The spiders seemed to have been lying in wait for a long time, and now they suddenly emerged, bringing with them a wave of destruction. A vast expanse of Spider Web was left on the ground, and as each spider rushed out, it appeared to do so without any order or organization.
However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that these spiders were continuously weaving their webs.
The webs were white and seemed harmless; even when Zheng Yifan tentatively attacked one, it was almost identical to the resilient webs he had encountered before.
This confirmed that the torrent of spiders did not possess much lethal power.
Even so, it was impossible to feel at ease, as Zheng Yifan remained on high alert. The ground was teeming with spiders, their speed was astonishing, and within just a few minutes, his surroundings transformed into a black ocean of spiders, which then turned into a sea of white Spider Web.
The entire city seemed to be enveloped by the Spider Web.
This was not a good omen. The spiders did not seem intent on killing him; rather, they appeared to have a larger scheme in mind.
It was strange how the power he was using felt so peculiar. There was no combat effectiveness; however, fighting him while standing on the ground would indeed be quite difficult.
But just a few minutes later, Zheng Yifan began to slowly retreat.
Because the spiders were truly starting to appear.
The previous Venomous Spider that had shown itself—Zheng Yifan was certain he had taken one down. His attack had been anything but trivial. The explosive lethality had undoubtedly killed that spider in an instant.
Yet now there were more than ten of them appearing. They were not particularly large spiders.
The formidable strength could not be mistaken, as the venom began to spread along the Spider Web.
Zheng Yifan then realized that the purpose of the Spider Web was to serve as a conduit, allowing the spider's toxins to spread rapidly.
What initially seemed like a slow-moving toxic mist now traveled along the Spider Web at an astonishing speed, akin to fiber optics.
The invisible speed began to spread as a purple light.
Spiders crawled over everything in their path, covering the area. But when they started to truly weave their webs, toxins emerged in an instant, causing the ground beneath to collapse rapidly, and skyscrapers disintegrated swiftly.
It was as if the apocalypse had arrived; these spiders began to decompose the buildings.
Under the toxins, the disintegrated structures transformed into something resembling liquid.
However, it was evident that this toxin could only spread downward; it was still quite difficult for it to disperse upward as a toxic mist.
They continued to set up webs and expand their reach at an astonishing speed.
At that moment, it seemed as if the entire city was boiling. A large number of zombies began to appear.
Beasts crawled out as well.
At this time, Zheng Yifan truly witnessed the Strong Ones of Deep City.
A two-story tall Lizard emerged, powerful and unstoppable, crashing through everything like a Super Armored Vehicle. It charged directly toward Zheng Yifan's Venomous Spider.
The toxins underground were rapidly destroyed under its charge. Flying debris scattered above like a meteor shower, accompanied by flames.
This beast was a Sixth Tier Lizard from the Post-Apocalypse, possibly a pet from some Pet Store or someone’s home. But with the arrival of the end times, they began to evolve.
In Zheng Yifan's eyes, this was likely a pet from some Homebody. Its evolutionary path seemed to be heading toward that of a Western Dragon; its body had grown taller and no longer resembled a typical Lizard in shape.
Behind it, two meatbags had already appeared.
In the not-so-distant future, he would evolve into a creature like the Western Dragon.
The evolution of beasts follows a traceable pattern, much like those depicted in post-apocalyptic films and animations. They continuously influence all beasts and humans. Those who have only caught a glimpse of the post-apocalypse may perceive it as powerful. As long as evolution resembles that of the apocalypse, it will subtly affect them.
Take this Fellow before me, for instance; it resembles a Western Dragon. The flames it generates while running are incredibly fierce.
Yet, despite being such a powerful beast, a Fellow with the strength of a Sixth Tier beast has yet to charge forward! I can see the purple mist on the ground gradually thickening. It seems as if there are pathways emerging from the ground. Its presence has already blocked many of these paths.
As a result, the toxic gas will be released, all directed towards it.
Then I can see that when it charges forward, the toxic gas on the ground becomes extremely intense.
In just over a minute, this Fellow has reached close to Zheng Yifan. It is almost within striking distance of those Purple Spiders.
But at that moment, the purple light on the spiders suddenly appeared. They seemed to have changed their attack form.
However, with this transformation, Zheng Yifan saw something different.
The mist began to boil. The originally purple toxic gas would not rise, but under the illumination of the purple light, the mist surged up two meters off the ground and rushed into the Lizard's nostrils.
Beasts are ultimately still part of the biological realm! Just that one inhalation of toxic gas caused it to convulse violently, as if experiencing immense pain.
Consequently, it shook its body frantically. Foam bubbled from its mouth; it was clear that it was nearing death.
Yet this Lizard remained defiant. At this critical moment, it took a deep breath and managed to inhale most of the toxic gas. Then I saw a flash of red light across its body before it forcefully expelled everything out.
Every part of its body was spewing forth.
Because his body had already been penetrated by the corrosive gas.
Even so, the fiery red glow surrounding him continued to transform the energy within into flames.
Even the toxic gas was no exception, instantly changing its form.
Then, Zheng Yifan seemed to witness the explosion of a Cloud Bomb. A massive Mushroom Cloud appeared, and a scorching shockwave of flames rapidly spread outwards.
That powerful force could undoubtedly wipe out countless spiders and severely injure those Purple Spiders and their Vital Energy.
As for the various breeds of Human-Faced Spiders, they were now scattered everywhere, and they were likely to perish here.
However, at that moment, a seemingly ordinary monster resembling a common spider suddenly sprang up from below.
But when it stood up, Zheng Yifan realized that its lower half was almost identical to that of a human, suggesting that Post-Apocalypse must have been a beauty.
Yet now, it was extremely dangerous. Because behind it had completely evolved into spiders, while the human body remained on the ground.
Perhaps it was just that in the struggle for survival, it had a strong desire for beauty.
However, the moment it appeared seemed to herald the destruction of the entire Deep City. (To be continued)
