"I admire you, so if you have time in the future, let me buy you a drink."
As Chu Donglin's words fell, a woman's scream suddenly pierced the air from not far away. The people on the street froze for a moment, instantly enveloped in an eerie silence.
Li Zheng looked at Chu Donglin, who smiled back at him, seemingly unfazed by the sudden scream.
"It seems something has happened. Mr. Li Zheng, aren't you going to take a look?"
On the not-so-wide street, the two men stood about four or five meters apart, locking eyes.
Three seconds later, Li Zheng finally broke into a smile.
"Why don't we go check it out together? It's probably just some kid causing trouble and scaring their mother."
"Hehe... maybe," Chu Donglin replied noncommittally, and the crowd continued to move forward.
However, this time their direction shifted slightly as they headed toward the source of the scream.
Two minutes later, they arrived at a corner.
This was a relatively secluded area of the district, where few pedestrians ventured.
At that moment, on the grass, a man and a woman were tightly embracing each other. The man was on top of the woman, thrusting rhythmically as they engaged in some inappropriate activities.
The woman beneath him had pale skin that suggested malnutrition but was still somewhat attractive.
She clung tightly to the man's neck, gasping and moaning in apparent ecstasy.
A bottle of mineral water and two boxes of snacks lay scattered on the grass beside them. As she eagerly responded to the man above her, she occasionally reached out to touch the food and drink nearby, as if afraid these precious items might disappear.
The sound of footsteps drew closer, and the woman appeared somewhat flustered and uneasy, while the man seemed increasingly excited.
“Whew... Who... who is it? Want to join in on this...”
Before he could finish his sentence, the grim-faced Scarred Man, Dai Yinzhi, rushed forward and kicked him aside.
At the same time, Dai Yinzhi swiftly removed his outer coat and threw it over the disheveled woman, covering her exposed skin.
“Go home if you want to make love! Have you lost your mind doing such things in public? You may not care about your reputation, but we do.”
Dai Yinzhi's face darkened as he delivered another kick to the man who had tried to argue back, coldly stating, “Aren't you going to get lost? If I catch you doing this kind of thing with your wife in public again, I swear I’ll take care of you!”
The man, bruised and battered, scrambled up from the ground, fear evident in his eyes as he looked at the grim-faced Dai Yinzhi. He glanced at the group standing behind him and hurriedly fled without even bothering to fix his clothes.
As for the woman on the grass, when Dai Yinzhi’s gaze swept over her, she reacted like a mouse seeing a cat. She quickly grabbed some food and drink from the ground and dashed away.
Watching the hasty retreat of both the man and woman, Li Zheng shook his head helplessly.
“Ah... this Wang Shuyu really takes the cake.”
Chu Donglin shot a knowing glance at Li Zheng and asked, “So this gentleman whose good time we interrupted is named Wang Shuyu? What’s wrong? Mr. Li Zheng seems quite troubled by him. What has he done?”
“As you can see, this fellow has an exhibitionist tendency.”
Li Zheng shrugged and continued, “He has this perverse hobby of exposing himself in public, particularly enjoying doing such things with his wife in secluded corners.”
“When caught, instead of being angry, he gets excited and invites others to join him with his wife... I've warned him countless times that such behavior is inappropriate. Yet he remains unrepentant. It’s quite frustrating.”
As Li Zheng recounted this story, Scarred Man Dai Yinzhi strode away.
“Hey? Why is Mr. Dai leaving so quickly? Isn’t he joining us?”
In the midst of Chu Donglin's inquiry, Dai Yinzhi muttered, "I need to use the restroom," and vanished around the corner.
Chu Donglin watched Dai Yinzhi's disappearing figure and smiled, remaining silent.
Li Zheng, embodying the necessary hospitality of a host, reassured them, "Don't mind him; this fellow is just a bit troublesome. Let's keep moving."
Chu Donglin shrugged, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
After walking for about three minutes, the group arrived at the District Center's Residential Square.
Here, they could see some Survivors scattered across the square, either sitting or standing, quietly engaged in their own activities.
There were both men and women, but the vast majority were male.
Among the few women present, they appeared pale and malnourished, as if they hadn't had a proper meal in a long time.
Moreover, they were dressed very lightly; despite it being early autumn, they wore thin clothing that seemed almost revealing for summer.
Some women were even only wearing pink bras on their upper bodies, their curves almost fully exposed.
A few men were embracing these women, but at least nothing more was happening.
Only a couple of men looked somewhat disheveled; one of them was struggling to fasten his belt properly.
Meanwhile, Dai Yinzhi, who had originally gone to the restroom, was now standing in the square talking to a man. The others around him, regardless of gender, looked at him with a hint of fear.
"Hey? Didn't Mr. Dai say he was going to the restroom? How did he end up here?"
Chu Donglin followed Li Zheng and the others into the square and teased Dai Yinzhi, "So the restroom is nearby?"
Dai Yinzhi shot him a cold glance and snorted softly without responding.
Li Zheng sensed the tension in the atmosphere and quickly stepped in to mediate.
"This fellow, Silver, has that kind of temperament. Mr. Chu, please don’t take it to heart; Silver means no harm to you."
Chu Donglin glanced at Dai Yinzhi, who was coldly huffing as he left the square, and a playful smile crept onto his face.
"Let’s hope so."
With that, Chu Donglin's gaze shifted back to Li Zheng.
"Mr. Li Zheng, weren't you supposed to provide us with free food and water? Where are the good food and drinks? I haven't seen any."
Chu Donglin's voice was slightly raised, enough for everyone in the square to hear.
Under Chu Donglin's gaze, which held a hint of amusement, the crowd began to stir restlessly. It seemed that the idea of "free food and water" had struck a chord with them.
