Tonight, the base was anything but peaceful. 0

This was something only a few knew. 0

Like the hurried figures moving through the dark alley, like the person sitting in the shadows of the street with their head bowed in silence, like those laughing and dancing on stage, and… like the one with a pair of Death God's Eyes. 0

As Shishi stood at the bustling street corner, tiptoeing to reach for a skewer of candied fruit on a wooden rack, a hand suddenly reached out from the side, gripping her wrist and gently pulling her back. 0

The girl embraced the bewildered Shishi, casting a deep glance at the vendor selling candied fruit before shaking her head. 0

“Sorry, we don’t want it.” 0

Shishi stared at her in confusion, unsure of what had just happened. 0

The vendor selling the candied fruit looked speechless, glaring at both of them before shouldering the wooden rack filled with skewers and walking away. 0

“Are you crazy? Why stop me if you’re not buying? What a waste of time!” 0

The girl coldly watched his retreating figure until he vanished into the crowd. Only then did she lower her gaze to the girl in her arms. 0

“Shishi.” 0

“Hmm?” 0

“From now on, hold my hand tightly and don’t let go.” 0

The girl spoke seriously. “And whatever you want to buy, you must consult me first… Do you understand? You can only buy what I approve.” 0

Shishi nodded in bewilderment, still unclear about what was happening. 0

But she knew that the girl beside her would not harm her, so she obediently nodded, indicating her understanding. 0

Snow began to fall slowly from the night sky. 0

In the dark expanse above, the brilliance of fireworks continued to burst forth. 0

The fireworks had been blooming for several hours, filling the night sky with beautiful colors that seemed as if they would go on forever. 0

However, on the white snow that fell gently from the sky, traces of gray marred its surface, as if tainted by the darkness and filth, no longer pure like fresh snow. 0

The fireworks that had illuminated the night had filled the air with dust from gunpowder, and all the snow entering the base would inevitably become stained with gray smudges. It was unavoidable. 0

Yet within the base, people celebrated the festive occasion joyfully, completely unaware of it all. 0

The whispers of laughter in the shadows grew sharper. 0

Then something stirred. 0

A slender figure emerged from a dark alley, illuminated by the dim yellow light at the roadside, casting a long shadow behind him. 0

A black cloak fluttered gently behind him. 0

The hem of the cloak rustled, revealing faint damp stains. 0

It was blood with a metallic scent, but it was concealed by the black fabric. Even as the man passed through the crowd with a cigarette in his mouth, no one noticed the bloodstains on his cloak. 0

On his face was a slight smirk, as if mocking someone unknown. 0

A long Reaper's Scythe hung down behind him, dragging slowly through the snow. The sharp blade glimmered faintly in the dim light, exuding a chilling aura. 0

Some who caught sight of him instinctively stepped back, parting the way. It wasn't that they recognized him; rather, it was the cold, sinister presence he emanated that made them feel as if they had been bitten by a snake, prompting an instinctive desire to distance themselves. 0

"A bunch of mortals..." 0

Li Ran wore a cold smile, mocking the shallow gaze of these ignorant beings. 0

"To be on the brink of death and yet remain oblivious—how pitiful..." 0

He coldly laughed at the cheerful crowd as he passed through the bustling street, seemingly following some trail left behind on the pavement, before quickly disappearing into the throng. 0

Three minutes later, a sudden burst of blood erupted from a dark alley, staining the white snow with an eerie green hue. 0

Puffs of steam rose up, melting some of the cold snow. 0

As the man with the long Reaper's Scythe vanished from the street corner, a peculiar head rolled out from the darkness. 0

With large, bulging eyes wide open in terror and a grotesque face that was not human but more akin to a twisted Frogman, it lay there lifeless. 0

Then the man returned, looking at the head that had rolled out and shaking his head in disdain. 0

"Dead and still trying to cause trouble? Wouldn't it be better to hide in the shadows? Why come out for others to see? Don't you have any instincts? Get back in there." 0

He lifted his right foot and gave it a gentle kick. 0

Roll, roll— 0

The twisted head rolled into the darkness, reuniting with its body, hidden in a corner where no one could discover it. 0

Li Ran let out a pleased whistle, dragging behind him the massive Reaper's Scythe as he left. 0

He merged back into the crowd, following the invisible traces along the road toward his next target, weaving past men and women of all ages until he encountered a strange sight. 0

A man and a woman. 0

Snowflakes settled on the man's pale hair as he smiled gently, seemingly accompanying his wife. 0

Beside him stood a beautiful and charming young girl, clinging to his arm with an expression of affectionate reliance, pouting as she negotiated prices with the Boss. 0

They were standing in front of a stall at a night market, and the girl was arguing over a cheap, low-quality hairpin. It wasn't expensive, yet she was enthusiastically haggling with the Boss. 0

The man's face bore a fond and amused smile as he watched her, allowing her to continue her debate with the Boss without interference. 0

Li Ran's body slowly shrank back, silently retreating into the shadows by the roadside. 0

His right hand trembled slightly. 0

His eyes were filled with disbelief and shock as he muttered under his breath. 0

"My... how is this possible..." 0

His gaze was fixed intently on the White-Haired Man, his originally dark eyes gradually tinged with a layer of glamorous crimson. 0

"Zombies... does such a monster truly exist in this world..." 0

A shiver of fear coursed through his body, causing it to tremble lightly. 0

An indescribable chill emerged from the depths of his soul, enveloping him. Yet, the twisted expression on his face gradually revealed a hint of madness. 0

"Hey hahaha... what an impressive fellow... truly an impressive fellow..." 0

His hands shook with excitement and trembled with fear, the quaking even affecting the Reaper's Scythe he gripped tightly, scraping against the snow in the Dark Alley and leaving chaotic marks. 0

"The strongest... hehehe... that fellow is definitely the strongest monster on land. Hehehehahaha... how lucky I am, so lucky! Hahahaha... not only did I find a Mutant ahead of time, but I also encountered such a formidable Zombie... hey hahaha..." 0

He tightened his grip on the weapon. His blood-red eyes fixed intently on the two people at the stall, slowly fading into the darkness. 0

"I will definitely... definitely kill you!" 0

At the moment the man vanished, Chu Donglin at the stall seemed to sense something. 0

He turned around and instinctively glanced in that direction, frowning. 0

There was nothing but an empty alley there, with no trace of human presence visible in the darkness. 0

A cold wind swept through, swirling snow obscuring his view. 0

When he turned back, he saw a girl curiously gazing up at his face. 0

"Why are you looking at me like that?" 0

The girl cheerfully wrapped her arms around his, happily leaning against him. "What are you staring at? So engrossed? Did you see some beauty?" 0

Chu Donglin smiled as he playfully tapped her nose. "The most beautiful girl is right in front of me. Are there any other beauties in this place worth turning my head for?" 0

"Hmph! Flattery won't work on me; I don't believe your sweet words," she replied, dragging Chu Donglin toward the other end of the street. 0

"You need to prove it with actions before I'll believe you," she insisted. 0

Chu Donglin shook his head with a chuckle. "What kind of actions are you talking about?" 0

"I want you to treat me to Wontons." 0

"Uh... is that your idea of an action?" 0

"Yes! I love Wontons. So I made a wish that if someone sincerely treats me to Wontons, I would definitely marry him." 0

Chu Donglin laughed. "So a meal of Wontons is all it takes to win you over? You really are quite easy to please." 0

The girl proudly huffed, "Is there anything wrong with loving Wontons? Is it wrong to enjoy delicious food? My biggest dream is to try every tasty dish in the world and then write a Gourmet Diary to record all these delicacies, which I will pass down to my descendants." 0

Chu Donglin burst into laughter. "While others leave treasures for their descendants, you're leaving them this? Aren't you worried they'll think you're stingy?" 0

"Pfft... My descendants won't be as dull as Brother Donglin; they'll understand my deep love for food. That Gourmet Diary is my truest affection." 0

"Alright, you win." 0

Chu Donglin looked at the girl with a smile and asked, "How many words have you written in your Gourmet Diary? Is it lengthy yet?" 0

She decisively shook her head and said matter-of-factly, "I haven't started writing it yet." 0

Chu Donglin's expression stiffened. 0

"Have you... not started writing yet?" 0

"Not yet," the girl replied, her face filled with excitement. "This idea just came to me last night, and I haven't had the chance to implement it yet. But I believe that before long, I will definitely be able to complete this ideal." 0

"If I can't finish it in a year, I'll take ten years. If I can't finish it in ten years, I'll take a hundred years. Anyway, I'm sure I can accomplish it." 0

Looking firmly at Chu Donglin, the girl suddenly spoke up, "Brother Donglin, can you help me complete this diary together?" 0

Chu Donglin silently gazed at her for three full seconds. 0

The pure white snow fell from the night sky, landing on their heads and shoulders, then slowly melting away. 0

Chu Donglin smiled. "Sure." 0

He couldn't help but clench his hand at his side, but his face towards the girl wore a bright smile. "Even if you forget about it later or leave, I will still help you carry out this plan and see it through to completion." 0
