Looking at the familiar smiling face before her, Liu Xiner stood frozen for a moment before suddenly crying and throwing herself into Chu Donglin's arms, holding onto him tightly.
"Woohoo... Brother-in-law... it's really you! It's really you... Woohoo... Xing'er misses you so much, Xing'er is really worried about you..."
Although she had already guessed the identity of the visitor, the reunion after more than a year apart, having gone through so many life-and-death trials, left Liu Xiner utterly exhausted both physically and mentally.
At that moment, on the dark streets of this apocalyptic world, when Liu Xiner saw Chu Donglin again, the floodgates of her tears burst open.

At this question, Li Yi's expression turned somewhat bitter.
"Probably not... When I escaped from the dormitory, I saw many people had already turned into Zombies. Even those who hadn't become Zombies were likely in dire situations; in such dangerous circumstances, everyone was struggling to survive. I couldn't save them."
"I understand; I don't blame you," Chu Donglin said with a smile to reassure the somewhat awkward Li Yi. "I've been through the initial chaos myself; I know how dangerous that situation can be. The best outcome is that you were able to protect yourself."
Then, glancing at the weeping girl in his arms, he asked with a smile, "So you and Xing'er are both at the same Survivor camp? How's the environment there? What's the leader like? Is it good?"
"Big Sister is a really good person; she manages the camp very well," Li Yi replied as he looked down the dark street behind Chu Donglin. "Chu Zong, let's head back to the district first and talk more there; it's too dangerous here."
"That's true; then please lead the way."
Chu Donglin smiled lightly, not rejecting Li Yi's proposal. However, Li Yi couldn't shake the feeling that there was something intriguing about Chu Donglin's smile.
It seemed... it seemed he didn't consider staying outside to be very dangerous?
Shaking his head, Li Yi pushed this strange thought aside.
Although he had always respected the young man who saved his life, the business world was not the same as the battlefield.
In terms of influence in the business arena, few in Wocheng could rival Chu Donglin.
Yet in this dark apocalypse, Zombies were humanity's most terrifying enemy. No matter how powerful one was in business, it paled in comparison to the utility of a sharp weapon in this end-of-the-world scenario.
From the moment the apocalypse began, whether they were former high-ranking officials or wealthy elites, all would be stripped of their glory and forced to start from scratch, fleeing from the terrifying Zombies.

As Survivors, they could only cautiously hide in corners, struggling to survive like rats in the sewers, avoiding all Zombie attacks, terrified of being discovered and facing a fate worse than death.
Pointing towards the district's main gate, Li Yi turned back to introduce it to Chu Donglin. "That is where our..."
When he turned around, he froze.
He saw two twisted and deformed Zombies being dragged behind a motorcycle, bound by ropes. Several sharp pieces of rebar were embedded in their bodies.
Clearly, these two Zombies had been dragged along by Chu Donglin on his motorcycle; their bodies were mangled and bloodied from scraping against the rough ground, looking exceptionally horrific.
Their contorted forms appeared to have shattered bones, and their dust-covered bodies still twitched slightly. It was evident that these two Zombies were not completely dead yet.
The motorcycle's headlights illuminated the street, and in the dim light, Li Yi could see those two pairs of dark red eyes glowing ominously in the darkness.
The eyes filled with brutality and bloodthirst were unmistakably...
Li Yi couldn't help but swallow hard, instinctively taking two steps back. "Chu Zong... this... this..."
He pointed tremblingly at the two Zombies, fear coursing through him, penetrating deep into his soul and sending a chill down his spine.
It was clearly just early autumn on the streets, but Li Yi felt as if he had fallen into an ice cellar, his hands and feet cold.
"Alright, stop looking like you've seen a ghost. They're just two Mutated Zombies; is it really necessary to be this scared?"
Chu Donglin chuckled, patting the head of the girl in his arms. "Xing'er, wait here for a moment; I have something to do."
The girl's excited heart had already calmed down, but for some subtle reason, she remained silent, continuing to lean against Chu Donglin.
However, when Chu Donglin spoke, she had no choice but to obediently let go of his waist, feeling a bit disappointed.
Her gaze then shifted to the two Zombies being dragged behind the motorcycle.
To be honest, the sight of those bodies ground into a bloody mess and twisted beyond recognition was exceptionally terrifying and impactful.
Even a girl who had personally killed Zombies and witnessed death couldn't help but feel a twinge of fear.
Moreover, these Zombies were unusually resilient; as long as their heads weren't smashed, they were nearly impossible to kill.
Thus, despite their bodies being tortured into a bloody pulp, the two Zombies were still alive, their struggles and roars sounding somewhat weak.
"Brother-in-law, what... what's going on?"
Liu Xiner covered her mouth in surprise and asked.
"Just two unfortunate souls. They tried to ambush me while I was passing by, and I dealt with them easily."
Chu Donglin looked up and smiled at Liu Xiner. "The powerful Mutated Zombies have learned to fear me. I dragged these two fellows behind my vehicle, and seeing their miserable state, those Mutated Zombies that wanted to attack me were scared off before they could make a move. Otherwise, do you think I could ride around the city so boldly without attracting the attention of the Mutated Zombies? It's just that they can't figure out my situation and are too afraid to act against me for now."
Liu Xiner nodded in realization. "So that's how it is! Brother-in-law, you're amazing! Even the Mutated Zombies can't handle you."

"Like that monster from yesterday afternoon?"

With that, Chu Donglin removed the two Zombies from the back of the motorcycle, took a sharp Machete from the bike, and with two swift strikes, smashed the heads of the two unfortunate souls.
