Upon re-entering City Hall, Zheng Yifan and Li Ning immediately sensed that something was off, as if the environment had changed. The temperature inside City Hall had suddenly dropped by several degrees, akin to stepping into winter.
A thin layer of frost began to form on the ground. Ahead, they could even hear a faint "shh shh" sound—the sound of spiders scuttling across the floor.
Their elimination of the Spider Zombie had evidently stirred the Human-Faced Spider Zombies into a frenzy. They could smell food.
These Zombies without Zombie Crystal s seemed like disposable trash, suddenly appearing in the lobby on the first floor.
Hanging from the ceiling was a Human-Faced Spider Zombie, its body covered in frost. Its azure skin contrasted with the serene expression on its zombified face, as if it were peacefully sleeping.
It looked quite bizarre; perhaps it had been resting when it transformed into a Zombie, only to inexplicably become what it was now.
At least it hadn’t suffered much in death; those who were slowly bitten to death by Zombies were the ones truly in agony.
Or perhaps even more so were those Fellow beings captured by the Human-Faced Spider Zombies to serve as backup food. They couldn’t die for a long time, forced to wait until all their bodily tissues turned into something resembling digestive enzymes, becoming sustenance.
Moreover, their skin remained intact, resembling swollen inflatable bags.
Zheng Yifan had already taken several steps back; he decided to leave the fighting here to Li Ning. He was simply not suited for this environment, as these Zombies released that spider substance. He had no problem dealing with a single powerful enemy or even Ordinary Zombies, but facing tiny spiders was truly challenging for him.
Li Ning, however, was an expert. Before engaging in battle, he activated his Superpower. A force field formed around him as he advanced, and then he charged forward wielding the Ganjiang Divine Sword.
He understood this was an opportunity given by their leader; otherwise, Zheng Yifan might have taken out the Zombie with a single shot. Naturally, that would mean the spider would die too.
However, they both knew that none of this mattered now. Zheng Yifan primarily wanted Li Ning to practice using his new weapon.
His previous weapon resembled a spear-like strange weapon; switching to a longsword felt quite unfamiliar. He decided this would serve as his training ground.
With Zheng Yifan present, his safety was sufficiently assured.
Li Ning was well aware of this and took charge without hesitation.
"Ha!" he roared in anger, releasing his pent-up emotions. The longsword sliced swiftly through the air towards the spider.
Yet it seemed that the spider paid no heed to his attacks; it had no offensive capabilities of its own. Suddenly, it stood upright and shot out a Spider Web, forcing Li Ning to retreat quickly and use his Superpower to send that web back.
This thing is incredibly powerful. Inside, there are numerous spiders, and they are difficult to destroy.
Even Zheng Yifan found it challenging to break through the Spider Web, taking quite some time to do so, moreover, with Li Ning's help.
However, he had his own methods. Faced with the Spider Web, he activated his Superpower Application. The power of Duality instantly pulled the Spider Web from the ground to the ceiling, while all the Spider Zombies inside were swiftly eliminated. The immense pressure rendered them unable to continue fighting.
It is important to note that these Spider Zombies have a certain level of survival ability even when cut in half. They are not afraid of fierce attacks but fear area-of-effect attacks like Li Ning's.
In an instant, the Spider Web flew up, and his Ganjiang Divine Sword thrust fiercely.
With a whoosh! It pierced through the face of the Human-Faced Spider Zombie.
A peaceful face instantly turned ferocious, with two eyes glaring fiercely at Li Ning.
A blue beam shot out; this was spider silk, surprisingly sprayed from its eyes.
Zheng Yifan immediately wanted to rush in to deal with this sneak attack.
If this spider silk successfully ambushed Li Ning, it would take him quite a bit of effort to recover.
However, it was clear that Li Ning did not want to disappoint Zheng Yifan. Just as the Human-Faced Spider Zombie was about to spray its attack, the long sword in his hand suddenly erupted with a tremendous suction force like a tidal wave.
It was as if it were drawing everything in all directions from the sword. Suddenly, Zheng Yifan saw that the Human-Faced Spider Zombie began to shrink instantly. Then piles of rotten flesh sprayed out from its body.
The Ganjiang Divine Sword formed a spiral airflow resembling a meat grinder. The powerful suction absorbed everything nearby.
Especially at the location of the Human-Faced Spider Zombie, where the suction was strongest. In an instant, its entire body vanished.
With a clang! The Ganjiang Divine Sword suddenly shone with a shocking blood-red light, and then one could see the corpse fluid of the Human-Faced Spider Zombie being devoured by the Ganjiang Divine Sword.
"What a strange sword!" Li Ning exclaimed as he retracted his sword, but the Zombie Fluid had disappeared.
Zheng Yifan looked at the Ganjiang Divine Sword and suddenly recalled ancient legends.
It is said that Gan Jiang and Mo Ye, two master swordsmiths, forged divine weapons for King Wu. They gathered iron essence from five mountains and gold essence from various sources. Three hundred young boys and girls were made to beat drums and prepare charcoal, but in the end, the gold essence did not melt. The iron essence did not dissolve either; unwilling to see her husband Gan Jiang killed by King Wu, Mo Ye threw herself into the furnace at night as a blood sacrifice for the treasured sword. Thus were created Gan Jiang and Mo Ye, two legendary swords said never to be separated.
But now, it seemed that Gan Jiang was alone. Meanwhile, the Mo Ye Sword had not appeared. Could it be that the ancient legend was false?
It appeared not to be the case. The Gan Jiang Sword was eagerly absorbing energy, whether it was Vital Energy or the fluid from Zombies. It continued to draw in power, all for the purpose of reuniting with the Mo Ye Sword.
He could even sense that there might be a sword soul within the Gan Jiang Sword, which was likely the essence of Gan Jiang's spirit. In the past, he might have doubted this, but now he had no choice but to believe.
Because it was very possible that both Gan Jiang and Mo Ye contained the Vital Crystals of two legendary swordsmiths.
Only in this way could these divine swords be forged. Their souls had also entered into the divine swords.
Li Ning, now holding the Ganjiang Divine Sword, could feel this more acutely. The sword in his hand craved power, hungered for slaughter.
