many Survivors, yet none were Old Buddies; only they seemed so out of place.
"Welcome to the future headquarters of Hope Group, and heartfelt congratulations on entering this new world." Zheng Yifan shook hands lightly with the young man before turning to greet his parents.
His parents were ordinary people without any significant background. The past two years felt like a dream to them. However, they felt uneasy; their son hadn’t shown his face in two years, and opportunities to meet were few and far between. They understood that their son was busy with his career and everything that came with it. If not for occasional visits from some young ladies who came to spend time with them, the elderly couple would have been bored to death.
In France, they had no friends and limited opportunities for outings. Yet over these two years, they surprisingly learned how to take a car to Chinatown to play cards. Although the rules were different, after several attempts, they had grasped the essence of the game and even made friends with some of the elderly folks in Chinatown.
Others didn’t know their true identities; they merely assumed they were wealthy newcomers in France. Of course, they were seen as rich people from back home since they had a dedicated driver and owned a car worth several tens of thousands of dollars.
That car was actually the cheapest one in Zheng Yifan's garage, typically used for sending servants out for errands.
"Dad! Mom!" Zheng Yifan rushed forward to embrace his parents. In such circumstances, he could hardly imagine whether they would still be alive. Although they had consumed Essence, accidents were all too common; even with Essence in their system, there was still a possibility of being killed by others. Not all the servants around them had drunk Essence.
"You silly boy! Just seeing you healthy makes us so happy. Make sure to come home more often. Don't always stay out; it's chaotic out there now—who knows when trouble will arise again?" His mother choked back tears as she murmured those familiar words.
What once annoyed Zheng Yifan now felt like happiness. He hadn’t experienced this feeling in a long time.
"Mom! Some things can't just be ignored; there are many people relying on me to make a living. The winds are changing, and if we don't fight, our lives could be at stake!" Zheng Yifan said with a smile to his mother.
His father, already impatient, thought that while his wife had many good qualities, her nagging and chatter were habits she never seemed to shake off.
"Enough! Honey, stop nagging. The younger generation will have their own fortunes. Why worry about it? Instead of fretting, why not encourage this boy to hurry up and give us a grandchild?" Zheng Yifan's Dad was more direct and hit the nail on the head.
To be honest, Zheng Yifan had spent quite a bit of time around women, yet he still hadn't been 'hit' in that way. He couldn't help but wonder if there was something wrong with his body.
Zheng Yifan began to feel anxious and planned to check himself out soon to see if there were any issues.
However, there wasn't much time for that now. After the Aircraft Carrier docked, it was clear that this port could barely accommodate them. Even if it couldn't dock properly, they could anchor offshore! With the anchor dropped, they could let the Aircraft Carrier drift without fear of wind or waves. By the time all the Aircraft Carriers arrived, everyone else should be gathered as well.
These Aircraft Carriers were merely for transporting troops in the future and deterring those who held military power among their peers.
The previous combat system had completely collapsed; humanity's greatest enemy would always be Zombies. With these Aircraft Carriers as a deterrent, it would suffice. Anyone daring enough to cross oceans to confront Zheng Yifan in Australia was likely out of their minds.
Next, he instructed his parents to follow behind him before meeting with Tom's subordinates. After a few simple pleasantries, they confirmed their future allegiance to Berry.
Tom clearly seemed dissatisfied. However, Zheng Yifan couldn't concern himself with that; he would leave those matters to Berry. He had plenty of other issues to worry about.
The most fundamental was the industrial system here and the entire Zombie clearing plan for Australia.
This was necessary. Zheng Yifan had already felt the urgency of war; if it weren't for personnel not being ready yet, he would have already deployed troops and started large-scale urban cleanups.
Even though they were currently regrouping, all the warriors were rushing through the city, and the number of rescued Survivors had already reached several thousand. Due to the relatively sparse housing, the number of Survivors was still quite high, as most Zombies were trapped inside their homes and unable to come out.
Zheng Yifan and his group had thus gained the strength of thousands of Survivors.
They were essentially conscripted, completely obeying Zheng Yifan's orders; otherwise, they would face violent treatment.
For these people, a policy of leniency was not an option. It was more about making them recognize reality and then gradually changing their mindset.
Even their weapons had been confiscated.
Everyone had to work; otherwise, they wouldn't even have food to eat. It was difficult for people to adapt quickly, but it was necessary. The ability of humanity to produce food had already declined. As an agricultural and pastoral country, Australia needed to ensure food production and livestock survival rapidly. Zombies would eliminate all living beings with flesh and blood, including livestock.
Zheng Yifan had to conquer all of Australia as quickly as possible. There was no time for a policy of leniency; only a strong-arm approach could swiftly restore order.
In the future, civilization might be restored, and policies could be changed again. However, by then, the entire leadership would have shifted to Zheng Yifan, and there would be no more voting rights or similar matters. (To be continued...)
