It was a Strange Monster unlike any he had ever seen.
Its massive body was covered in a charred black surface, interspersed with strange, pale patterns that resembled a twisted creature from a nightmare, exuding an eerie and malevolent chill.
Countless dark auras swirled around it like the spirits of the dead, emitting a chilling wail.
It moved through the darkness, its contorted form gliding as if swimming through water, causing ripples in the shadows.
Then it extended its enormous and grotesque claws, piercing into Chu Donglin's head, contracting rhythmically as it drained his blood.
Gradually, Chu Donglin felt his lifeblood flowing from him into the gloating body of this bizarre monster.
The strange and evil claws continued their relentless suction, and the spot where they had pierced his head throbbed with unbearable pain.
In his ears, the eerie creature let out a cold and unrestrained laugh in the darkness, seemingly mocking his current predicament.
From a distant place, a voice echoed: "How is he doing now?"
A woman's voice answered softly, "He is in a deep coma; his pulse and heartbeat are extraordinarily abnormal. Under normal circumstances, he should have already bled to death."
The previous voice spoke again.
"He is an Ability user; his physical condition should differ from that of ordinary people. There's no need to be surprised."
In the darkness, Chu Donglin hazily recalled that this voice belonged to Ban Qingya.
So where was he? Was this Ban Qingya's Survivor camp? But hadn't he been at Eastern Fantasy Technology University? How did he end up here? What about White Wolf?
In the shadows, the monster cackled sinisterly as it slowly retracted its grotesque claws. Its evil and twisted body silently faded back into the darkness.
Chu Donglin's headache finally began to ease.
In a hazy state, he felt someone pressing a hand against his wrist.
He wanted to open his eyes, but his eyelids felt heavy, refusing to budge.
Then he heard someone speaking near his ear, "His pulse right now... ah!"
With the woman's startled exclamation, Chu Donglin's body suddenly jolted, and it seemed as if the entire world shook violently in that moment.
Then he heard Ban Qingya's voice beside him.
"What’s happening? Has that fellow returned?"
From a distance, a response echoed back.
"Big Sister! That monster is back! What should we do?"
Monster? What monster?
In his dazed state, confusion filled Chu Donglin's mind. Was their monster the strange nightmare from before in the darkness?
Then it seemed Ban Qingya moved away, her voice growing fainter.
"What about Ling'er and Keara? Didn't they go to stop that fellow? Where have those two girls gone?"
In the next moment, two similar, crisp laughs from Chu Donglin rang out.
"Sister Qingya, don’t be angry. This monster is so powerful that even we couldn't stop it."
"Yeah, Sister Qingya, it has been running after the group without any intention of stopping to tangle with us. We couldn’t keep up with its pace; we were helpless too."
The voices of the two girls were clear and pleasant, like beautiful wind chimes, evoking a sense of fondness.
However, the confusion in Chu Donglin's heart grew deeper.
So familiar...
The voices of these two girls were so recognizable, yet no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recall where he had heard them before.
Then Ban Qingya's voice rang out again.
"It's going to attack! Ling'er! Stop it!"
At the moment her voice fell, a piercing crack of thunder echoed, followed by a loud crash and a terrifying roar from a distant place, accompanied by a painful beastly howl.
"Roar!"
Amidst the furious and pained roars of the beast, the ground trembled violently for a moment, and then more human screams reached Chu Donglin's ears.
"It's coming! It's coming again!"
"How is that possible? It was clearly so badly injured; why isn't it fleeing?"
Among the shocked cries of the crowd, Ban Qingya's voice sounded in Chu Donglin's ear.
"It wants to reclaim something... something important that we took away."
Suddenly, Ban Qingya's voice grew louder, as if warning those in the team.
"Earlier at Eastern Fantasy Technology University, did any of you quietly take something? That item is likely connected to this monster and is the reason it has been relentlessly pursuing us. Whoever took it needs to return it; otherwise, if we continue to tangle with this monster, even with Ling'er and Keara protecting us, I can't guarantee there won't be casualties."
Amidst the booming explosions of the electromagnetic cannon mixed with the monster's angry and pained roars, it seemed that the creature attacking the team was being severely suppressed.
Meanwhile, people in the group began to speak up in defense, claiming their innocence.
"Big Sister, you know what kind of person I am. How could I possibly take something without telling you?"
"That's right, President. I've been with you for so long; there's no way I would do something so reckless. Even if I found something good, I wouldn't keep it to myself."
A group of people hurriedly defended their innocence, and Ban Qingya's voice rang out again.
"If no one has taken anything, then why is this monster still chasing us?"
Her tone was filled with confusion.
Then, the roar of the monster echoed once more. Chu Donglin suddenly recognized which monster was attacking their group.
White Wolf...
The creature relentlessly assaulting them was the Second-Stage White Wolf that Chu Donglin had subdued.
Realizing this, more memories flooded back to Chu Donglin, and he recalled even more details.
Hunting, crystallization, evolution, unconsciousness... Could it be that during his unconscious state, Ban Qingya and the others inadvertently discovered him, and at that time, White Wolf was not by his side? So they took him away while he was unconscious? Is that why White Wolf was pursuing them so fiercely?
But what about those two girls... Ling'er and Keara? Were they those girls? How did they end up with Ban Qingya?
Chu Donglin's chaotic and muddled thoughts barely had time to process more. The piercing roar of the beast sounded again.

With a violent tremor, the earth shook once more.
Amidst the girls' screams, the thunderous crack of lightning exploded in Chu Donglin's ears.
"This big dog has gone mad!"
"To the left! Ling'er! To the left!"
"No! It's flying up! Keara, quickly take me away!"
"Ahhhhhhh! Ling'er, you idiot!"
Boom—
Amidst the violent rumbling, it seemed that something massive had fallen from the sky, causing Chu Donglin to tremble.
Then, he heard the furious shout of a girl beside him.
"Big Dog! This is your own doing!"
Sizzle—
The roar of the electromagnetic cannon drowned out even the growl of the White Wolf amidst the crackling thunder.
In the next moment, Chu Donglin heard the White Wolf's agonized howl, accompanied by the acrid scent of burnt fur wafting through the air.
As he caught a whiff of that strange smell, a sudden wave of urgency and tension surged within him.
He could hear the White Wolf's painful cries.
Clearly, during the chase, it had been injured again by the two girls.
Listening to the White Wolf's wretched howls, Chu Donglin desperately wanted to open his eyes and make a sound, but his eyelids felt so heavy that he couldn't lift them at all.
Even heavier than his eyelids was his body.
As his senses gradually returned to him, he felt the stretcher beneath him swaying and could even smell the foul odor in the air.
He desperately tried to sit up, but his body felt as heavy as a mountain, completely unresponsive.
Just as Chu Donglin was feeling anxious and impatient, he sensed a faint mental connection in his consciousness space.
It was the mental link belonging to White Wolf.
Realizing this, Chu Donglin's spirit jolted. Without a second thought, he quickly sent a command through the mental link for White Wolf to leave.
Three seconds later, White Wolf let out a reluctant whimpering howl, followed by the excited shouts of people.
"It’s gone! The monster is gone!"
"Hahaha... finally gone!"
In Chu Donglin's ears, he heard Ban Qingya's voice.
"Great! The monster has finally left."
There was a sense of relief in her exclamation.
Then, amidst the footsteps, Ban Qingya's voice gradually approached him.
"How is he doing? The earlier chaos didn’t worsen his condition, did it?"
Chu Donglin struggled with all his might but could only emit faint hissing sounds from his throat.
"He’s awake!"
Amidst the woman's delighted exclamations, Chu Donglin continued to struggle, feeling the darkness that bound him begin to waver slightly.
Soon after, Ban Qingya's somewhat joyful voice rang in Chu Donglin's ears.
“Mr. Chu, can you hear me?”
“I can hear you, but I can’t see…”
After struggling to utter those words, Chu Donglin felt a sudden jolt of awareness, only to be dragged back into the endless darkness once more.
Thirteen days into his coma, Chu Donglin's first awakening came to an abrupt end.
When he was carried back to the camp on a stretcher by Ban Qingya and her group, the unconscious Chu Donglin resembled a poorly made puppet, devoid of any responsive ability, like a lump of clay being manipulated at will.
After receiving care and examination from the camp doctor, a group of physicians expressed their astonishment at this comatose zombie, baffled as to why human physiological features such as blood pressure and pulse had changed so drastically.
Even among fellow Ability users, the two girls in the camp seemed no different from ordinary people.
This question left several doctors scratching their heads in confusion.
That night, upon arriving at the camp, Chu Donglin was settled into a room belonging to Ban Qingya. (To be continued...)
