Number 6, Lion Street, is a relatively ordinary modern residential area within Wocheng.
Four tall buildings, each with eighteen floors, stand backed by a fifteen-meter-wide river, while the outer perimeter is protected by high walls that limit the routes of Zombie attacks.
No matter how you look at it, this place is a defensible stronghold, requiring only a small number of people to fend off countless Zombie Tides.
Thus, when the apocalypse arrived, Ban Qingya keenly recognized the advantages of this area and led her companions to seize control.
Fortunately, due to the low foot traffic in the vicinity, there were no terrifying High-Level Zombies, with the strongest being merely a few First-Stage Zombies.
Faced with intelligent and armed humans organized as Survivors, these First-Stage Zombies posed little threat to the Survivors within the camp.
However, to be on the safe side, activities within the camp have always maintained maximum silence, ensuring no loud noises that might attract other Zombies.
Inside the camp, loud talking is prohibited, as are theft and robbery; all violators have been expelled by Ban Qingya.
Under her strict governance, this Survivor camp has become a quiet haven amidst the dark apocalypse.
Here, there are none of the deceit and treachery common in other Survivor camps, nor is there any predation of the weak by the strong.
With Ban Qingya and her Peacekeeping Association maintaining order, the camp has preserved stability to the greatest extent possible since before the apocalypse began.
Everyone supports one another while waiting for rescue; most search teams venturing out for food consist of able-bodied individuals from within the camp rotating their efforts.
In this camp, under the pressure of external dangers, the Survivors have huddled together for warmth, preserving a primitive harmony that sees almost no conflict.
However, with the recent increase in the number of Second-Stage Zombies, the survival pressure on the Survivors in the area has become even greater.
During the day, things are relatively calm, but at night, the entire Wocheng is almost a chaotic scene, with Second-Stage Zombies rampaging through.
Although this place is quite far from the City Center District and Second-Stage Zombies rarely pass through, when one does appear, it spells disaster.
On one night last week, a creature covered in dark red Tentacles attacked the camp.
Even with firearms at their disposal, the Survivors lost more than ten lives before they managed to take it down.
This heavy toll for a victory left everyone feeling weighed down.
It was precisely because of this disaster that the Survivors in the camp learned more about their situation.
They began to assign more personnel to guard at night, fearing another attack from Second-Stage Zombies. During that battle, they discovered that Second-Stage Zombies no longer had the ability to infect others with the virus.
Many of those injured by Second-Stage Zombies during the fight should have quickly turned into Zombies according to common logic.
However, when Ban Qingya isolated those injured individuals in a room, they waited for three full nights. The wounds on those individuals began to heal, and they still had not turned into Zombies.
While it was good news that High-Level Zombies no longer carried the virus, no one dared to underestimate Second-Stage Zombies.
Having evolved to that level, they could truly be considered monsters, completely different from ordinary Low-Level Zombies; killing did not require a virus at all.
The battle between the Normal Human and the Second-Stage Zombie was a deadly dance, where a mere brush could lead to injury and a direct hit meant certain death. Such combat was far more perilous and thrilling than facing the Low-Level Zombies infected with the virus.
To confront the increasingly powerful Mutated Zombies, Ban Qingya had recently led the Search Team several kilometers away to another street, seeking potential firearms and ammunition that might be hidden there.
Before the apocalypse, a distance of just a few kilometers could be traversed on foot in merely an hour or two.
However, in this world overrun by Zombies, terrifying monsters lurked among the towering buildings, ready to strike at any passing human.
To ensure maximum safety, despite the short distance, the team took an entire night to reach their destination.
On their return journey, they unfortunately encountered a Second-Stage Zombie, resulting in serious injuries for some members of the team.
Yet for those back at the camp, while the injuries of their companions were regrettable, the weapons and firearms that Ban Qingya and her team successfully brought back significantly bolstered the camp's defenses. They would no longer be completely defenseless against High-Level Zombies in the future.
"Sister Xin'er, what are you thinking about?"
The call from her companion snapped the dazed girl back to reality.
Liu Xiner blinked and looked at Li Yi, who was watching her with a curious expression. She smiled awkwardly. "Sorry, I was lost in thought."
Li Yi shook his head. "It's fine to daydream occasionally, but we are on watch right now. Sister Xin'er, you really shouldn't be... um..."
Glancing at the girl who appeared to be only sixteen or seventeen years old, Li Yi shook his head vigorously. "Big Sister must have been thinking about something strange to let you come out on watch... Did you offend her?"
Although Ban Qingya was only around twenty years old, younger than many of the Survivors in the camp, they all held her in high regard. They uniformly called her Big Sister, while only her classmates referred to her as Senior or President.
Ban Qingya managed the camp fairly, but she rarely asked the girls to do heavy or laborious tasks. Night watch duties were even less likely to involve them.
So when Liu Xiner joined the night watch team, everyone was surprised, thinking that this seemingly gentle girl had offended Ban Qingya.
"If you haven't done anything wrong, just apologize to Big Sister. She will definitely forgive you."
Li Yi, a man in his late twenties nearing thirty, unabashedly called the twenty-something Ban Qingya Big Sister, trying to comfort the younger girl. "You know Big Sister is soft-hearted and kind. If you just ask her, she will surely forgive you. There's no need to put yourself through this and come out to keep watch at night."
"Uh... Uncle Li Yi, you misunderstood."
Liu Xiner blushed and lowered her head as she spoke softly, "I wasn't called by Sister Qingya to take the night shift; I volunteered to come out for it."
Li Yi could hardly believe his ears. "What? You volunteered for the night watch?"
He looked at the blushing girl with confusion, scratching his ear. "Why would you do this to yourself? It's pitch dark out here at night, and keeping watch is one of the most dangerous tasks. If Zombies attack the camp, we could be the first casualties... Are you crazy?"
