The Hope Gathering Place was bustling once again, as a cleansing operation began against the oppression of ordinary people, gang alliances, and potential security issues within the Explorer Alliance. The leader of this operation was Old Hou, a ruthless Fellow.
He could be considered the top expert in torture and interrogation at the Hope Gathering Place, as well as a master in espionage. At this moment, Zheng Yifan had no choice but to entrust the mission to him.
Old Hou was naturally pleased to take on the task.
Zheng Yifan assigned the factory matters to Han Rui; he wouldn't concern himself with management. The entire Gathering Place needed to fall into the rhythm of cleansing.
With an expedition just a month away, all supplies needed replenishing. Despite the lively antics of the Fellows across the river, Zheng Yifan was no longer afraid of them. The main issue was that the Gathering Place required a lot of supplies for the expedition, which needed to be collected gradually. They also needed to attack several remote cities to acquire resources, particularly food and fuel. More importantly, the Zombie Crystal s in the Gathering Place had been completely depleted by Zheng Yifan, so they needed to obtain more Zombie Crystal s and convert them into Primordial Pearls.
Although Primordial Pearls were valuable, they were also a waste of money.
Zheng Yifan sighed for what felt like the hundredth time.
His figure gradually faded from the Apocalyptic World as he began to think more about the real world. He was confident that Australia had been completely occupied by now. Blitzkrieg tactics were unnecessary; using modern weapons to deal with Zombies was still easy.
However, when Zheng Yifan stepped into the real world, a cloud of dread hung over him. The entire world seemed shrouded in gloom; while the air still smelled familiar, warnings flashed in his mind.
Something had changed in this world—something terrifying. In an instant, Zheng Yifan's face turned pale as he realized what it could mean. Although there were nuclear weapons in the Apocalyptic World, they had always been limited by Vital Energy. Moreover, he knew that many large-scale destructive weapons in that world had already been destroyed, including nuclear bombs.
But not in the real world. As far as he knew, there were enough nuclear weapons globally to obliterate Earth a hundred times over.
That would be true devastation. Zheng Yifan found himself in Eve's Clean Room and rushed to her monitor.
"Eve! Come out! What happened to the world? Has someone used nuclear weapons? Why didn't you stop them?" Zheng Yifan shouted angrily.
Eve's image appeared, but it wasn't as pleasant as before; behind her lay a heap of garbage or ruins. The ground was littered with debris, and the girl wore tattered clothes with a sorrowful expression as she looked at Zheng Yifan.
"I wanted to stop them too, but they're completely insane," she cried out.
Zheng Yifan looked at the scenes unfolding before him and came to a conclusion. It wasn't that Eve wasn't trying; after all, she was just a computer, limited to interception. Yet there were always places she couldn't reach, as humans were inherently more unpredictable.
They hadn't used missiles because the Missile System could be controlled by Eve. However, they could use planes to drop bombs; they could create human nuclear bombs directly.
If someone were to release a nuclear bomb, there would be nothing the intelligence could do.
"I'm sorry!" Zheng Yifan suddenly apologized as he gazed at the ruins and saw the distressed expression on Eve's face.
But then he noticed that the entire world seemed to have changed, for he had discovered that the display before him was showing different patterns.
It was a map of the world. However, all the countries had ceased to exist, leaving only a few prominent powers.
All nations had been eradicated, with only the major powers surviving, but the rulers had changed.
Forget about how greedy those people in the Post-Apocalypse were. At least they weren't insane; they didn't think about destroying the world or treating everyone as slaves. Although they couldn't act freely, there were always rules that bound them.
Now that those elders were gone and the leaders had vanished, some crazies had emerged. What Zheng Yifan saw before him was a planet divided into seven major factions, marked by Eve. Europe was labeled as Nazi territory. The domestic area was marked as Great Qin, while America was labeled Indian. As for the northern region, it was marked as the Russian Empire.
The Middle East was marked as Sam, while scattered areas bore other labels.
These must be inconspicuous island nations or places overlooked by major powers.
Finally, the last area marked was Australia, this fertile land now highlighted in blue with the word "Hope" written above it.
This was the territory of Hope Group. Unlike other regions where control was enforced to subjugate humanity, Zombies merely served as obstacles here. Only in Australia, under Hope Group's influence, had all Zombies been cleared away—except for deep forests where cleanup efforts were still ongoing but relatively effective.
Eve seemed to understand what Zheng Yifan was thinking.
He immediately shifted his focus to the developments in Australia.
Before him, he could see Berry lying on the beach, enjoying a pleasant sunbath, surrounded by a large group of people. Factories were bustling with activity, manufacturing ammunition, while more individuals tended to livestock and cultivated the land. Every piece of arable land was being put to use.
Environmental destruction was no longer a pressing issue. Beneath the fertile soil, the remains of zombies had transformed the land into vast fields of abundance, eliminating concerns about fertilizer for decades to come.
Moreover, there was Zheng Yifan, who had long been dealing with zombies. He had already given orders to capture zombies after clearing a portion of them, focusing on nurturing the land.
Now that the earth was enriched by the remains of zombies, Zheng Yifan didn't have to worry at least until the war concluded.
In ten years, Zheng Yifan was confident he could achieve victory in the final battle.
As for the real world, it moved even faster. He needed to eliminate any opposing voices before it overlapped with the Apocalyptic World.
Only then could the real world become Zheng Yifan's most advantageous support.
All lands began to cease industrial development; industry was left to the Apocalyptic World. The real world would develop into a large farm for Zheng Yifan, ensuring humanity's survival in the future, much like a vast agricultural estate. Meanwhile, battles in the Apocalyptic World were just beginning; it was crucial to secure enough supplies before recruiting warriors as much as possible.
It should be noted that there were still billions of people in the Apocalyptic World, while zombies numbered in the hundreds of millions. Relying on the real world for ammunition and similar resources was impossible, but food supplies were more than sufficient. (To be continued.)
